  • Agnes Pemberton, the bold songstress of 1930s Worcester, rose from humble beginnings to captivate audiences with her sultry voice and risqué repertoire. Known for pushing the boundaries of decorum, she blended jazz melodies with provocative lyrics that scandalized and enamored alike. Performing at the notorious "Midnight Mirage" in Soho, Agnes charmed with her smoky voice and irreverent humor, becoming a legend of the era. She continued to inspire through the decades, peacefully passing away in 1994, leaving behind a legacy of daring independence and timeless musical allure.

I remember this song from the Radio Luxembourg show “The Relishteenies”, I can’t believe it took that long for the management to catch on.😂

I cried with laughter. It's so clever, it's the quiver in the voice that is spot on. Can imagine Gracie Fields belting this out if X rated was about un the 1930's. Thank you for the humour boost.

I would love to know how this "record" was made. It may well have been adapted from a real record as "Gentlemens Relish" was a thing in those days. It was an anchovy paste made with butter and herbs.
Very clever fake, had me going for a few seconds, because there were a lot of "saucy" songs at the time. But they didn't get quite this blatant.
It sounds wonderful, I love that era. I would like to know whose voice it really is.

Is this genuinely a 1930's recording? I would have thought that censorship would have made it difficult to produce such a record pre-war, and the use of "Dick" would have been unusual at the time - a more modern transatlantic import.

@@Unhinged_Records And why there is no mention of Agnes Pemberton anywhere else online. Wikipedia may be suspect at times, but if it's not on there, then it likely don't exist. Marvellous song though.

@@lorisarvendu I'd suggest having a quick look at the video description and the general premise of the channel. Because you've both clearly missed it.
