Pre-ordering is a practice that has become very outdated nowadays and gamers would do well to stop buying games before release. Unfortunately some people either don't care or are too impatient to wait for reviews
Potential red flag for me is that the interface doesn’t seem to be customisable. In the past we could move all the panels around and add new ones, so the default layout really didn’t matter to me

I’m far less concerned about the lack of game being shown before release than the console/mobile ification of FM. The game is being made worse to simplify it for casual players. I play all 3 ways of playing the game but I do not want my core playing experience (PC) to be less than it should be. It’s a slap in the face to hardcore fans that have bought the game for 10+ years
I think the whole idea with the panels is to make the game accessible to both casual and hardcore players, allowing you to get basic stuff on a panel but then drilling down to all the detail people are used to. Maybe this is too optimistic, but I would expect SI to not disregard people who buy the game every year.
@@brgracio This is what they should do however it's not what Miles has said in every interview. He has been talking up simplifying the game over and over.
@@doyle8711what's wrong with simplification? The goal of every company is to simplify features for their customers. A lot of the current features in the game are just a ballache to interact with, smarter UIs might help to fix this.
This is by far the best and most honest take on FM25 from any of the big content creators. Far too many unanswered questions this year about FM25, the delay, the fact we've seen nothing of the graphics/match engine, the pictures of the frankly awful UI they've released have me worried. Everything is so small, I've no idea how anyone is supposed to play that on a laptop. They've not even confirmed you can take your save from FM24 into FM25. With its cards and tiles it all looks optimised for console (which I don't play on).The removal of features and the blog posts from SI make me feel that FM25 will pretty much be a bug filled beta. I'll wait for the reviews by content creators llike yourself before decidng to buy it, so I'm trusting you guys to be absolutely honest and transparent with your reviews. If it's as bad as I think it's going to be I'll be happy with FM24 with an updated database for another year.
I've always hated how FM's coming out months in to the football season. This farce could've been used to reset this issue by SI giving themself more time to develop this version of FM25 and instead just releasing a stop-gap data pack for FM24 to cover this season, then releasing the new-flashy-Unity game next season AT THE START OF THE SEASON in August. It just makes sense.
I'm not nervous. I can still play FM24 if the game sucks. I played CM 01/02 for years while we waited for FM to get good, and I can do the same here. The people melting down over FM25 need help. Definitely not pre-ordering FM25, there's no reason to, and they haven't given us one.
I’m not getting mad because FM25 seems bad (my first one was CM 01/02) but I’m worried because this can deal a huge damage to SI, they’ve made the step to Unity, there’s no way back and if FM25 will be a bad early access game, well, the future ahead for SI seems to be an hard one

I'm 99% sure they are waaay behind where they're supposed to be in the development cycle. 1, They pushed the release date => pushing the release by a few weeks is always the worst possible sign. Publishers don't move a release to iron out minor bugs, they do that AFTER the release. Postponing it means they didn't have the confidence they could get it in a playable state by the original date. Problem is, what can they accomplish in a few additional weeks? And unlike other games, SI don't have much leeway to delay it further due to the yearly release schedule, if they can't get the game out before christmas, they might as well just cancel it and concentrate on '26. 2, After years of development, a few weeks before release, there's still not a single screenshot of the match engine, not to mention videos. Beyond weird. 3, Removed features. If I wanted to be cynical I'd say they wanna pull a Madden, and just use them as the "new" features for the next few years' releases, but I don't think SI would do it if they didn't feel like they absolutely have to, because the optics are horrible. 4, No early access - they may still announce it, but I'd very suprised. Bottom line, I fully expect this to be a buggy unfinished mess of a release, and that's the good scenario. Definitely wouldn't pre-order.
FM is like upgrading a phone, very incremental upgrades every year. I upgrade every 3 years or so (unless I get it for free like FM24), or else you will barely be able to notice what has changed
60 euro for a half finished video game is just too much. SI screwed this up big time. For years they have announced FM25 and said they wont do much changes to Fm23 and 24. yet we are still getting a half finished game which the rest of it will come out in 26. so no point in buying 25 if we can just download it for free before 26 comes out
Especially when they said FM23 and 24 won’t be huge updates because they’re working on FM25. Wtf have they been doing for the past 2-3 years if they seemingly have nothing to show off. If going to a new engine is your flagship, then show it off!
Even the one feature they feel confident in feels like a downer. They talked about women's football as early as 2021, after four years the feeling is more "it's about time" rather than seeing it as an exciting new thing. Combine that with the lack of national team management and the hype for the feature is kind of dead, at least for me.
Right, then you combine the fact they've removed loads of small features to help get it done quicker then totally negated that logic by adding a big brand new feature in women's football. This was not the time for it. Also if you do research on women's gaming share in sports games it is extremely small. Features are usually added because there's a demand for it not because it's a nice thing to do.

You know what sounds like a bad idea to me? Implementing women football when you don't even have the basic game together. The amount of time to input everything regarding female football and it's balancing has to be HUGE, and I'll bet everyone that no more then 5% of the saves will even touch women's football. But who t f needs international football ehj. LOL
Outside of day 1 content creating *COUGH* Lollujo *COUGH* it'll be 0.5% for women, but you know they'll use day 1 numbers as a year long stat for the women to hide the fact they're pandering to a non existent fanbase
took me 7 minutes in to realise you are wearing a Celtic shirt, as a Celtic fan.... such was my keenness to learn something new about this game, speaks volumes for the reasons for this video
Lol remember when Z made a vid complaining abt dynamic youth rating not being a thing despite it being the apparent big thing in fm23 and miles was just bitching in the comments
He's full of shit. Spent years telling everyone it was impossible to put xG in the game and that there was no point (and the same thing about 3d match engine if you remember back in the day). One of the biggest egomaniacs and bullshitters in the business.
You can see it in the UI. They gunning for mobile. Same happened with PES (now eFootball). Ripped the soul out of the game - essentially - 'to modernise'. They've been building the game back up for 3 years and we still have no Master League. Would be sad to see FM go the same way.
The thing that most non developers don’t understand is that the engine may not do that much for visuals. If they’re just porting the current assets all we’ll see is maybe a little different lighting. But unity is not necessarily known for being a great rendering engine
They added the women's game which is great, but the fact they took out showing a players weight because of it? Now I don't care what a player weighs, but the fact they took it out because "women's weight fluctuates and blah blah blah" just shows what's important to them, it shows where their head's at, and honestly it doesn't seem like the focus is on making the most authentic football management simulator possible. I went from buying the game every year and 1000's of hours every year to skipping 21 and 22, now 24, and I think 23 will be the last one I buy unless SI go back to their roots. Unfortunately I doubt that will happen unless Miles were to leave.😥
Thank you for making this video, there are a few content creators that I won't name who are blindly championing FM and ignoring all the warning signs. We all want the best game possible but we need to hold SI the to right standards.
Not pre-ordering videogames should be the normal thing to do. I think there are only a handful of games that you definitely know they'll always be bangers. For everything else you should always wait until the game is out 🤷🏻♂️
I personally stopped preordering games with No Mans Sky. I’m very pleased with how it turned out eventually, but I was pissed at launch. Wish I waited for a discount… Not even preordering Atlus games, games I have never been disappointed with
I only make exceptions for Yakuza/Like a Dragon games... If only because I'm a huge fanboy, they've never let me down, and also I might not have the money when the game comes out and I'm playing it launch day. That said if you want the preorder bonus anyway, just pre-order a few hours before launch. Then you get the PO bonus and it might be too late for the publisher to add you to the preorder numbers.
Zealand, I think Kirby"s height is what it is, is because these are not actually screenshots, but mockups made in a separate program for a presentation, which is why the highlights and some of the information doesn't make sense. So really, we don't even have anything from the game, as of yet.
If you'll closely look at "screenshots", her info panel completely match Ferguson's info panel. Height, Reputation, Personality and Foots. So, you're right, it's not an actual screenshots, but placeholders
I am one of those weirdos who remembers the introduction to 3D match engines and the backlash originally it had. That was 10x better organised than this update and that scares me considering how long it took for 3D engine to be accepted
The Fact that SI even think that new FM logo is good enough concerns me, it's make me wonder if they have any Quality Control to check everything before it's release.
@DubberRucks it looks ridiculous. Who signed off on that? I did see someone mock it up and if you slightly rotate it a bit it's a lot easier to read but still the classic FM logo was simple and perfect in my opinion. Changing for changing sake is stupid.
14:47 Yes, but can you see the difference in the amount of resources necessary between adding the 2nd Indonesian division, and adding women's football to the game? The first one is probably done in a couple of days, and the latter took MULTIPLE years because they had to rebuild everything to make it work. If they gave more resources to their existing FM development team instead of creating a new one for women's football, the game probably wouldn't be delayed and most of the issues would've been gone. All of it is caused by splitting the development team in multiple different segments and spreading the resources thin.
True. There's no point in adding women's football while the resources is limited. Indonesian 2nd division at least complement their 1st division which are being used by Indonesians or other players from that region like Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, etc. They at least add immersion to the core game, while women's football will be like a totally separated game.
It sounds like it could be another Championship Manager 4 situation. It’s a shame as I was thinking of coming back into the world of FM after missing the last three instalments. Not sure I can be bothered waiting until 2025 for them to fix the bugs, if that is going to be the case.
They should have released a 2025 database update for FM 24 and released on the Unity engine next year. Would have kept the fans happy and given them extra time to finish working out the issues with Unity.
Indonesian second division vs Women's football is not a just comparison of resources allocated vs the benefits. You probably had to analyze a whole lot of aspects of women's game to create a realistic simulation of it, so it's a lot more resources than just sending scouts and creating database. And you can compare women's football with the Latvian league or the second division of Indonesian football, but on the whole that you can play in Belarus or Portuguese lower leagues is a huge part of the appeal of the game. Anyway, women's game, once added, probably will be a lot easier to maintain than "invent", so maybe it'll make a profit, but perhaps they could've done it a year after jumping to unity engine. Doing both at the same time seems crazy.
13:25 I disagree to be honest. It sounds good, but I think that it will just lead to them shipping an unfinished product and patching it up as they go, with each full game being less and less finished initially. It would be great if it meant getting 100% of the game on launch and then some glitter on top of it during the year, but I just do not believe that it will be like that.
There was almost zero demand for rapid transfer to new engine. And the main problem is we are losing features that we were using (and with high probability of many more "to be added in future updates) but huzzah - woman's football. At this point they should announce that there will be no FM this year.
The old match engine is antiquated and fundamentally flawed, but everything else is on point. I was shocked at all the confirmed missing features and will skip FM25 because of that. Besides, I'm willing to bet money that they showed no gameplay because it looks underwhelming. Depth >>> Slightly better match engine and graphics.
I was a little bit nervous when thinking about it like wondering if it would be like The Sims in the sense the last game has all this content but the new one is bare bones. I do feel like they should have tried to bring the release date sooner as when the season first starts that's personally when I want to play the most. I'm still looking forward to seeing FM25, I didn't play much of 24 since in the beta I think the first 3 games I hit the bar like 12 times and lost two games. I have figured out Databases so if FM25 isn't something I love then I will probably just stick to FM24 as hopefully they fixed the issues I had early on and I can try change my childhood and manage Arsenal from 2007/08 the season I started to support them
It’s definitely concerning that we know so little this close to launch, but ultimately even if the new graphics engine is bad or worse than what people had hoped for it’s still going to be football manager at its core. For me I know that I’ll enjoy FM regardless of the changes, but I was hoping that the graphics being more modern might entice a larger crowd into the game which in turn would help the game to continue to grow and become better.
To be honest moving to a new game engine is a monumental undertaking for any studio. Basically having to redo the entire game code from scratch line by line. I think people are forgetting that and assuming it’s just last year’s release with a few new features.
I'm trying to stay optimistic but the lack of info along with the dropped features shows that SI has a lack of confidence in the game. It seems like they've encountered a lot of problems they don't have the resources to solve in time for launch. If you're not a content creator & guaranteed to make money from this game, then pre-ordering is mad. I have the feeling this might not even be worth purchasing till a few months down the road.
This needs to be said: I love your takes about the women's leagues and all that. Just adds another dimension to the game. I see us using it in the long run in saves that are more journeymen and that could be a really good time. I'm optimistic about this game in general coming from FM24 so i really hope for the best.
From what i have seen so far FM25 looks like it's built for iPad. This will be the first time i don't pre-order the game. SI have announced nothing new for FM25 but they have announced things they have removed from the game.
Huge W for you here Z. The self respect to not give out the pre order code after criticizing the game's management heavily (and rightfully so), unlike others, should be applauded.
hey rejoice, at least they added womens football and invested a lot of resources into that. so no big deal that the rest of the game becomes a casual shitshow with features removed and nothing to show for 2 month before the launch.
omg shut up, Zealand has even specifically mentioned before (so sexists like you wouldnt comment this), that womens football was worked on by an entirely new team at SI hired for that specific purpose. It didnt take resources away from any other area. Showing your bias loud and clear
@@TwoPoachedEggs How could he be sexist? In fact no one asked for women's football. He just cares about what he wants, and those features were removed probably due to the addition of women's football. SI had the money to hire a specific team, why not use that money to invest in other more important aspects of the game? I don't think adding women's football into fm25 is a good idea, especially there is a big engine update.
@TKS2128 "How could he be sexist?" really? By doing what you just did, making the false assumption that SI removed other features to add womens football. They didnt. Blaming the addition of womens football for anything else has no actual logic behind it, it's just hate towards womens football. If you can't understand why making up false information to further your own (frankly shit) opinion is bad, I'm not wasting more of my time explaining it
@@TwoPoachedEggs I don't think this is false information mate, as it is actually one of many possible reasons why they removed so many features. It makes sense to blame the addition of women's football. If there are any issues that aren't entirely certain, does that mean opinions can't be expressed? Everyone has their own perspective, just like someone might say the new graphical update added too much work and caused them to drop some game features. Would such an opinion be considered "false information"? I really don't think the comment is sexist. Let me repeat my point: FM25 had too many new additions, which might result in uneven resource allocation, causing them to give up certain original features. You said that the development of women's football was done by another team and wouldn't affect other parts of the game-that's exactly what I disagree. Didn't hiring this additional team cost money? Isn't money a resource? I am not against the addition of women's football, but it should have been added in later editions rather than FM25.
Relative to release date the trailer and announcements are pretty much in line with the timelines of previous years. Why is everyone ignoring this? I get it: we'd like more information, yes it does feel they are still behind in development and their marketing strategy is terrible. But objectively for now everything is just shifted by 3 weeks.
Obviously not the point of the video but i dont really mind them removing shouts. Its the 'meta' thing to do, but not particularly fun to shout demand more every 15 mins
Will the shouts be returning? The thing people love about FM’s is the realism but taking out things like shouts seems like a backward step…. I get the international management for a year but this year it’s s meant to be a new era but feels like it will be going backwards
i've been out of the FM loop for a few years and was planning to jump back in with 25. Nothing i've heard recently is very encouraging though to be honest, I think i may just wait another year.
I had a strange idea. I'll preface by saying it would be highly improbable. Imagine if FM made a mode called flashback or something. You could take charge at pivotal points of clubs/National Teams history (I.E When SAF stepped down from United or when Pep left Barca or when Scaloni got appointed). You would have the same squads that existed then in an FM sense (Sort of like NBA2K's way of being able to go between eras in manager mode). Would give Zealand a lot of material and if successful. Could branch into being able to do eras like 2K does it. Also would have the same rules as the time obv. I know it would be so hard to do and it would be time consuming to find all the players from Indonesia's 2nd tier in 2013 and quantify their worth now but just a cool idea
Didn't they use to have some challenges in the game, like 6-10 years ago? I may be confusing it with a different game, but I remember something like take over a club in the relegation zone, with 10 matches left in the season, and save them and stuff like that.

Potential red flag for me is that the interface doesn’t seem to be customisable. In the past we could move all the panels around and add new ones, so the default layout really didn’t matter to me
This feels like a year to chill and enjoy fm24 for another year then grab 26 when they’ve had time to actually make a complete game.

To be fair I think lollujo admitted he would buy the game if it looked like 08 so he's easy to please but not really best person to review change 😂

I’m far less concerned about the lack of game being shown before release than the console/mobile ification of FM. The game is being made worse to simplify it for casual players. I play all 3 ways of playing the game but I do not want my core playing experience (PC) to be less than it should be. It’s a slap in the face to hardcore fans that have bought the game for 10+ years
100% agree. They are stabbing the hardcore fans in the back to chase the console cash.
You need cash to invest to make a better game! Or they will left behind, they need more money for more developers etc. @doyle8711
This is an excellent shout
that would be logical though...
totally agree!!

I'm not nervous. I can still play FM24 if the game sucks. I played CM 01/02 for years while we waited for FM to get good, and I can do the same here. The people melting down over FM25 need help.
Definitely not pre-ordering FM25, there's no reason to, and they haven't given us one.
Zoomer want everything now, no patience.
@@IlTerry89They've built a reasonable amount of good faith over the years, they could probably get away with a botched year. What might hurt them is that egotistical man-child they have handling most of their public engagement.
@@kakskdjfnakodndn yes, my concerns are on long term, if they lost a large amount of player base, it can worsen the situation.
Or they just switch player base, from a core/hardcore one to a more casual gamer player base, heavily focusing on mobile and console version
I do a 2 year period... Now I'm gonna wait another 2 years till they right the ship!

You can see it in the UI. They gunning for mobile. Same happened with PES (now eFootball). Ripped the soul out of the game - essentially - 'to modernise'.
They've been building the game back up for 3 years and we still have no Master League.
Would be sad to see FM go the same way.
Yo Z did you see that FM25 comes out next year in March

Zealand, I think Kirby"s height is what it is, is because these are not actually screenshots, but mockups made in a separate program for a presentation, which is why the highlights and some of the information doesn't make sense. So really, we don't even have anything from the game, as of yet.

@DubberRucks it looks ridiculous. Who signed off on that? I did see someone mock it up and if you slightly rotate it a bit it's a lot easier to read but still the classic FM logo was simple and perfect in my opinion. Changing for changing sake is stupid.
Usually when no screens are shared it's a bad sign. I'm waiting until reviewers play it and give us actual feedback
The release has been delayed untill March
14:47 Yes, but can you see the difference in the amount of resources necessary between adding the 2nd Indonesian division, and adding women's football to the game? The first one is probably done in a couple of days, and the latter took MULTIPLE years because they had to rebuild everything to make it work. If they gave more resources to their existing FM development team instead of creating a new one for women's football, the game probably wouldn't be delayed and most of the issues would've been gone. All of it is caused by splitting the development team in multiple different segments and spreading the resources thin.
@@Pvrge. They could've added more leagues whilst working on the rest of the game
True. There's no point in adding women's football while the resources is limited. Indonesian 2nd division at least complement their 1st division which are being used by Indonesians or other players from that region like Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, etc. They at least add immersion to the core game, while women's football will be like a totally separated game.
This game has slowly become my life, and honestly I can say I don't really care if FM 25 is good. I am perfectly content playing FM 24
Delayed until March 2025.!
I'd be so happy for them to release even next year, to make sure the game is good
miles jacobson should go. the demands for FM 2.0 is beyond his skill, even in marketing. it is time to reshufle everything.
Depth >>> Slightly better match engine and graphics.

i just noticed it and went newest first, love the kit ngl, definitely not biased in any way 😉
I was a little bit nervous when thinking about it like wondering if it would be like The Sims in the sense the last game has all this content but the new one is bare bones.
Its an older revelation than the book of revalations in the old testament

This needs to be said: I love your takes about the women's leagues and all that. Just adds another dimension to the game. Sweet Jesus Zealand you should start reviewing Star Wars content as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if they monetize FM 25, They already tried selling bandages and things to heal players on the console version

Some people release historical databases but for that to be put in the base game would be an insane amount of work.
This is possible (in a way) via custom databases. It's not something SI are ever going to introduce as an actual feature of the game.
Didn't they use to have some challenges in the game, like 6-10 years ago? I may be confusing it with a different game, but I remember something like take over a club in the relegation zone, with 10 matches left in the season, and save them and stuff like that.
Will take them 20 years to do that it seems, hire a whole team to do women’s footy and can’t get kirbys height correct
You can downnload historical databases.
We literally need to see gameplay how this new engine goes
