Yes, several of these can be great values and fuel sippers. Don’t forget to do the homework and review the maintenance records and you’ll want a great independent car care provider to service it for you. Now, that’s a recipe for success.
In 07, I bought a 1985 Chevy Cavalier 5spd for $500 that was running, Then in 2008, I bought a 1994 Honda Passport (rebranded Isuzu Rodeo) for $700 that wasn't running. It needed an engine ground strap. In 2012, I bought a 1994 Honda Civic LX 5spd for $1000 that was running. Believe me, there are plenty of us in the states who are dirt poor. People in America just pretend to be rich. Take those credit cards and lines of credit away and most of us would be driving bicycles, or mopeds, lol.
It's a bare bones vehicle. It's cheap and it gets the job done. It's a little like a modern Yugo. 75hp though, lol. Reminds me of the Geo Metro. It still beats the zapatomobile. I was actually really glad to see it make this list.
The Eco-Sport is a flaming pile of crap! I had one as a rental. It felt like high winds would blow it onto its side. While driving it, I worried that the wheels would fall off. Avoid it at all costs!
I drive an Impreza! Its the best purchase I have made in my life. I have one with CVT and its almost 2 years old, but tbh.....I haven't had any problems with it. Then again, I don't push it at all. Just drive it normally like it should be driven and you'll be all set.
I agreed with you on all these cars except packages, the Hyundai‘s, and the brethren those blow up and yes, they have great warranty, but they’ve been known not to honor their warranty
I just sold my 2022 Impreza sport hatch. Worst car I’ve ever owned. Stiff ride, slow, does not get good gas milage unless you’re on flat ground with no wind. Also seats were paper thin and felt like they had no padding.
You and me both. I always ROFL when people get lost, or drive into wet concrete while following their GPS. It's the worst for truckers. These fools wind up in a neighborhood and end up jacknifing in the middle of the road, or use someone's yard as a parking lot. I just use my eyes and ears. If I'm traveling somewhere I've never been, I use a map and plan my route. All my cars predate infotainment. They all have nice screenless dashes.
Toyota is cheap and durable but the jetta would be a better driving experience and higher in maintenance cost . it will take time to choose which . eventually i would go for the jetta
The versa and jetta get my money. I have a 2013 versa thats never seen a maintenance visit. I do my own oil and brakes. The jetta is fun cost quite a bit to fix.
Have you ever driven an Ecosport? While the recent models with the 2.0 aren't bad powerwise, the MPG is hideous. I currently own a 2013 Focus with the 2.0 and 160hp, and I get 38mpg easily on a 65mph drive, and 35 at 75mph. The Ecosport I have driven, I'm lucky to get 27 on the highway. They don't handle well, they don't ride well, they have NO ROOM for any cargo unless you put the seats down, and then you can't put anyone in the back. Do yourself a favor and get ANY of the other cars on this list.
Let’s not forget that brand new cars depreciates like crazy the instant they leave dealership. Considering that I know corolla is the most boring option but most reasonable too and it’s damn reliable
Thanks, man. Rio is my choice, too. I never I owned a car before we had cars for family . Now everyone is pushing me to buy a car (my girl), and I don't want to pay a lot for something I don't use a lot. Still, Uber is the best option . Is cash the best option or monthly? I'm a new Immigrant can you give me guidance . 🙏
When it comes to dependability. You can't beat a Toyota. And some of them can make big power. If you properly take care of them. They will last for decades. And the CVT transmission should be avoided at all costs. Doesn't matter who made it. Stick with running gears. Until they perfect the CVT. Which nobody has done yet.
Im looking to get a first car, I'm looking to something that is unique in a stick shift. I was looking for maybe a RHD car that's fun to drive, has availability for upgrades, and has at least 4 seats. If anyone has any recommendations, let me know.
I'll always be hurt by the subaru did the impreza it wasn't what we wanted to see after growing up. I know the wrx is it's own thing now but the grocery getter did some damage
Ok, now I'm concerned and disappointed on your tactics for videos... The engine video you just did talking about the Ecotec claiming it's such a horrible engine, and only stating a few vehicles it came in, however there are multiple variations of the Ecotec, several more vehicles it's available in and multiple of those non mentioned vehicles and motor variations that are extremely reliable... I have personally purchased and owned and still own multiple Ecotec 2.0,2.2 and 2.4 that i literally beat the crap out of and never had an issue. My 2.0 has been extremely modified and has 150,000 miles on it gets the living crap beat out of it every single time I drive it, with never an issue 1. And now the first vehicle you mentioned in this video is the Ford ecosport which has extreme transmission and other issues, and you are recommending the vehicle to be purchased?! That's not cool and extremely contradictory.. why mention something so bad that is notorious for problems.
To be fair. It doesn't seem like too many people have the same luck you do with keeping them running. Maybe you just treat those old L-series based engines right. Or you effectively have avoided any lemons from the factory. But yep there could be some contradiction about recommendations in this video. Though he didn't say anything about its reliability here, just that it's fun to drive. Which could be somewhat accurate lol.
The intent here was to present cheap commuter options that are brand new. Not everyone wants to wrench on a dependable beater. Some just want to buy something cheap that will get them through the next 3-5yrs. The intended audience is college kids, highschoolers, low income families, and someone looking for a really cheap daily, such as a disposible fleet vehicle. Maybe 3 of these vehicles are ideal, the rest...I'm not so sure about. The video accomplishes its goal and presents a good variety of options. The Soul is pretty cheap. I knew a guy who picked up 2 at once and was paying $500/mo for both. That kind of price point is really hard to beat for a new car. Especially these days.
Is the FORD Ecosport even available in the United States? From all of the "video snippets" they where all RHD! BRING BACK THE DOMESTIC SMALL (Commuter) cars please FORD, GM and CHRYSLER...😢
You realize this is a global platform right? And that a large portion of the world speaks english? What you should be asking is why there aren't any Citroën, RENAULT, Peugeot, or Opel cars on this list. I suspect it's because the list criteria was in Dollars and that even the cheapest Eurpean vehicles would be too expensive. After converting pounds to dollars, the Renault Clio can be had for $23,868.75. I'm not sure what the budget criteria was. It would be nice to see some cross-culture mentions, for a more well-rounded perspective on the global car market. It would also give the rest of the world a chance to live the ideal lifestyle.
Guess they are running out on new only gas models that are affordable to own and desirable to have to recommend such cars no one watching this wants to have.
Lol I got shadow banned, just because I commented on how these car can't stop on rainy days. No ABS break system ( Anti-Lock Braking Systems). Narrow tread patch 2nd time typing comment. 👦👍🏎🏁🚩
All of these cars are basic crap, priced as much as a full size pickup just two decades ago. And your payments would be more like $400-$500 for 48 months. Buy a used 10 year old car, learn how to do your repairs and don't ruin your future by buying into this scam.
It’s funny how a lot of these weird car guys always talk about how reliable Volkswagens are., but you will never see them riding one over230,000 miles. You will be lucky to see one at around 150. Before the transmission kick the bucket

If you look at the mk6 Jetta you can get a 2.5l 5cyl and a 5 speed manual for about 5-7k and it has 170hp plus gets 30mpg
It gets 30 mpg mixed?
@@Ballsack44 it gets around 29-30 mpg mixed but I often see around 35

I noticed you never talk about the 10th gen accord sport 1.5 or 2.0 turbo. Just curious on your thoughts
Really Brad? The Mirage? Didn't you tell us to avoid it in multiple other videos?

Number 1, 2, Kia Soul and the Ford Ecosport Box, plus the Subaru Impreza and maybe the Kia Rio.

avoid them kias and hyundias
this is my third hyundi i own love them no problems with any of them
I have a 2018 Elantra sport that is so fun to drive, paid 16k in 2021 with 29k miles. Best bang for buck in my eyes.
Corolla is the best car for delivery or courier service ❤
It’s sad to think that only a couple of years ago, these would probably below 20k for new…
so in the last video you said to avoid the impreza but now you recommend it?
Impreza w a manual... :)
The kia soul… the one that has been bursting into flames recently. Or the one that constantly cracks the block
I agree!! The Kia Rio is a great buy. Perfect cheap but reliable. Oh and quite roomy and comfortable for a small car.
I just sold my 2022 Impreza sport hatch. Worst car I’ve ever owned. Stiff ride, slow, does not get good gas milage unless you’re on flat ground with no wind. Also seats were paper thin and felt like they had no padding.

You spent the last 10 videos bashing the ecosport (rightfully so) and now you include it in recommendations? Are you running short on contents?
Did not expect to see a itsjusta6 clip first thing in the video
I'm confused, one day it's DON'T BUY FORDS, then the next day it's GRAB THIS FORD even when they have the same engines/drive trains......

Diesel cars when?
If you buy any Hyundai or Kia products nine times out of 10 the insurance is going to be sky high at this point.
I will take brads advice and buy a cheap used spprts car under 10k. Any ideas on how to get it?
Hire a mechanic to see if it’s in good condition
Impreza, Corolla, or the Jetta.

Starting with the eco sport is depressing. If ur gonna buy a discontinued ford, drive a f***king fiesta like a real man
Brad was held at gun point for the eco sport🤣
I like how he says ft/lb of torque instead of lb/ft 😂
No not the eco sport I refuse
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't Ford ecosports a huge piece of c***. It's one of Ford's many cars that have quite a few recalls
