The B-52 is a real Legend in military aviation, flying all over the world since the 50's and will be still in opération in the Air Force for the next 30 years !
@Pushty Greek Going back in the past, US aircraft have had a much better air to air history in actual combat. The US isn’t exactly behind in missile tech, it has a different doctrine. Hypersonics are fast but more detectable by flying at higher altitudes. They have done things like the HVT-1 and 2. Or the X-51. The US likes to his most of its capabilities, like Sr-71 or F-117.
Wow!!! After watching this video several times, I will make my comment, kkk... Madness, madness, madness!!! B-52 the most impressive aircraft in the wold, with well-deserved escort...SHOW!!! Congratulations to the pilots, team of mechanics who take care of this giant. I love the B-52!!! LONG LIVE THE AMERICAN AIR FORCE!
About two years ago I spent a month helping a retired American Airlines pilot through a month of surgery; a triple bypass that he had put off for twelve years became quintuple bypass by this time and, between two weeks in hospital followed by two weeks in a rehab, it was a rough month for us both. He had flown B-52 in the Air force during Vietnam and after; during the end of propeller models that were subsequently changed to and eventually built with Pratt and Whitney jet engines. He not only confirmed a B-52 WILL go .99 Mach, as I had heard but will fly with up to three engines out. Now, he had some amazing stories about how durable these things are and some of the things that can and did go wrong. They'd get shot full of holes, massive fuel and hydraulic leaks, pieces would get shot off or flutter and just break off during flight, etc. and, these things would still fly. However, he had retired as a commercial airline pilot and had flown just about everything made and said many times, those B-52s generally should have been retired many decades before but, everything built that was supposed to replace them, including the B-1 Bomber, had far more problems and were such unreliable POS's compared to the, "Old Dinosaurs" he used to fly, that that's why the Boeing B-52 was never fully retired. In 1990, during the first Persian Gulf War, while I was in the NAVY, he went back to active duty and flew B52s again. They needed experienced pilots and, Because they just worked! He said the crews made pieces themselves when spares were unavailable. Can you imagine? Hey Jim, get me the Pop Rivets and a couple Vice Grips, she lost another trim tab!
Wow! I didn't know that the B-52 became operational since 1950 and currently 58 of them are in active service. The age of this monster aircraft now is 70 years of remarkable and courageous achievement. Unthinkable and unfathomable display of heroic gallantry.
use to see them in Vietnam, I was in the Marines along the DMZ and they would bomb along the Z and North Vietnam, they flew so high could not see them till we saw and heard the bombs exploding on the ground, usually, 3 planes flew at the same time. Still remember till this day, what a sight!
Grew up near LAFB and until it was decommissioned they always had one in the air. One would take off before the other landed. Seemed strange not hearing them anymore.
Jet engines have come a long way since the 1950's. I literally used to live right across the street from Wright Patterson AFB, and could see and even hear the B52's taking off. Heavy black smoke billowed from the engines, and you could see it falling to the ground as they took off.
@@GregSr Probably why the black exhaust is heavy and you can see it falling to the ground. They also smoked considerably while circling to land, so I assumed they were really dirty. I'm sure the engines have been upgraded several times, or even replaced with newer models. Thanks Greg!
It's a beautiful massive beast. It's payload is beyond imagination. I don't know but I reckon without those jockey wheels on the wing tips the wings would crack off when landing???? 👍🏻🇦🇺👍🏻
The United States loses its first B-52 of the war. The eight-engine bomber was brought down by a North Vietnamese surface-to-air missile near Vinh on the day when B-52s flew their heaviest raids of the war over North Vietnam. The Communistss claimed 19 B-52s shot down to date.
58 gallons of fuel per second. Not a fucking joke. That’s an impressive consumption of fuel.! And an even more incredibly beautiful impact on our beautiful air quality

From 1960 to 1968 we had maybe 3 or more in the air 24/7/365. Plus the fuel the airborne tankers burned during in-flight refueling. Imagine the tons of JP-4 they burned !
These things are coming on 70 years old. Jet engines have moved on considerably since. Rolls Royce offered an engine replacement programme that would give the B52 better takeoff, climb, cruise and half the number of engines and halve the fuel burn. But “Not made here” prevented the upgrade from taking place.
They have decided to upgrade the engines, but are going to go with 8 engines that have about the same thrust as the current TF-33 engines, they are considering the GE CF34, GE Passport, PW815 and RR BR725. Supposedly the contract will be awarded in May 2021. This should save a lot of fuel and maintenance. If they pick RR, it will be made at the RR plant in Indianapolis.
By the last few days of that bombing, the North ran out of missiles. Those bombers COULD have leveled the entire country, with NO resistance. America's Finest Aircraft Ever Built
America's finest aircraft is without a doubt the A10 brrrttt machine
Let's say america's longest lasting bomber jet
It's Iconic as they say these days. An enemy kinda hates to see them pickling off tons of ordnance at em.
In Vietnam we use all kinds of everyday household appliances made from these aircraft cases when they are shot down during the Vietnam War.

The heavy black smoke is caused by water being injected into the engine during takeoff. The water turns to steam and temporarily increases thrust.
