Three letter week day display is much better than two, specially for us non-native and older English speakers. The week day is at least as important than time for me, as I am retired and have no working day rythm. It would be easy for Casio to update it to some other watches, too, but it is more important for them to differentiate between the watches than to win new customers. They have a logic here, but to a wise one.

This is very cool. Design reminds me of 80s Timexeseses. But, and it's a big, wobbly but, we don't want silly, complicated stopwatches. I've been wanting to buy a retro Casio for a while now. Thought about A168 and I pretty much decided that I'm gonna order it, but then I came across this freshly released model and I'm not so sure anymore.
I think this watch is great. A step counter is a must for me anymore, but most step counter watches look like they belong in a gym, not an office. Yeah, a stainless case would be nice, and a better band, but this watch is fantastic at under $100.
I just bought this watch on amazon japan at 66 usd with shipping. Just very lucky to had bought it on discount. Awaiting for this watch as it is quirky and has Bluetooth connection without being intrusive like a smartwatch. Disclaimer. I love the vintage look in a larger watch, but for me it's still not a size that attracts me. With my 8.25 inch wrist the A-168 looks outright tiny, kind of ridiculous. I do prefer the size and vintage appearance of my w-217, and W-218, though these are not really large at all, and the budget watch module lacks features. The size of this ABL-100 is between the two, not an improvement. I wish it were a full size watch like the G-shock GWM5610. I would definitely make a purchase.
How wide is the strap? Can you put a rubber one from the w59, f91, etc like in the other vintage style casio? The watch looks great and the module is fantastic. Lap memory!

5:20 - Could you perhaps elaborate on how the power-saving mode works? For instance, is it something that activates on its own if the watch hasn’t been used in a while? Or is it something that you have to manually activate and deactivate each time?
@@handcodingit activates on its own when enabled by turning off the display between 10:30pm and 6am each day. If the watch is left unused for 7 days, it goes into deep power save by turning off all the features. Just press a button or give it a shake to wake it up.
I was thinking the thinner taper of the bracelet would balance the watch better, but I could be very wrong. Why do you think a thicker taper is better?
@@Wayne-q1v6l Partly for aesthetics and partly for practical reasons. If it was a bit wider towards the end, there would be more contact with the skin and provide a better grip.
I LOVE it! :P One thing tho is at an angle it can look slightly dimmer? It's only slightly(the LF-20W-1AEF looks worse tho, unfortunately) but the 80's CASIO Watches never had that problem & look perfect at all angles. Not sure if CASIO are just making worse displays or not. Very odd that. I still think it's amazing tho & hope we have more retro looking Watches this good with more features on them to 👍 + i would LOVE them to do the AA-85(the Blue Thunder Watch) like this :P Maybe you could do patterns on your phone App & send it to the Watch :D etc etc. Cool video 😎

I believe you can’t set DST on the watch it has to be done via the app. The app captures your data, you can opt out of some but to sync with the watch the app requires you to allow it to always use your location. I did this for initial setup and then disable location services for the app, just fyi

Excellent module with a plethora of features, four buttons, great "old-school" bracelet, dial with a vibrant combination of colors.....but once again, a resin case. It´s the biggest disappointment of this new Casio model. I´d have preferred to pay $50 more and have a stainless steel case. The watch would have been in a whole different league if it were all stainless steel.
I found the band a bit narrow for my taste. I replaced it with a Vario leather strap that I bought for my AE1200, fits nicely and gives it a smart casual look.
Needs at least 50m of water resistance. And it needs a complete overhaul of design regarding those letterings on the case... They should erase them. We are not in 1980es anymore. It definitely doesn't need a step tracker. Step trackers shouldn't exist at all, let alone be a part of a digital watch.

@@e1000io7 I doubt that you can use the F91 strap on this watch. This watch uses spring bars and the F91 uses pins.
Does the date need to be set every month? Or does it automatically detect which month is 30 and 31 days?
