As a young violin student over a decade ago a watched these videos you uploaded and through a lot of RUclips without ever meeting him I absolutely fall in love with him, as a bit of a black sheep in the classical world myself, somehow ivry made me see there's not only one way of doing things, way too many colors and flavours in this world.
It was always my dream to meet him someday, I've learned a lot from him.
I could say it's my biggest influence, and a pillar in my musical beliefs.
Thank you so much for these videos.
What a great human was he. I was so sad when i heared about his death. Always loved him about his playing and much more for his personality. So humble but so GREAT ! One of the best violinist and unique personality! A legend! Thank you for everything Ivry! Thank you!

Wow
Really hard to believe that this man lived another 12 years after this.... He is the LAST person whose advice I would ever heed about the art of violin playing. People tell me that I sound really good, so...maybe what I'm doing works. I have never heard a recording of his that appealed to me. And his performances give me an equal amount of chills. And not in a good way. His playing always sounds like he's running late for a train or plane...or automobile (Uber?) One of my old teachers had a better way of saying it - "Rushing to get to the red light."
What utter rubbish you have written,
He was fearless, even Heifetz himself admired him.
@@cisco1007 oh yeah right lol (about Heifetz) 😂. His playing did not reflect fearlessness, it reflected panic and frenzy lol. Heifetz was the fearless one!
Fully agreed, his playing is not what I'm looking for.
@@BenjiOrthopedic there's a documentary where Heifetz mentioned him and says it himself. He was an amazing violinist.
Yikes
