      He presses the "stop current action" keybind after the instant the bolt of the crossbow leaves the weapon.
      effectively mash that keybind and right click, but there is a certain timed rhythm to it.

    I loved this game, I made mods for this game, I spent years coming back to this game. The feelings of progression, weapons, items, lore etc., it felt so good and creativity expanding for the mind. So bad that steam doesnt sell the expansion with it. I wish there was a remake with multiplayer and tons of extra content.

      Yeah, Melee is definitely tough, especially if you're trying to do solo.
      That said, if you get past the early game, and get enough resistances - it becomes quite fun. You can try going for two dual wield + lifesteal weapons, getting 48% lifesteal, or 80% with a mod that gives better enchantments. Lifesteal Melee is pretty fun.
      Take care, and thanks for watching!

    Hey! I've been looking into speedrunning this game. How do you successfully shot your double power? I've tried to mash "Power" then right click, but I'm not really getting it. I've also tried cancelling the animation of the power, but just ends up using it without the option to double use it. Great speedrun and definitely the time in my mind to beat!

    • @acacius6655
      @acacius6655  2 года назад +8

      Hey
      Thanks for the comment.
      Here's the order for making the Double Power work.
      1. Press 1 -> Right Click -> Press 1 -> Right Click
      1 = My Power Shortcut.
      The important part is - there is a small window after the first right click (when the animation buffers) that you can press 1 again to get the double power in. After that, you want to aim the Multi-shot ON THE GROUND. If you right click an enemy, nothing will happen. For best success, aim the 2nd one near your character. After that, you can experiment more.
      Notice - sometimes even I mess it up. I also remember this run having some weird lags when it came to my keybinds, so I didn't do the multishot correctly that often...but I figured the time was good enough and there were no real runs of Act 1 - Act 3 on RUclips, especially Solo Runs, so I just posted it for the niche that are curious how it looks.
      As for beating my Speedrun, I believe you can do it. Couple of things that I'd recommend looking in:
      1. Time Wasted on Looting. Can save some minutes here. The point of looting is to get to a goal. The goal being some item thresholds from some of the shops. Other than that, you're just wasting time looting.
      2. Better Keybinds. Problem with my Keybinds is that the same finger that activates powers is also the one that's shooting. Never tried it, but I think it's possible to synchornize the powers with continuing to shoot as well.
      3. Better XP Management. DS2's experience system is...uhh...interesting. TL:DR - You get the most "XP" from same level mobs. If you are level 10, you want to be killing level 10 mobs to level efficiently. If you are level 10 and killing level 15 mobs, you will get almost no xp, which is pretty quizzical. Who thought that was a good idea at GPG, I'll never know.
      4. A lot of other things that only with experience and repetition you can. I did the first part, at the very least, like 5 times, and each time I learnt something new I could optimize.
      For example - in my first runs, I did not take my time to get the guaranteed Nature's Vigiliance set cause you have to go off-course, but what I found out was that the amount of armor you get saves you time in the long run by simply avoiding dangerous scenarios (Vulks, The life-stealing Trasaks in the Caves (Deadliest) and stuff like the Skitters (crab-like poison spitting, jumping things) in the desert.
      In one of my previous comments, I mentioned. I was in the midst of making said video, but then other things became a priority and I never got to it, and I most likely won't. That said, I'm willing to share you the notes and Images I have stored from that time that explain stuff in easy to understood detail. Will make your runs better for sure.
      If these notes are of interest, add me on Discord Acacius#0601

    Man, this game is amazing. Play a lot but didnt know about the atk stop strategy. One question in the time 11:18 you paused the game near death...is this some strategy to stop the enemy atk or something like this? Because i think that the mage would hit you, but them he just stops and run away from you after the unpause. @Acacius

    • @acacius6655
      @acacius6655  27 дней назад +1

      Hey
      The reason why I pause there, or any other time where I happen to pause in the future, is just because I instinctively/through experience feel it to be a dangerous position, such as when I'm swarmed by enemies or I'm close to death (this one). The times when I don''t do it for that reason is perhaps when I try to align a multi-shot, but that's more rare, since it costs time.
      To answer your question in depth, just know that pausing doesn't change the A.I behavior (The Haku lighting mage would still have acted the same way if I didn't pause), it just give you a little bit more time to recoup, see things for what they are. In this specific case, or in any other of the pauses, it's no a 'conscious' decision. It's more-so an instinctual feeling to pause there, take a quick look at the situation in a paused state, likely drink a potion, and then depending on the situation, you can either retreat or reposition yourself in another way, or as in this case, the potion was enough for me to stay and just spam down the lighting mage, so after the pause, I knew I wasn't in danger, and that I should just stay and kill it.
      If I'm not near death and I pause, most often it's due to timing my dodging in a certain direction from ranged/projectile type attacks, such as the deadly little poisonous bugs in Part 2 of Act 1.
      None of it is conscious. It's just a split second feeling decision. The Takeaway here is not to analyze any of this. It just comes naturally/instinctively the more you play. That is all.

    I only just started watching but I'm enjoying so far. How is your shooting speed so fast?

    • @acacius6655
      @acacius6655  3 года назад +16

      Hey man, thanks for leaving a comment ;)
      You can shoot incredibly fast in this game by going to ''Hot Keys'' in your settings, and binding the "Stop animation" to a key that's easily reachable. For me it's Q.
      Then, once I shoot with a weapon (or a spell), after the animation is done, I press Q and the animation resets (so no reloading speed pretty much).
      The timing is different for every weapon as well as spells. Luckily for us, the crossbows are one of the best weapons in the game damage wise, and their ''timing' or "reload" speed works great with the ''Stop animation'' usage since there's no projectile "wind-up" time, so not only do you deal damage faster than other classes and weapons, but you also deal MORE damage. It's a win-win. The ranger talents kick ass as well and you become extremely powerful later on.
      I planned to do a Solo Ranger guide, explaining everything you need to know about playing this way. Would you be interested in seeing that?

    • @acacius6655
      @acacius6655  2 года назад +11

      This is everything you need to know :
      1. Go into Keybindings, and change the "Stop Current Action" to a key that's easily spammable. Personally, I use Q. If it doesn't work immediately, you might have to restart or bind the secondary as well (so Q and E for me).
      2. Different Weapons / Spells / Pets have different Animations & Windups. Luckily for us, The Crossbow is not only the best weapon damage wise for ranged characters, but also with the fastest missile projectile, so you can cancel the attack animation right after you hit someone. Other interesting options for fast animation cancels can be :
      * Combat Mages - Death Magic "Death Beam", Lighting spells have fast animations, lesser embers for fire and some other fire options as well. The Cons of all Mage spells is that unlike the ranged weapons - Resistances later WILL cuck you. That's why Ranged is king, because Armor / Ranged Resistances are almost non-existent or don't matter.
      * Lap Dragon (Pet) - I think this guy had all-around the best attack animation because not only is it instant, but it's also AoE, but you can only get the pet in Arc 3 and feed it all your life savings. Damage Wise still probably lower than the corssbow - there's just no real competition for that thing, but if you want to roleplay as a Lap Dragon
      * Personal Cheesy Favorite - 4 Nature Mages + Frost ground / Tremor Spell. Even better if you add the "Freezing" talent - every nature mage suddenly has 30% Chance of Freezing for 2 seconds, so if you do the math, you're pretty much always getting someone frozen. Only problem is you deal no damage at the start, but hey - with enough mana steal, you can just go infinite like this and freeze for days.
      3. The reason why a Solo Run is optimal for this strategy is because there are no other party members with different animations that will be canceled. In short - they don't slow you down. Animation Canceling for the whole party doesn't really work except if your whole party consists of the same kind, aka 4 Rangers with Crossbows, but you lose some maneuverability, you need to equip all with lifesteal etc, otherwise they're just going to get mauled 24/7. When Solo - you are in full control!
      Think about this concept this way - If you've ever played League of Legends or Legends as Vayne, Riven, or maybe Darius - the "auto attack" animation canceling is pretty much the same, except here it is exploitable to the core due to the fact that you can cancel the attack with a KEYBIND that has no coldown, not with an ability that has a cooldown like in LoL. You don't even HAVE to bind the "Stop Current Action" if you want to feel like a Starcraft APM Machine and just kite for days. In fact, that's my favorite way to play because it's a lot more engaging and I almost considered uploading it that way since it involves more skill.
      That is all.
      Last note - Great Resource for Dungeon Siege 2 knowledge that I've used extensively - www.gamebanshee.com/dungeonsiegeii/skills/nature-24.php . Has pretty much anything you'd ever need.
      Good luck.

      @@acacius6655 Wow, thanks alot for the detailed answer! I figured already that it had something to do with the Stop Current Action function, but it takes quite a bit of practice to get the timing right. Since the movement of the game is so clunky the animation cancelling isn't really that smooth for me yet especially when trying to kite with hit and run. But probably I just have to practice it more to get used to it.
      Solo is definetly the way to go, in terms of speed I think. Just being able to only focus on your one character saves so much time and as you said gives more control.
      Will practice and test out more things with your help! I hope this game can actually get some speedrun attention, even tho it's kinda long and has rng elements in it since it's an rpg. Love the game and thanks again for the great help!

      My memory's a fog, haven't played since the run. That said, I'm 99.9% sure this is what I did.
      Based on your comment, you probably are playing "Windowed Fullscreen" Mode already and want that annoying top bar to go away. If you go Full screen, your mouse disappears.
      If this is your issue, and even if it's not - this is what you'll do, and it's extremely simple:
      1. Download "Borderless Gaming" software.
      2. Open it
      3. Transfer 'Dungeon Siege 2' from left side to right side. Done.
      If for some unknown reason that doesn't work somehow, I'd propose 2 additional possibilities:
      1. Download Ely Succubus Addon and launch the game from there (I think there was a fullscreen option from that one)
      2. Check out answers on Steam.
      That's it. I'm confident that the first option will allow you to play the game in Full screen. If you're able to make it work, let me know.

    • @acacius6655
      @acacius6655  2 месяца назад +1

      Hey
      To multicast the powers (Thunderous-Shot , mainly), it's relatively simple, just requires a bit of speed.
      Let's use Thunderous-Shot as an example:
      1. Press 1 (Your Thunderous-Shot Power Keybind). You'll see that you can now aim it.
      2. Press Right Click to use it ->>>>> INSTANTLY press 1 again as fast as you can. You should have your power icon 'empty/black' now, but have the ability to 'release' the power again by Right clicking again afterwards (Try pressing it on the ground. The biggest culprits for it not going off again is either clicking on the enemies, or clicking too far away from you. If you click on the ground near you, I'll guarantee you'll see success regularly).
      Basically, you get another cast due to the game not being fast enough to register that you already used your power. As far as I recall, it works best with powers that have a slight delay/animation, ones that are targetable in a certain direction (That's why Thunderous-Shot is a perfect candidate. For Melee, Waves of Force would be similar. For Nature Magic - Icicle Blast, you get the idea).
      That said, you can see that at times I even do it with 'Take Aim', but that one has a faster animation, so it's a bit harder to always get it right.
      Hope this helps.
