I can't even imagine Tyrion being played by any other actor than Peter Dinklage! He was absolutely incredible in that role!!!
Maybe Steve Buscemi
Brother... 😂 @@Sanoi737
@@Sanoi737Steve Buscemi when he was 10 years old acting as a dwarf
@@Sanoi737oh hell no! Steve isn’t as handsome as Peter! ❤
I did read somewhere that one of GRR Martin’s stipulations about cast was no American actors “Unless you can get Peter Dinklage as Tyrion.
Obviously they changed his mind about the casting for Khal Drogo.
A better prank would have been handing him pointy shoes and a beard wig 😂
That’s where I thought it was going lol
Nah, if he did that, his career would be over.
But that would have required imagination and creativity that we discovered he didn’t have. The signs were there
his reaction would be lmao
@@notamouse9211 wild 😭
Peter Dinklage held the record as 1 of only 3 actors (together with Sean Bean and Charles Dance) personally selected by George and D&D without auditioning process like the rest of the main stars; and also he was 1 of only 3 American actors (together with Jason Momoa and Pedro Pascal) in a series consisted of mostly English-Scottish-Irish-Welsh performers。
Those 3 are just perfection
Pedro Pascal is Chilean huh? Or just his parents and he was born here in America? I dunno
George also hand picked The HOunds character Rory
@@brandtsavoy4380 José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal was born on April 2, 1975, in Santiago, Chile[4] to child psychologist Verónica Pascal Ureta and fertility doctor José Balmaceda Riera.[5][6] His paternal grandmother was born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.[7 Nine months after his birth, his family sought refuge in the Venezuelan embassy in Santiago, and later received political asylum in Denmark.[13][14] Ultimately, the family moved to the United States, where Pascal was raised in San Antonio, Texas,[15] until they relocated to Orange County, California, when he was 11 years old.[14] By the time he was eight years old, his family regularly visited Chile to see his 34 cousins.[16]
@@bonbonvegabon excellent “copy and paste” from Wikipedia skills 😂.
“…they told me about his complexity, the fact that he wasn’t a hero, or a villain”
Damn, they shoulda got these guys to run the last 3 seasons instead of the losers that they did get.
They were the same 2 writers for all 8 sessons
@@delta_dion994 dats da joke
@@delta_dion994 impossible, can’t be. (I know)
If you’re mad at anyone be mad at GRRM for giving up on the books. One can only imagine how good it would have been if they had source material for the entire series…
@@HartPvThey were offered more seaons, they wanted to play with lightsabers instead.
Jokes on them.
When the quality dropped off, around S5,
it had only been 4yr since ADWD came out.
Dont get me wrong, Im pissed at George for taking so long, BUT, you cant blame him for the show fucking up the sand snakes, or for dropping all the forshaddowing and making Arya Azor Ahai, or for making constant references to when the show was good, Or making bran know everything, but also stupid, or for making Dany Insane without easing us into it, Dany going mad was always going to happen but, They did it too quickly.
Look At HOT D, Its not perfect, And it drops alot of the realism from GOT, (Whys everyone just like, Killing each other at tournaments? Random violence is not the point....) But, Its infinitly better than GOT s8, and thats with hardly anything from the books to go off of, like 2 chapters or something I aint read fire and blood yet
The scene in the purple wedding, when his evil nephew brings out the dwarf actors to mock him, you could feel the rage from his soul. Holding back something off script from erupting inside of him. A moment that went deeper than any other for his legendary performance in that series. What a moment for his inner world to share with us. What an artist. 🤯👏
That's a really sh*tty prank to leave someone with for 6 hours.
Yeah like thats your boss telling you, never mind we aren't hiring. Sike gotcha six hours later.
Just godawful leadership. He might’ve accepted another project. Or responded to it poorly.
Big gamble for an unfunny “prank.”
David kind of…..forgot about the prank
If you read more about them they used to do these kind of shitty off putting pranks often on the actors
His performance was by far exceptional. He brought the character to life in a way that I don’t think anyone else could have.
Because he was nothing like the book character.
Beetlejuice would of play a better midget
That prank could have backfired horribly when he notifies one of his backburner projects that he’s now available and immediately starts signing contracts
D&D are not the smartest people as we know...
They are called Dumb and Dumber for a reason. They arent intelligent people
I wanna hear about his pranks on set. Is there a blooper real of Lion and the Rose where Joffrey drinks the poison and he just shouts "you just drank cement"
Gina reference???
@@GiGoNeGro Gina reference.
I understood that reference.
I'm glad he did the role. He was my favorite character, and his performance was magnificent.
In my opinion, Tyrion would have made a great King, but that's just not how it was written.
Honestly and I’m glad Peter Dinklage being casted although he wasn’t the same Tyrion in the books his character still was an emotional roller coaster
He made you laugh, he leaves you shocked in some cases and even made you cry in some cases
He's a straight up monster in the books though.
Not a very clever prank... Would've been funnier if they showed him a bunch of long false beards and asked which one he wanted to go with 😂
Never expect anything clever from those two and you’ll never be disappointed
This is actually an interesting point, because in most other fantasy stories, dwarves are an entirely separate race hence the stereotypical appearance whereas dwarves in ASOIAF are just like real life
What does ASOIAF mean? Pardon my ignorance. 😊
@@MelanieWeed77 a song of ice and fire

His performance of this character was perfection for this entire series. I'm sure glad he didn't turn it down. That was a close one.
Absolutely one of the finest actors in the business today or any day. He is what drew me to GOT and kept me interested. Thank you Sir

You'd probably say the same if someone else was cast. That's how it works
They butchered the character. He was nothing like the tyrion from the books.
that prank was a little... short sighted, eh?
Is also the reason why the new Disney Snow White film doesn't have dwarves in it
Really? Or is it just Disney being radical leftists and that no one thinks about the dwarves
The new Disney Snow White is already absolutely terrible anyway thanks to an arrogant & irresponsible lead actress, and it should 100% go down in flames.
How can you do snow white without dwarves lol....

And we got one of the most iconic performances of all time...

Honestly he was butchered before when d&d diviated from canon.
They turned him stupid in season 5. It started long before season 8
@@livcaitbff Like, when did he make the right choice after joining Daenerys?
“Playing pranks on set” honestly that sounds like something Tyrion would do (at least before he became a sad sack in the later seasons).
Tyrion was a beast. He made a made a lot of the show. Would've been so much less without him
Absolutely❤!!!
Good on him for scoping out the role first in medieval times very often dwarves were made the kings fool or jester and thatd be quite the humiliating role
Shoulda pranked him by giving him a jester outfit the first day
I don't call them little people anymore. No I call them Dinks now!
That's an insult to dwarf people. They despise him for what he did to the other cast members of the new snow white movie. Witch is why there is no dwarfs in the new snow white movie
And he turned out to be the best actor in the series with the best role, fckin goat
I didn't know that .I only know he's the guy that made sure there won't be 7 employed little people in the snow White movie
The biggest prank he pulled was putting other little people out of work after he made his millions
There are so many characters he could play in other movies. He really is a remarkable actor.
Peter Dinklage is one of the best actors of his generation
I would have prank him with a costume with pointy shoes…
I cant even imagine anyone else in this role. He was absolutely phenomenal
Peter Dinklage almost turned down the role of Tyrion Lannister because of the Fantasy genre. However, when he was told that another little person would get the job if he didn’t take it, he changed his mind and snatched it up.
He was one of my favorite actors in the series.
GOT wouldn’t have been the same without Peter D. He was spectacular !! ❤
God, he's beautiful.
This is why it's important for actors to research the characters they're auditioning for.
Which he clearly didn't. The show and book versions of tyrion are two completely different characters.
Mr. Linklater made GOT. Thank goodness he signed on the role. He was absolutely brilliant. I love his perfectionism.
I relate to him the most. In my honest opinion. It's probably the greatest performance ever portrayed. It's hard to say because the show has so many amazing characters, scenes and actors.
Abetter prank would be to present him with a pointy beard and shoes costume on day 1. 😆
I lost all respect for him the way he screwed the rest of the dwarves out of Snow White. What a scumbag! He needs to be taken back four five notches
Kicking the ladder down from the top
IKR - he didn't mind taking "dwarf" rolls but then made it much more difficult for other dwarf actors to have an opportunity after he made it to the big time.
Yeah that was bullshit.
What happened? Did he play _all_ of the dwarves?
Wait... What happened?
I giant of a man surrounded by mediocre minds.
"giant"
He has such great hair & eyes. His eyes are beautiful
It's a good thing he did take the role! How else could he have yanked up the ladder behind him and start costing Dwarf Actors roles without being Tyrion?
Prank? Sounds like just a mean trick to me.
I doubt that.
The show should have been renamed the Peter Dinklage Show, he owned it that much!!! I loved watching GoT specifically for Dinklage's role! ❤
And then he did snow white.
Superb actor,he did really own the scenes he was in
I thought the prank was going to be having the costume designer pretend to assign him pointy shoes for the first scene.
That's crazy this dude carried the show he might not be the only actor who carried the show but he definitely did he was one of my favorite characters for sure
This guy is good in everything he does. One of the best and most diverse actors hands down
He was the glue of the show. Elevated every scene and actor he was with.
I mean, Peter was Iconic in his role. I would rewatch it only for him tbh
Did he fear being typecast as a dwarf?
lol. I think he was more concerned with getting typecast only for high fantasy roles. They had to explain like “he’s a dwarf second son born to a very powerful and prideful man, who views his son’s dwarfism and whoring and drunkenness as a blemish on their house’s precious name, despite growing up to be basically a carbon copy of his extremely capable and powerful father in all other aspects of his personality, particularly his intellect.” I mean if you hear high fantasy when you get a call, and you’re a little person who decided a long time ago you didn’t want to do “those types of roles”, meaning playing as some other race of little people like fantasy dwarves, I’d probably pinch the bridge of my nose a little bit, too, until I heard them out all the way. But I think his attitude about other little people being absolutely willing to take “those roles,” to have their own success on their own terms in whatever genre they want, is really shitty and has a lot of self-loathing in its undertones. I want to like the guy. But he’s just not aware of how much power he has when he speaks about the industry; how many other actors lives he is potentially blowing up, what a huge impact he is having. I think it’s kinda fucked up.
6 hours, that's rough
they were describing book tyrion there, very far from the tyrion in the show
Only the books matter
@@bonbonvegabonseriously.
He was made for that role
i loved him in GoT
and then he started doing interviews and after listening to a few i have
no time for him now or anything his in
*One of my top 5 favorites* ❤
I can’t imagine anyone else but him. He was so good.
He’s an angry elf
Great actor, Dinkleberry. Lol His Elf performance should have gotten him an award. He killed it in X Men Days of Future Past too.
The bushy beard makes him look like Casca Highbottom from The Hunger Games A Ballad of Snakes and Songbirds. 😂
He also is the reason seven little people didn’t get acting jobs for Snow White.
He got famous doing movies with bits about his hight, then pulled the step stool up after he got up top.
I thought it was because tyrion is a dwarf that's why he got mad about snow white
ALSO fantasy genre..
@delta_dion994 ALSO not the point of the comment lol
I’m currently reading through ASOIAF series for the first time. Hes the character whose chapters I get the most excited for. One of the best written characters ever imo
What is up with Dinkelidge's hard-on
for the 7 dwarves? Go by "midget" then Pete because most people think of Snow White or LOTR when they hear dwarf and have zero f's to give what Peter Dink thinks or feels.
They'd feel awful after pulling that prank if he'd committed suicide.
I don’t think he’s a pussy to kill himself over that. It’s not that deep 😂
It’s not that deep 😂
I’m so glad he decided to do this role!! Tyrion is one of the best characters on there I believe THAT FACT is due to the portrayal by Peter !!
I'm so glad Dinklage took the roll. He was absolutely amazing
One of the most memorable characters in GoT. And the way the role made him flip 180 owing to the twists and turns in the story, brilliant performance.
BUT
First - credit where it's due - The story writer, the script improviser, the director and the talent scouting / selection team.
What we see on screen is less than 20%. The balance of 80%++ happens in the background.
And the magnitude of the show.....WOW 🤯
BRAVO TEAM GoT 👍🏻
#Respect
Such a great character and performance like the whole cast
He held the ensemble together more than any other character.
He didn't even inform himself about the role he was getting offered?!
Depends on how it was offered. Could easily have been a meeting where his only information going into it is that he was being offered a role for an HBO series and wasn’t told the show or character until the meeting started
@@justicedunham4088I’m sure that’s what it was, he even said in the video that they assured Peter that traditional fantasy dwarves didn’t exist in that setting, so that means he had no prior knowledge going in
But even if Dinklage did research by reading all the books there'd be no guarantee that show-Tyrion would be the same as book-Tyrion. It's why Charles Dance didn't research Tywin; he had to play what was written in the script, not what is in the books. (Henry Cavil took the opposite view when playing The Witcher.)
He was fantastic in the role. Perhaps the best performance of any and all the cast members.
He was so good that I forgot he was a little person.
thats the role of his life .
Didn’t Peter Dinklage play a classical dwarf at some point? I could have sworn he had?
Thank goodness he stayed as Tyrion I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing that character
I love Tyrion. He’s my favourite character ❤ cried my eyes out over this guy and could easily have put a bolt in his father myself. ❤ and he was a hero of the black water! ❤️
I'm sure there are other dwarf actors that would have been amazing, but he really nailed that role and I'm so glad that he got to play an actual humanized and complicated role for a little person, especially in fantasy where they're usually a whole other magical race
I’m a huge fan of all of his work. Amazing actor! 💜💚💛
He also fucked over the little people community from getting acting roles. He stood on the shoulders of Time Bandits and then burnt down the same bridge for others.
The Imp!
He just made that part... Out write blew it out of the park!
He was by far my favorite character in the series. I love watching his movies.
A good prank would have been making him do the famous somersault that Tyrion does in the books
Oh man. Stoked they got the GAOT on board. The only LAPD I’ve got love fo FRFR🔥🔥🔥
"A womanizer and a drinker?!!!😮 Im in!"
-Peter Dinklage
😂😂😂❤
Theres an event with a bunch of the actors on stage with Rob Mcelheny from Always Sunny hosting where Dinklage is hilarious throughout the whole thing
In fact Peter Dinklage is more handsome without that moustache and beard! :D Tyrion was a knockout! We could see well his face, his gestures, his eyes, his subtle smile ! It helped so much to the character not having face hair. Beard and mustache goes well to big faces, hieratic guys. Lean guys should keep it short, small guys better without.
Peter Dinklage is one of the best actors in that series. Top two in my opinion. Also the guy who played Joffrey did a great job playing a villain
He was the whole reason I started watching....amazing work.
I absolutely admire Peter Dinklage. He is really one standing up for the people with disabilities community. Ok, my disability isn't obvious like his, but it affects me everyday. His is difficult though, because he is often type cast, like many....... little people? (Is that the PC term?) However, look at what he can do? He has produced an amazing character, who has depth and complexity like the rest of the GOT characters. I think most people enjoy his character, all the way down to him being seen as broken or malformed. I think it's great that the little people community has a role model like him who wants their stories to be told, instead of type cast a shallow, uninteresting stereotype.
Edit: after thought.
Recently I watched the new Dr Who series and I just realised that because of Peter Dinklage's efforts, someone like Lenny Rush got to play Morris. They could have made him an average sized person, but it is so much better it was Lenny. Even if he was a side character, that had been his own character and then just be little
Bro heard womanizer and drinking and instantly changed his mind😂
That’s horrible! Six hours they made him think he lost his job?! That’s messed up.
Can you imagine how devastating it would of been, not to have Peter Dinklage. He was the freaking man!!!! He was my favorite character!!
PD is a fabulous actor. He will always be Tyrion to me😊
