My Father was stationed in Trinidad during the war and met my mother there after the war he returned and My sister and I were born in Port Of Spain in 1952 my finest memories were of my youth in Trinidad we had a island home on Monas nothing is better then fishing and swimming there .Oh yes forever young
It's about time that our children learn about this in school. It's time they learn that freedom is not free but was bought with the blood of men and women. Both wars are important parts of our history.
there is a documentary called west Indians in England, they also flew in the royal air force black filers who was equivalent to the Tuskegee airmen of America they were some of the best pilots in the world
This documentary is awesome! It really teaches me more about the history of the islands. I'm currently writing basis information about every country in a world set within an alternate historical timeline where the axis won WWII. The American continent hasn't changed too much, except that there aren't any areas anymore that are a European colony. Trinidad and Tobago are among them and this video really helps me when I wrote about the nation's background.
I went to school from 1961 to 1971. The education system was designed by the British. They only wanted British "colony" education to be generic and watered down. I only knew about the American Naval Base at Chaguaramus. There was an American Airfield that I never knew about. That was shut down after WW2 ended.
The end of this video left us with the impression of a continuation. Four years later, I'd like to know if a part 2 video was not made maybe there is an published article. Excellent tribute to the men behind the scene. Chaguaramas Military Museum complete the task.
Thank you very much! I With the right guidance awareness and education the attitudes of people in our country could've been much different today, for the better..This is something that every Trini should've been taught in school!
Same here! We didn't learn this history of Trinidad in secondary school. I have learnt about the country's involvement in WW2 via You Tube in recent years.

Thank you, there is so much I want to know about my Grandfather and his service during WWII
I remember camping out in an area near the barracks and bunker basements during a scouting jamboree back in the 70's, somewhere near Tucker Valley.
The effects of post WW2 as well as the Truman Doctrine was a precursor to many islands independence in the 1960's, most importantly Trinidad & Tobago.
Why is this not shown in schools in Trinidad?
Brendan Bhagan I agree this should be part of the history taught in schools.
