- My favorite documentary about Ivry.
"He is a legend, even among other violinists and has been at the top of his profession for over 60 years. Probably the last of a great tradition, he is both our link to the past and our guide for the future. For most musicians, he is THE violinist. Has appeared in films with The Rolling Stones and Isabelle Adjani. He has jammed with John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Oscar Peterson, Dizzy Gillespie, Marcel Marceau and Stephane Grappelli. Today , he enjoys improvising with Youssou N'Dour and with his sons' rock `n' roll band, Enhancer. His recordings of the concertos by Stravinsky , Paganini, Tchaikovsky and Alban Berg (which won the Grand Prix du Disque) are reckoned to be among the definitive accounts of these works. His CD of the Bartok Concerto was voted Best Record of the Year by the New York Herald Tribune. He performs regularly in front of Presidents and Kings."

Rip to this kind soul! To MAESTRO! One legend! I will miss him a lot! Always made me have a smile in my face when i watching him!
RIP Ivry Gitlis!
Ivry Gitlis was the first violinist i listened to. He imprinted his style in my mind. I forgot it, but now, with more practice, experience and taste, I can appreciate what musician he was. This man makes me play free.
Thank you for sharing this amazing violinist, we will miss him so much.
Mr Ivry Gitlis is our Great Musical Monument for all Violinists and Music Amateurs , May Long He Last with us , Great Forever !!! :)
Well said - I too don't know if we cry for the foregone ones or for us who are still on our journey... Great life anyhow, he learned how to touch people!
I love the man! All I want in my 'twilight years' is to grow old gracefully like Ivry...and having fun like him to the end!
Mick Dunn you take the words out of my mouth:-)!
This was wonderfully touching. RIP Ivry Gitlis. I just wish I had known about you years ago..
A gentleman and a scholar. One of the few world class musicians left. May there be a few who follow in such inspiring footsteps.
Love this film!!
Ivry est la vie même ! Un exemple pour tous. Vive Ivry !
How much I love this man, omg! I adore you! God bless you!
A great violinist , and a beautiful free and open spirit ! Maybe that's the very reason he is great :-) Thanks for posting !
what an inspiring man and what a passion !
Thanks you for upload this
Inspiration for my life - Him. Maestro, live long !!!
Such a legend and real artist. This doc could have easily been called "Virtuosity of the Soul" which Ivry lived by with his creativity and broad-mindedness. IMO Heifetz and Ivry are the only players I've heard whose styles can be so distinctly identified. RIP
Eh..what about Kreisler!!
Farewell Maestro, weirdest and greatest of them.
Ivry wow thanks amazing person! thanks for this film! Rip 💫💫💫🌱🌱🌱greetings from Chile.
A beautiful film about a beautiful man. Thank you for making this. Thank you for sharing it. ❤️ The world misses Ivry.
In Gitlis' hands, every piece of music comes ALIVE. A brilliant artist he is.
I love this guy.
wow what a man. that was freaking incredible.
Wow that's so cool, his sons have a band! XD
Ohhhh this man is miracle
Gracias!!!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
“When someone tells me not to worry, that’s when I really start to worry.” 😂
OMG...How many languages did he speak? I think I counted five…
Tibor Varga once said to me: "In jedem Geiger sollte ein bisschen Gitlis sein...!"
PRICELESS REACTION at 22:46 to Yoko Ono.
Was she ever good to listen to or just rode John's coattails
Thank you for sharing ....^^
Love this thank you!
Mais combien je l'aime!
Ivry, by cracky you old rooster, your still kickin.Your just as good as your predecessors but you outlasted them. You just keep breathen old man.
Is his name Ivry Gitlis or Ivry Genius? Either way the guy is totally out of this world. The last great violinist.
the clip of that little boy actually gave me a practice idea...
a pity he doesn't live for 240 years. its sound is unique and his mind and heart flow thru his music. but he lives in me and the next generations
Потрясающий музыкант! Будучи уже в уважаемом возрасте, смог сохранить экспрессию, которая свойственна далеко не всем молодым артистам.Это достойно восхищения! Очень люблю его Кампанеллу. Лучшего исполнения я не слышала.Bravo!!!
Thanks.
Fascinating person and film. How much did this guy get paid for doing this bio? My God, he must have spent months with him! Trips to Bolivia, Israel, Senegal, Paris , and who knows where else!
ivry is a smooth talker XD
Oh no, is the video down?
I am a bit scared about his violin when I see him bringing it around the streets like that and in the fish market and the sea lol
Joshua ...Don’t be scared… Most violinists have a “picnic” violin which they used to play outdoors or in a situation like the market...Seriously doubt he had the Strad that day
What song is that at 1:21:50?
what year is this?
14:15 DANCING TO TCHAIKOVSKY LOLOLOLOL

In many ways Gitlis is as good or better than Heifetz: technique and personality.
Raoul Tak You can not compare one great artist with another , thats not what art is about
Peter Lunow After all.....I guess you are right. Thank you.
IS THERE ANYBODY AS GOOD AS IVRY GITLIS TODAY? NO, NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO BEING AS GOOD. HE'S THE ONLY ONE COMPARABLE TO HEIFETZ & OISTRAKH. I WONDER HOW MANY LANGUAGES HE IS ABLE TO SPEAK. MY GUESS IS AROUND 7. HE WAS MOST UNCONVENTIONAL!!!
