Do you need to put the tray back? Or can you leave this off and air will be sucked in more/ less efficiently? Great install. I fitted a K&N filter but with the OEM box; when I replace this, will have this open. The exhaust needs doing though, and I know DAP have done this ever so efficiently. Thumbs up all day, every day...
Just got this on our SQ, kit two separate silicone sleeves. Was a tad cumbersome to install to make sure everything lined up properly, and not have the heat shield want to pop off the mounts. Why does the S4 kit have just one tube?? Also the connection to the TB can be a pain since there's only around 1/2" to attach it to, always wants to come off.
Do you need an type of engine management correction for this intake? ie.. Remapping? Also, does the silicone hose which goes into the TB have a nipple for the vacuum hose you removed from the Original accordion hose?
Does this intake deal with heat well, I live in Florida and its already hot as is so i opted for the AWE kit instead of the IE one because its still an enclosed box, the only thing i dont like about it is that the supercharger wine is very quite and can only be heard at low rpms after about 4k or so sound-actor kicks and and drowns it out. Id like to use the IE one for the sound but im worried about have the car suck up alot of engine bay heat.
Hi, Great video - One question: Where did you place the Air Mass Sensor or the 3.0L TFSI engine does not have one? if it does have one, where is it located, Thanks!
@@TRICKYBYRD Thanks - I found that this engine has (2) Pressure Booster Sensors, and they provide the MAP data to the ECU - both are placed on each side of the Supercharger (in the picture of the video, the left one is right above the tip of the tool shown.
I heard this could also be installed in 3.2's as they have similar or exact mounting spots. Got an '11 Q5 3.2 and was thinking if this would make any sense :D
Does this intake fit an AUDI A6 C7 (2013) quattro? or what intake do you recommend? ive been looking for one for the longest time and i cant find one. please advise.
The question still remains if they really produce any real power. Some have even reduced power. Sound good but... Would like to see if there has been any noticeable difference in throttle response or performance over the rev line. Adding a less restrictive filter to the Audi airbox works the same?
I think the stock airbox and filter is a pretty good design from OEM. If I owned one if these cars I would gut out the stock box, swiss cheese the passenger side away from the engine, stick a decent foam type filter (it comes to mind,) and possibly change out the hose itself for something larger/ with less pleating like a stainless/ silicone tube/ silicone couplers. Back in the days of vw ownership from mk1 on, we used to swiss cheese CIS airboxes all the time. It works well. Looks like that box has a snorkel inside the inlet portion as well, just like most manufacturers do. Usually they pop out with a flathead. I bet I could make the stock box function just like that CAI. Might not look much different than OEM at first glance but it would probably produce some decent gains and the same SC noise if done correctly.
@@psavel274 Hi Pete. I have made adjustments to many cars over the years and while a noticeably modified car, (larger turbo, software, etc) probably will benefit from a CAI, (that uses an inlet pipe other than metal) most don't. My current Audi A6 TDI has a software modification and a high flow air filter in the stock airbox. I don't feel the need to put holes in the airbox as it's design from Audi seems more than sufficient for airflow, (as well as cool air). However, if there were additional mods, (like a larger turbo) that would be a good move. In the past when drilling holes in a stock airbox, I put a screen inside the box to cover the holes. Just to keep larger items/bugs from getting in. FYI- I really didn't notice any difference in performance with the fiter but I can slightly hear the turbo spool at times.
Hi D.A.W.. i been trying to find a downpipe resonator in 2.5 or 3inches.. pretty much the mid section of my exhaust from the cat back.. i cant find anyone who sells it for a 2004 audi a4 1.8t b6 quattro 6 speed manual. Can u help me find the upgrade replacement?
Frosandcons 420 If you get an aftermarket intake like IE and you get a Stage 1 tune..It works better for the tune vs stock intake..Now just intake..I personally feel only gain I got was the SC noise..
@@HuheJass I guess..Honestly with an open intake even without tune it definitely can finallly here some whine but going DP is where its at..Specially changing both pulley
@@mikeortiz6584 idk why but Im considering a cold air intake (even just replacing the baffled section) just for the sound. I would probably do the tune to get launch control back. If I wasn’t worried about the trans I would definitely do the downpipes, cat delete, and pulley upgrades! Doesn’t that bump it to over 450-550ish hp??
somehow I can't seem to get the supercharger noise on my S4. I changed the intake pipe and also drilled some holes in the airbox lid to expose the air filter. still no whine and I wonder why. my S4 has a 2009 manufacturing date, but was registered in 2010.
I just bought a 2014 S4 that has this intake and a IE stage 1 tune. Im disappointed cause I cant hear my supercharger for shit 🤷🏼♂️! At least with the windows up when I crack into it, I cant hear any supercharger whine 🤔
Remove and replace or introduce the maf just past the cats basically at the very beginning of the down pipes. Divert catch can into intake inplace of maf. You'll need a new silicone adapter you can sloppily jab a hole or 2 in for the catch can and ZOOOMMM...off you go to the body/auto shop

soundcheck before/after would be awesome next time :)
literally had a heart attack thinking all those screws were going to fall in the engine bay once you flipped the filter box upside down
Literally?
Literally??
Yay, installing it now! Thanks for the video.
13:54 Doesn't look like you have to take the trim or duct parts off at all.
Great narration . I really appreciate it, it helped me out . Thank you!
"supercharger noise" AWESOME!
I went with IE on my A3, it is great. So much whoosh
11:40 so that little vacuum hose have to be disconnected now ?
Would have been nice to have Dyno before and after to know what it does (Bang For the Buck). Good videos.
We did a few back then when "tuningbox" wanted to expand in the USA.
These are great heat generators, nothing cold about them
Thanks for the video! Helped me do my install.
I love you guys. THANK YOU
Looks like it went from a cold intake to a warm or hot intake.

Don't you need to somehow adjust the software/mapping for this to work, as this mod changes the amount of air that gets into the engine?
Awesome video cuz I'm thinking about getting a tune but I think I'm instead of doing the intake I'm just going to buy this the K&N air filter for it
Hi.. looking to flash my 14 S5, and thought this would be best to do beforehand..will this be ok in colder areas/bc canada .. thanks

What happened to your snow screen in front of the intake scoop? Did you guys take it off, or was it missing when you got the car?
I already throw mine away, air filter can catch everything already anyway.
what did you do with the vacuum hose you took off by the throttle body?
At 11.58 he reattaches it to the intake hose.
That was the exact same thing I was interested in, couldn't see where he put that besides just saying that he connected it.
I was wondering if the orientation of where the filter meets the accordion hose is virtually the same as stock location?
What Iif the secondary air hose os broken and not connected will the car loose power?
Man....I really need to hear this in person before I buy it. The sound might just be obnoxious.
Once you close the hood its sweet
Add more isulation under the hood if you feel its annoying or go with eventuri intake it has less whineee

Unrelated, but do these cars not have MAF sensors?
Correct, no MAF sensor
the tiny filter for the secondary air hose it's important or it doesn't matter if I put it or no?
Great video but the link to buy the intake doesn't work
How water safe is this intake?
7-Spd DCT service next
my injen air intake does not come with the secondary air breather filter. Should I buy one?
Does this intake fit an AUDI A6 C7 (2013) quattro? or what intake do you recommend? ive been looking for one for the longest time and i cant find one. please advise.
Good question
What about the vacuum hose by the throttle body?
Also Can you leave the stock air intake cover connected? (The stock airbox)
Can you just buy a performance filter cone and just attach it to the factory intake tube?
Yes actually. AFE pro 5 R is a great drop-in upgrade filter.
