And this is why this is my favorite metal song. That it can be converted to classical shows what a complex piece these guys have composed. A piece of the ages interpreted and played with such diligence and precision here.
"Pendulous Skin" would be a beautiful cover on the piano!! You should really consider sending this to the band and see if you could get a clearance to do a piano tribute album for the band. It doesn't get much better than this~
awesome! guitar solo part's beautiful, gave me tears. (the piano makes it sound like it'd fit Kingdom Hearts 2 soundtrack pretty well... guess I'm the only one thinking that)
i can defiantly see why people could dislike this... they really dont see the art and beauty of it. Im glad my mom introduced me to classical at a early age so i could like it and accept it. Great work!
Mastodon did an awesome fucking job in writing and arranging this piece, especially the chorus, but you, man, you just raised this chorus to a whole new level. just want to float in space and watch those supernovae blaze
I randomly listen to this every once in a while, and it always baffles me as to how beautiful it is when played through this instrument. Truly a statement to Mastodon's writing abilities and this musicians ability to translate music. Bravo
I love this, the overall theme of the song sounds much darker than the original and the tempo increase only adds to the mood. This is absolutely fantastic.
Man i'm a huge Mastodon fan and I have to say you took that song to a whole different level. It sounds profound as the original but with a more ominious tone. You really just blew everyones mind who watches this video.
Incredible! I almost cried. Your piano brought so much emotion ...it really pulled on my heart. Loved it. My parents would love it too....they would never know it was "Metallic".
I rarely ever comment on RUclips videos, only when it's deserved, and you deserve it. You captured the essence of this song wonderfully, you gave me shivers and took me somewhere else. GREAT fucking job.
a truly incredible piece. your interpretation of the middle section/solo etc is fantastic. I hope the Mastodon boys have seen this. Right tempo for solo piano as well, love it.
I flew beyond the sun before it was time Burning all the gold that held me inside my shell Waiting for you to pull me back in I almost sat the world in my sights Close, low bright eyes fading Faster than stars falling How can I tell you I failed? Tell you I failed Fallen from grace cause I been away too long Leaving you behind with my lonesome song Now I'm lost in oblivion I tried to bore a hole into the ground Breaking all the fingers and the nails from my hand The eyes of the child see no wrong Ignorant bliss in Close, low bright eyes fading Faster than stars falling How can I tell you I failed? Tell you I failed Fallen from grace cause I been away too long Leaving you behind with my lonesome song Now I'm lost Fallen from grace cause I been away too long Leaving you behind with my lonesome song Now I'm lost in oblivion Fallen from grace cause I been away too long Leaving you behind with my lonesome song Now I'm lost Fallen from grace cause I been away too long Leaving you behind with my lonesome song Now I'm lost in oblivion In oblivion, in oblivion
Massive props for figuring out the verse by ear. I have the "official" transcription for guitar/vocals and tried learning the beginning and couldn't make it much past where the vocals came in because the guitars and voices play in two different meters/feels. However, you make it sound effortless.
absolutely extraordinary! fantastic playing and without a doubt one of my favorite songs. i don't think there's any better testament to a modern musicians talent and skill than hearing their work transfer over seamlessly and beautifully to traditional/classical instruments! 'Mastodon' are of course seen as amazing progressive metal musicians, but this truly proves that not only are they extraordinary musicians, but legitimate composers of the 21st century!
@husty2308 Exactly. Being a metal musician myself, I find it unfortunate that so many are so closed-minded as to just instantly shut it all out... This person is really doing us musicians a favor! :D
one of my most favorite songs ever, if not THE most favorite! great cover! it takes a bit till the feeling gets one, but once the pre-chorus hits, goosebumps are guaranteed! really great cover, i love how u managed not to screw up, but to catch the whole atmosphere of the song :) i have to check out your channel!
beautiful! the intro is even more haunting, i love it. and the tempo is works well, unless you were to sing to it, then slow it down. mastodon should have you record this on a grand piano and put it in their box set!
Jeebus, I was stressed as Hell today... But I think I might just love you for this cover... That was simply amazing, your arrangment is perfect. Thanks so much for putting this up ^__^
Brilliant job! I was truly amazed by how well the bridge and solo came out, quite the astonishing cover, also I feel honored to be under your related videos with the Acoustic Cover :P
This is absolutely beautiful. I love hearing songs done in completely different directions, and I must say, you certainly did it justice. Even the weird trippy part about three minutes in, I would have guessed it would be incredibly hard to pull off on a piano, but you definitely pulled it off.
Wow i thank you for putting this up. i agree with everyone who has posted a comment. the melodies are brought out incredibly well when played like this. you shall put other paino mastodon covers up yes? :) good job :)
The part that sounds really ethereal to me is the instrumentation ("pianization"..?) of the lyric, "Fallin' from grace, cause I've been away too long." The "away too long" part comes through beautifully. Amazing cover, keep it up! Do Seabeast next!
This demonstrates how good mastodon can be at composing songs. But this rendition is awe inspiring.
I think their 7 studio albums already showed many of us.
the chorus, when that rising guitar riff hits, i always thought it sounded very pianoish and now that im listening to this, theyre the same in my head
thank you for the video I lost count how many times I came back
Same
You really captured the melancholy in this song.
It doesn't get much better than this~
i showed this video to my guitar and it cried and slapped me
awesome! guitar solo part's beautiful, gave me tears. (the piano makes it sound like it'd fit Kingdom Hearts 2 soundtrack pretty well... guess I'm the only one thinking that)
Really good cover, I love how well their songs translate to piano!
The pre-chorus sounds amazing on a piano! Good job :)
i can defiantly see why people could dislike this... they really dont see the art and beauty of it. Im glad my mom introduced me to classical at a early age so i could like it and accept it. Great work!
I honestly didn't think a piano cover of a Mastodon would work, but you proved me wrong. This sounds totally beautiful.
Mind-blowing, and a fantastic testament to the immense depths of many Mastodon songs.
MAGNÍFICO!!!
Gracias!!!
I love the original song, but this on the piano is beautiful, its soothing and chilling at the same time, it cannot be described.
Mastodon did an awesome fucking job in writing and arranging this piece, especially the chorus, but you, man, you just raised this chorus to a whole new level. just want to float in space and watch those supernovae blaze
When I first heard the intro I was kind of skeptical on how it would turn out. But after it started I just dropped my jaw in amazement.... Amazing!
This gave me chills, and not gonna lie moved me to tears. Well done that was a phenomenal cover!
I agree, amazing work. I didnt think I could ever become MORE moved and/or inspired by Mastodon's work, but sheesh.
I randomly listen to this every once in a while, and it always baffles me as to how beautiful it is when played through this instrument. Truly a statement to Mastodon's writing abilities and this musicians ability to translate music. Bravo
Great for walking outside on a cool, fall day
This is insane! Wish i could learn this one 😭 amazing work!!! Already came here a few hundred of times ❤
This is so beautiful that makes me cry! Flawless performance!
Excellent rendition of a godlike song
Wow. Just off the scale of excellence. Such detail.
Your hands look so relaxed as if it were easy to play 4 things at the same time. Kudos! You have natural talent!
Enchanting! I could watch this video a million times and never get sick of it. I only wish I took up piano instead of drums twenty years ago.
Really neat!! Two worlds collide in this haunting rock ballad!
I love this, the overall theme of the song sounds much darker than the original and the tempo increase only adds to the mood. This is absolutely fantastic.
soo cool, the intro sounds even more menacing on piano!
This is just amazing.
I can't express how taken back I am by this cover.
A esto yo lo llamo Talento! que buen cover de una gran Cancion de Mastodon.felicidades
Dude you are awesome. I have shared this with many of my friends. After listening many times, I am still astonished at how good this sounds. Rock!
This is awesome! The four guys in Mastodon would be proud
Man i'm a huge Mastodon fan and I have to say you took that song to a whole different level. It sounds profound as the original but with a more ominious tone. You really just blew everyones mind who watches this video.
Wow. Just wow.
Speachless. So beautiful.
just goes to show ya what an awesome band mastodon is! and what an awesome pianist you are. very well done. Favorite!
This could seriously be a song for a Video Game Soundtrack, just awesome! gave me epic goosebumps reassuring me : "damn! that is some good music!"
I didn't know what to expect with this, but this was really awesome. Excellent work.
Incredible! I almost cried. Your piano brought so much emotion ...it really pulled on my heart. Loved it. My parents would love it too....they would never know it was "Metallic".
I wish more people transcribed into piano, absolutely beautiful and keep up the playing.
Awesome cover, the beginning sounds so haunting on the piano.
This is positively phenomenal. I would have never thought that it could be converted in such a masterful way. Well done, and I envy your skill!!
prechorus and chorus were absolut amazing!
I rarely ever comment on RUclips videos, only when it's deserved, and you deserve it. You captured the essence of this song wonderfully, you gave me shivers and took me somewhere else. GREAT fucking job.
Omg. This is amazing dude. My fav song off this amazing album and this piano version gives it a really cool aura. So creepy. You deserve more views.
That was a fantastic adaptation! Thanks for sharing.
a truly incredible piece. your interpretation of the middle section/solo etc is fantastic. I hope the Mastodon boys have seen this. Right tempo for solo piano as well, love it.
Awesome!!!
I never thought that this music could sound so amazing on the piano...
Thanks for posting this!
i must say, top notch!!! A truly amazing rendition..
A beautiful twist to an already beautiful song.
Wohohooo!! that gave me chills! Excellent cover, i loved it!
I'm speechless! HUGE thumps-up and fav!
awsome work. I didn't know what to expect when i saw the title of the vid but i'm amazed. awsome idea!
Beautifully done. It was a pleasure to hear.
I flew beyond the sun before it was time
Burning all the gold that held me inside my shell
Waiting for you to pull me back in
I almost sat the world in my sights
Close, low bright eyes fading
Faster than stars falling
How can I tell you I failed?
Tell you I failed
Fallen from grace cause I been away too long
Leaving you behind with my lonesome song
Now I'm lost in oblivion
I tried to bore a hole into the ground
Breaking all the fingers and the nails from my hand
The eyes of the child see no wrong
Ignorant bliss in
Close, low bright eyes fading
Faster than stars falling
How can I tell you I failed?
Tell you I failed
Fallen from grace cause I been away too long
Leaving you behind with my lonesome song
Now I'm lost
Fallen from grace cause I been away too long
Leaving you behind with my lonesome song
Now I'm lost in oblivion
Fallen from grace cause I been away too long
Leaving you behind with my lonesome song
Now I'm lost
Fallen from grace cause I been away too long
Leaving you behind with my lonesome song
Now I'm lost in oblivion
In oblivion, in oblivion
the main bits of the song are impressive enugh but you even nailed the solo and all the parts around it.. amazing
ive listened to this at least 10 times today. it's utterly amazing. keep it up :)
the best cover ive seen in any format for this song.
I just saw them live, you did fine on the tempo... Like one of the comments said they wanted to learn piano... it's because this is awesome.
That is a brilliant adaptation, seriously.
Really enjoyed how you combined the vocals with the instrumental!
Congratz \m/
That was incredible, it sounded even more proggy on piano than the actual recording. You have some true talent there my friend
damn awesome man. im a huge mastodon fan and this was one of the best covers ive heard
Great cover! Its like a whole different song but also so close to it!
Respect!
I'm ripping this to my music library from where it will take trips to my ears many a'times, you have no say in it.
the vocal melody for this song is really good.

This vid shows the mastery of both You and the Mastodon guys :D
with respect, Poland.

Some of the parts on this song when played on piano reminds me of the final levels on Zelda NES. Wonderful playing my friend.

Alex my ninja I fux with you homie. You made the music Mastodon sound like it was written by Richard Wagner or Carl Orrf.
this is absolutely amazing! beautiful work:)
Wow, you playing this song on piano really made me realize how greatly put together this song is. Sounds great. =)
