- Lyric deep-dive into the 2000 Oasis classic from the 'Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants' album

Many thanks, JH.
Please, please, PLEASE cover more material from the 2000s era. This was when I first got into music growing up, and Heathen Chemistry was my first Oasis album. There's no shortage of Brit Pop retrospectives, but hardly anything that delves into the days of SOTSOG, HC, DBTT and DOYS. Would love to see your retrospection and analysis on that era, James ♥
Heathen Chemistry was my first too and I still really love it!
Totally agree, there’s so much info about the early oasis era but I also love the later albums and would love some videos for that time as well.
Agreed 100%. It's funny because their 2000s era was much more productive, with arguably more drama.
Heathen Chemistry was simply bad ass. Loved it!
@@randyhughey633 Me too, man. "Hung In A Bad Place" is a great track.
This song was with me during one of the strongest relationship I had which ended in the deepest depression time of my life.. definitely I'll bring it with me till the last breath
No woman is worth simping over, ever!
Your channel is like a Netflix series! So addicting!
I haven’t listened to this album since the Wembley gig but I put it in my car a couple of months ago and I haven’t stopped listing to it since. It’s an absolute classic. Gas panic and where did it all go wrong still hold up. This album has aged really well
Go let it out, who feels love, the 2 you named, and roll it over are really good songs. Maybe the album does not have a 10, like live forever, supernova etc, so that is why i think this album is not seen as legendary, but many songs are still a solid 7.5 and would not be misplaced if they were on be here now for example.
My dad is close to passing away through alcohol.
He's a terrible person when drinking, but he's still my dad. I discovered Roll it Over in November 2021, when he was in hospital. We said our goodbyes, and I just so happened to listen to the entirety Shoulders of Giants that day, Roll it over stuck out to me because of the line 'Leave me here'. It made me think of how selfish my dad was, to continue drinking and leave me on the planet without him there. The way Liam sings it, I balled my eyes out all night to that song.
He somehow survived, he's still alive. He doesn't have long left but we're back on good terms now, and Roll It Over will be played at his funeral.
Words cannot describe what it meant to me, when Liam played it at Knebworth
🤯♥️🔥🙌🌹💪🍻💯
Sorry for your loss to come. Be strong, geezer.
@@c.hunter9069 Cheers mate, I will x

It's definitely about Meg Matthews, and the 'Plastic people /who never bring a chair" were her mates knocking about at the time. On the Parkinson interview Noel said (to paraphrase) "Once I was off drugs I realised I didn't even like the people coming round my house. "Who are you, what are you doing round my house?. Get out"".
'Where Did It All Go Wrong?' is about that too. "Do you keep the receipts for the friends that you buy". It was a (justifiably) cynical time for Noel.
If you go straight to Let's All Make Believe (which, unfortunately, made it only in the Japanese version), the song gets even stronger; specially with the "let's all make believe that we're still friends and we like each other" part
Let's All Make Believe is such a great song
Man that was one of your best videos imo. I was thinking the same since SOTSHOG and Noel's divorce had one year between them, nevertheless, there are still some great tunes in all Oasis records after Be Here Now.
This is why I love SOTSOG so much and imo, better than Be Here Now. It was the darkest point of Oasis's career and Noel's life. The "blizzard" storm that was the 90s was coming down and the party days were over then you come to realization on the more philosophical points of life. That lifestyle is behind you and now you ponder upon the more existential aspects of life. That is the reason why the album is so dark yet psychedelic as well as experimental. This was the time both Noel and Liam were coming off drugs and Noel suffered heavy panic attacks in the middle of the night due to the withdrawal on the verge "dying." If it wasn't for his wife calming him down during these panic attacks, severe consequences could have happened. As well as both the Gallagher brothers were fathers now at this point and Noel having his first child in the year 2000. Thus, this is why I love this album. Noel and Oasis always gave the appearance of not being "depressed" and always jolly lads but I do love how depressing and dark the album SOTSOG is which was unexpected by Oasis at the time. A brilliant album and looking forward to more analysis on the 2000s era of Oasis. Cheers!
What severe consequences??!!! A panic attack can’t do anything serious to you!
Nice comment but I would define the album as "depressing", it's more like introspective
SOTSOG is my favourite Oasis album, so dark, absolutely love it.
Please could you release the backing tracks you add to these videos? They're absolutely beautiful!
Thank you so much for this channel. I was stationed in England from 98 to 01 and fell in love with Oasis and most of Britpop, except the Blur. LOL. We had heard some Oasis back in the States in 95' like Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova.. but nothing like I experience in England. I was over there when this album came out and I thought it was amazing. Its highly underrated in my opinion. Thank you for this video, one of my favorite tracks ever. Keep Britpop alive over there. My favorite bands have always been English since I was a kid (Stones, Faces, Zeppelin, Free, Beatles, Smiths, Free..etc..and you guys need a revival!
I love this song and it was the highlight of the Liam's concert that I went to in Athens. He did struggle during some songs, but this one he sang absolutely perfectly.
We got this at LG’s show in Auckland, New Zealand 🇳🇿 last month! Blew my mind. Was not expecting to hear it and it was one of the highlights of the concert for sure.
love the backing track used on this!
James I need a video on Sunday Morning Call. It’s my 2nd favourite Oasis song and I need to know why Noel hates it so much. At the time it was released Noel seemed to be pleased with it, releasing it as the 3rd single from the album, and Liam is even quoting as saying “it’s my favourite track on the album….and I don’t even sing on it”. I need a definitive answer
Perhaps for Noel it marked a profoundly unhappy time? Obviously it was, isn’t it almost always so, especially when there are children? But t might have been so deeply hurtful that he questioned everything.
Noel has always been such a pro that his output didn’t suffer, but I’m wondering if he did, instead. An oddball idea. When I’m unhappy it does block me.
I also really liked Sunday Monday Call. I thought it had one of Noel’s best verse melody’s and a strong chorus. I’m guessing it reminds Noel of something or someone. I actually prefer the songs Noel sings on post BHN. I think he kept a lot of the best songs for himself lol
Love what you did with the background music James... top vid once again 👏
I always thought that this album was a mixed message of his failed marriage, (especially where did it all go wrong and i can see a liar) and him knocking the gear on the head. ( gas panic)
But as usual he turned a traumatic time in his life into amazing music. Now he's happy with his life, his music is shite!!!! 🤣
Get back on the gear, and mess everything up again Noel!!!!
Underrated for sure! This was my first oasis album and I still love it, and this is my favourite song in it.
Something interesting happened at an oasis forum I was in back in the day: They decided to let the community pick their 10 favourite oasis songs from all their catalog to make an unofficial compilation when they disbanded. Everyone was really surprised when Roll it over made it to the top ten most voted songs from the band. Really a gem.
I also thought it was about Meg from the beginning, the whole thing makes even more sense if you consider that there were versions of the album that included "Let's all make believe" at the end and after "Roll it over", but Noel decided maybe that those 2 songs at the end would make and extremely dark ending, but those 2 songs come hand in hand because they explain a certain period of Noel's life were relations were starting to end, both songs were written around the same year, maybe the same months.
i love their 2002 album ), agree that the 90s were their goat time, but early 00s was good too, not as good, but good
Musically, this song has had a massive influence on my guitar playing style with the subtle and clean arpeggiated guitars. And it's such an underrated song, and amazing to see Liam pulling it out of the archives. I had the same suspicion it was about Meg Matthews! Bang on mate 🙌
James can you please upload the audio backing track you recorded for this? Seen a few comments requesting this. Cheers mate
I wonder if Noel watches these videos? I get the feeling he does
As I am a big fan of this album, I do find Roll It Over to be a very good closing track to the album and fits in the right mood to finalise it. It's no classic like the closing tracks like Married or Supernova but this was always one of my favourites.
Be Here Now = Coke album
Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants = Valium album.
Fare wished that Carry Us All, Full On, One Way Road, Cigarettes In Hell and Let's All Make Believe was on the album instead of Put Yer Money where your mouth is, I Can See A liar and Little James. That would probably be my favourite Oasis album if them b sides were on that album and I'm not sure what roll it over is about.
I believe that Liam didn't choose Roll it Over randomly for this 22' tour. That day in Manchester was the very first time that he sing it live. Considering his new album where we he has songs like "Wave" with lines like:
My brother don't like me
He's said it before
Who threw the first stone, yeah
And who's keeping score?
Just trying to keep dancing
My way to your door
It's a rave, it's a rave, you can make that wave
Happen
And when the meadow gets me
I leave a beautiful sound behind
-
Have faith in the future
That's perfectly clear
Let's stop the world burning
Well, maybe next year
Get together before
It all ends in tears
Every day, every day we could make that change
Happen
-
I think the Wave is oasis getting back together. And Liam a Noel rolling over that wheel.
Great tune. To me it's a look back to the heyday of Oasis which they knew was behind them, and the hangers on, who took everything they could from the brothers Gallagher while things were good, but we no where to be seen when times got tough.
"Look around at all the plastic people who live without a care
Try to sit with me around my table but never bring a chair"
The returning vocals at 4:11 are simply epic. One of Liam's best vocal performances ever imo.
I just watched the Masterplan conspiracy and I was blown away by everything you covered.
Would you ever interview Melissa Lim to get her side of the story? (morning glory)
James is just such a good storyteller. Not in a bedtime story way, but a mixture of warmth without sycophancy and of objectivity. He researches his topics, is intelligent in filling in gaps, while always telling us what his level of confidence is & why. I have to say, I’ve been completely captivated by his many really interesting & enjoyable stories, his musical talents (which are really high level) and a very listenable voice & physiog to look at. I’m confident that if he wants to, he will have a commercial career in & around the music biz. Why do I say that? Because he has a really strong foundation, one helluva work ethic, people skills enough to be enjoyable to be around & the humility to being open to feedback.
To your question, I think that would be terrific. It’s possible that sufficient time has passed that she might be willing to speak, though I hope for her sake, that if she does, she stays off camera. She strikes me as a discrete person and a wise one. She gave only two interviews about NG/Oasis, one of which was her local paper in San Fran & I think the other was a music magazine. Very very little considering how apparently newsworthy Oasis was for the tabloids year after year. Gold diggers would have been a right pain & had to be bought off. It’s possible that it was no special thing for Melissa Lim. Who knows. Alternatively, it may have been very deep & would easily have been “the one” for them both. I like to think the latter. NG is a proud man, had to grow up way too early & probably his front hides a lot of pain & an intense need for a REAL relationship with his wife & kids.
People often criticise NG but, as a kid who shares a great deal of the ghastliness of an upbringing in a broken home or worse, one that should have been but didn’t break up, you wouldn’t wish it on your worst enemy.
Like NG, I was dead fortunate in meeting my forever partner after a few false starts, at least two of which could easily have been forever. Scratch that. Exactly two. The rest were girlfriends.
NG has had an advantage that not all of us have & that’s that his mum has always loved him & he speaks with great warmth about her. Peggy evidently wants her boys to be happy but also wants her boys to be on good terms.
Funnily enough, considering NG often says things about LG’s bad behaviour to his wife & baby girl and never apologised or even accepted he’d done wrong. NG has said in interviews that it’s a character fault he has but he just doesn’t do forgiveness.
Now, position all that against this. Just before one of Liam’s huge concerts, he was saying (in a very recent interview) that he didn’t go to watch City play, he was anxious - he didn’t use that word, but the things he said made that likely - and, get this, said he stayed at home to watch the match. While describing the ups & downs of the match, he mentioned that “Arkid popped by”. Our kid is local slang for brother. I suppose he might have meant Paul G. But every impression was innocently given that it was Noel.
You don’t pop round to your brothers if you hate him.
Personally I hope they never reform Oasis. The magic is lost in time, lost inside. We fans know how much that era meant to us back then. Let’s keep moving forward, glance over our shoulders but don’t look back in anger.
I think this being about NG's marriage breakdown is a good guess, and likely the case. Although as James said there's lack of 'background info' on what went on, personally, during that period, that relationship had to have been fraught. NG basically broke up with Meg (even though she eventually filed divorce, he had met someone else 1st) within 6 months of their only child's birth. There had to have been major longterm issues for that to occur, given that he's pretty family-oriented when it comes to his children at least.
No, it's about the future Noel Gallagher, meaning the Noel Gallagher now, the starfucker, the celebrity stalker.
My view has always been the Noel gave up drugs, and Meg couldn't/wouldn't. She's openly talked about struggling with alcohol and drug addiction well into the 2000s, while Noel has steered away from hard drugs since 1999.
I'm amazed this album wasn't well received when it came out,its got some great tunes on it.
Gas panic,Sunday morning call, roll it over are all classics.
Great video James. I know it's not fashionable to say but I prefer this album over What's the Story Morning Glory. The Sound and Production are Brilliant on this album. Definitely maybe my favourite album, next is this album .
On a side note , when Go let it out was released I heard an interview with Ian Brown on XFM (FEB 2000) and they asked him what the song was about, Ian said it was about Noel trying to decided whether he was going to let his Cat in , or let the Cat out 🤔
Everyone else:
"Ooh, 2000s Oasis!!!"
Me:
'Hey, James shaved!!!'
Liam performed it in Auckland, New Zealand, a few weeks ago. James, your channel is fantastic. Best show I've ever experienced! Keep up the excellent work James!
Hi James, i remember back in the day a Liams interview with some french radio station, the interviewer asked Liam which songs were gonna be the singles in the new album , and Liam responded: Go let it out, who feels love, sunday morning call AND roll it over. I was very excited at the time because roll it over was my favorite song of the album, and beign the last single i was expecting a really cool video. In the end SOTSOG only had 3 singles + gas panic as the promo song for familiar to millions. So ROLL IT OVER was the lost single of Sotsog. Could you research what happend? Why they scrapped it as a single. I always believe that was because the album didnt do the expected sales. Hope you find out what really went out
This is so interesting, I'm curious now
I can hear references to Come Together in the tripletty drum fills too. Interesting.
beatles dis tracks, love it
I can see how Noel wrote that regarding the breakup with his wife, but Liam sung that song right as he was breaking up with Patsy so maybe it's about the same thing, breaking up with ones spouse?
Yeah this is probably my favourite song from oasis post morning glory. Roll it Over and Fade in-out are just amazing songs I could listen to on repeat for hours on end.
Same!
Great work man...
Do you think you could do something on the Oasis songs NOT written by NG...
Liam, and others, seem to get short changed...
Do you think there would be much meaning in Liams songs? All three of his songs on DOYS have some variation of "here's a song" in case we forgot we were listening to music🤣
Can't tell you how much I enjoy your Oasis vids, James. There's so much rich material in the Oasis mythos and so much we never hear other than the Gallghers' squabbling or Wonderwall. Really makes the 16 year old in me smile and harken back to the 90s. Much appreciated from Jacksonville, Florida.
I’m a 62yo Brit, living in Sarasota.
One love, brother!
@@GT380man Cheers, GT.
This song is in my top 3 Oasis tunes, I've always wondered why it was so underrated. Thanks for dedicating a video to this gem
I recall seeing an interview with Noel talking about getting clean and how he half jokingly said that he was ‘surrounded by lots of people that he didn’t know or like and his wife was doing his head in’ so decided to give up drugs. I feel that SOTSOG is littered with lyrics about his whole ‘getting clean’ period of his life. Especially in songs like Where did it All go Wrong (which I believe is Noel singing back to his old self) and Gas Panic
and Meg was the person holding him back from that. Hence why they separated around the time Noel stopped drugs.
I’d say you are spot on James re this song being about Meg. I would love to see you do a video about the song Let’s All Make Believe - possibly their best ever B side & very possibly written about the break up of Oasis Mk1. The period of 98-2000 is fascinating cos not much is actually written about it!
My favourite oasis tune without a doubt
fantastic as usual James!
the plastic people = superficial people
i also always thought that was about Meg, so i Think your right.
Someone is Liam. Lots of the solo stuff seems to be about Liam as well.
Personally I think that the song could be about the straining relationship between Noel and Liam
It’s about Liam.
Again. Absolutely brilliant.
Every now and then I was checking your videos, but...after the "Masterplan conspiracy"-masterpiece, I am addicted to your work.
Very good riffs you played in the background, as well.
Chapeau, man.
I love these song breakdowns. Is there any chance you'd do one for Setting Sun? Despite being an Oasis fan for decades i just found out Noel pinched the lyrics from "Coming On Strong". I'd love to hear your thoughts on it and the original track 🎵🎵
I always figured 'Let's All Make Believe' was about Guigsy & Bonehead.
Noel has never spoken about this album in details since it got released. I believe this era 1998-2000 was very traumatising for Noel. The down after all the parties had taken it’s toll. I believe Noel experienced panic attacks and possible even worse. This was the first time Noel ever expressed himself directly in the lyrics…possible examples or references are:
Go let it out: mentioning “sister psychosis”
Sunday Morning Call: The official video spends some time at a psych ward
Gas Panic: Noel almost directly describes his panic attacks and so on…
Where Did It All Go Wrong: could be interpreted to be written about himself.
You can find more.
Noel has since then NEVER wanted to talk about those years. He’s repeatedly neglected the album. I believe he’s trying to bury those years and never want to dig up those bad experiences he had. Could be me overthinking. But I think it’s worth digging into 🤔
Cheers.
As someone who struggles with mental health, and a huge Noel fan, it would honestly mean a lot to hear him talk about this time period- rather than him do his usual “I’m great, everything is great” shtick. Obviously it’s his life & he doesn’t have to discuss it if he doesn’t want to & he doesn’t owe anyone that- but just speaking personally, it would make me feel that little bit more like if he’s gone through it then so can I.
Also… hi guys 😂 Alfie from ‘Eve’ here … didn’t realise this was your comment
@@alfie9718 He won’t ever talk about it. That’s just how he is. I think he does the same with his past experiences as he does with people… moves on without a care.
But he did write about it so you’re not alone 🙌🏽 cheers
Special song, great lyrics and one of the best Liam vocals ever
You're a legend, thanks very much for all your content, mad fer it! Cheerz from Brazil!
Perhaps a cliche theory. But he may have been thinking about Liam when writing this. As we know, their relationship was quite strained up to this point. Although Noel hadn’t let it break him down to the point of leaving the band and completely cutting ties. AKA building the “barricade” mentioned in the song. He had to deal with his brother essentially daily due to their being in the band. And their relationship was under constant surveillance by the media. TV cameras and microphones everywhere they went. Scrutinizing every move they made. There was a part of him that wanted to maintain his relationship with Liam, as seen in interviews around the time. Noel would often compliment him and say that he’d never do any projects without Liam. But inside he may have known their camaraderie wasn’t going to last.
Let me roll it is 1 of mine and my dads favourite songs of all time, great video
That whole era of Oasis has some of the most reflective and bitter songs by the band. To me it has always felt like the exact opposite of Be Here Now.
While Be Here Now is all bombast and bluster, everything cranked up to the nth degree, an over produced, coke fueled behemoth, Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants feels like the morning after. The realisation that for all the partying, for all the coke, for all the good times things had drifted far away from the fun hedonism of the early days into an empty, hollow shell of an existence.
The album is full of songs expressing fear, remorse or bitterness. Gas Panic, Roll it Over, I can see a Liar, Where did it all go Wrong, Sunday Morning Call. None of these songs fit lyrically with what came before. There's no positivity in them, no pull yourself up by your bootstraps, no positive outcome, no suggestions of a brighter future or better times to come. They're just about drug induced panic attacks, the emptiness of their current existence, the shallowness of the people around them, the falling apart of relationships(whether individual or group).
Then you add in B sides like Lets All Make Believe, As Long as They've got Cigarettes in Hell, Carry Us All, One Way Road and you've got an albums worth of this type of lyrical material.
I like to think of the first four albums as being a (very) loose quadrilogy(I might have made that word up...). Definitely Maybe is the youthful album. It's about having a head full of dreams and big ideas but not being in a position of fulfilling them so you're left with everyday life and trying to lift yourself out of its day to day mundanity. Morning Glory is the sound of the band beginning to achieve those dreams, having them within their grasp. There's a real sheen and swagger to the music. Be Here Now is them having achieved everything and sitting on top of the mountain in a Scarface kind of way. SOTSOG is, as I've said, the comedown form the mointain top. The realsisation that they're surrounded by vultures and parasites more interested in what they can get from them than anything else, and the falling apart of relationships- wives, friends, band members.
The 3rd George Harrison solo album, to be precise :)
Love the instrumental! Can we get a link? Thank you!
Obviously a reference to the film Rollover with Jane Fonda &Kris Kristofferson.
Standing On the Shoulder Of Giants is a brilliant album. Used to listen to it while me and my mate played snooker in his parents garage a few years ago. Also that "does it make it alright" part is straight out of Thunderclap Newmans, "Something In the Air".
Saw Liam Gallagher sing this tune on the new Zealand gig unbelievable such underated track LG sing it well he's always had LG legend never lost his voice
I think it's about him and liams relationship slowly falling down but he's tryna keep it going
Please please PLEASE P L E A S E make this instrumental track available somewhere, anywhere!
My vote this is about Noel and Meg. Noel and Meg met through and fell in love via drugs. When he got sober, I’m assuming that he realized that he didn’t love her anymore but he also had an infant which makes splitting up bittersweet.
can you cover dead in the water by noel? im curious to whats it about its an amazing song. thanks :)
James, I'm a fan of your channel but please look in to the rule of thirds regarding where your face should be when on camera.
Keep up the good work.
Why didn’t you do this before Liam started playing it live?
It's a beautiful song. Liam's voice is perfect and I love the guitar riffs at the end....
Just bumped onto your channel. Very unique! Oasis fan from Singapore.
You should document the heathen chemistry leaks. All i could remember Better Man (with clicks and outro completely different) was different from the official release. Alan White left suddenly (fired?) soon after that...😢
I think i still have the leaked copies somewhere on CDs. 😂
Roll it over is my most favourite Oasis tunes! The guitars, vocals, drums everything! Its my song growing up.
7:26 WHAT A BELL END 🙂Bet Noel loves this bit of footage.
I think NG is a weapon. I love Oasis and Liam but he's an arsehole imo
Great album underrated, gas panic is a mega tune also, could you please do a deep dive on it
Would love to hear about this album more. This is my 3rd favorite oasis record and I find it to be one of the best road trip albums. It’s so underrated. Thank you for covering this gem of a song
Any chance of uploading a vid of the backing track?
I haven’t gotten through all of your videos BUT it would be awesome if you get interviews with Bonehead (once he feels better), Guigs, Tony, Gem, and Andy. And it’s not to get dirt on anyone….with Bonehead, I’d be interested in the following: how did his playing change pre-Noel joining band and then if it changed with each album he was on. Did he learn (musical things) that stick with him? Did he always want to stick with rhythm guitar for live performances? I also know he plays piano - probably many more instruments - does he have a favorite? Other things for Bonehead, every interview I’ve ever seen with him and Liam since (thinks 2015?) it’s like they never lost touch with each other. Did they remain friends after Bonehead left Oasis or did they take a break and re-connect later? What made Bonehead decide to play live with Liam once he started his solo stuff? I have a bazillion questions for the rest of the list of oasis members that I listed but this comment is already way too long….
I like this album more because the 2000 gigs felt great to be at..... the more these songs get played live the more I like them.
I think its only put your money where your mouth is and little James that haven't been played live now.
Everybody knows Noel wrote this song for Yoko during his lost weekend
can you upload these instrumentals anywhere? sound incredible
I’d have said Matthews from the offset but then got to thinking of the extended surroundings at the time to include the band as a whole. NG even said in the interview for the SOTSOG tour that Oasis ‘aren’t fashionable anymore’. The whole album is a paradigm shift into the depths of hopelessness and despair. It’s not NG debuting a new sound for a new band lineup, it’s the song Help, dragged out over an entire record.
To be honest, going into this (or really a few minutes in) I thought this would have been about Liam, but considering their relationship even before the thing in Barcelona 2000 happened (at least I think that was when it happened) I think it is most likely about Meg Mathews, who was my second guess.
Standing on the Shoulder of Giants could have been a great album with a few tweaks:
- Go Let It Out with Austin Powers intro
- Where Did It All Go Wrong as per demo version
- Let's All Make Believe included
- Who Feels Love as per acoustic version Noel did on Radio 1
- Gas Panic more trip hop as per demo
- Little by Little included, which was held back
- One Way Road and/or Cigarettes in Hell included
Put your Money... removed ans Little James too

It was recorded in 1999 released in February 2000.
James big fan in Baltimore Maryland USA here. Lovin' the Oasis content mate. Keep em coming🤘
Fascinating stuff James, I really do enjoy youre YT channel, THANKYOU!!!
Glad your taking a look at the 2nd Phase of Oasis. This is really territory that is not discussed, specifically on RUclips. Very well done.
This song would be fitting as an 'end of oasis' era song, as Noel could've given a hundred million reasons to build a barricade with Liam etc and how their relationship had became distant as was falling apart (separate tour busses and more)
One of my all time favourites, possibly my favourite post 1997 Oasis tune.
I always thought Johnny Marr played the solo?
I thought Paul Stacy played it
Love it when you do videos about song interpretation..✌🏼💙
Absolutely agree it’s about Meg.
And you have conveyed the message perfectly James..’come together’
Maybe this is why Liam has chosen to sing this on tour? What’s the brotherhood back?
When he first put out it on the set list I was shocked..it’s not a tune you hear about all that often..and with so many other bangers to choose from, why this?
IDK maybe it’s silly but it’s what I have even thinking 🤔
I love every Oasis album, they all have great songs on them. This album does not have any bad songs on it, and has one of my favourite openings to an album, Fuckin' In The Bushes. Go Let It Out, Gas Panic!, Sunday Morning Call and Roll It Over are amazing.
It’s got some rotters. Rip offs of the doors hands upon the wheel etc.
Put your money... is very bad, the worst oasis song in my opinion. The rest is good !
@@fabbb81 little James is appalling - plodding, Beatles derivative, childish lyrics and rhyming. A million miles away from bring it on down
I loved SOTSOG! Listening to Where Did it all Go Wrong and then the redemption of Sunday Morning Call was so therapeutic for me. Great Bsides as well.
I might be the only person whose favorite album is SOTSOG but i'm ok with that :)
Another fantastic vid James.
I really do like Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants. Probably my 3rd fav Oasis album. Favs of mine are Go Let It Out, Who Feels Love?, Gas Panic!, Where Did It All Go Wrong? and Sunday Morning Call and of course, Roll It Over. Even I like Little James, which I don’t hear many Oasis fans like.
I like Little James, probably because it sounds a little bit like Nintendo 64 music.
@@PaperBanjo64 I mean, I don’t play Nintendo 64, but I’m glad you like it. 😂
Oh my God! This is the first time of seen James without a beard and he suits just as much as he does with a beard! (edited)
? With a beard?
Yeah, thanks
Was always my favourite sing from the first listen! Love the mood and the simple but feel of the solo 😍
SOSOG was so bad :D
Amazing video, one of my favorite oasis song of all time!!!
Do a video where you rebuild and describe all the guitar part and the other Instrument in the song, please!
Covering some more Beatles stuff may help grow your channel even more, although saying that there's already a good few channels that already do this. The great thing/appeal about your channel is there's not many that go as deep on Oasis stuff and you might want to keep it that way. Just a thought.
i love standing on the shoulder of giants, of course it does not compare to the first 3 records but genuinely its a fantastic album and a great change of pace
