Guys, in some states and countries cars must have safety stuff like precollision braking. Without this they can't sell it there. So with a big delay subaru adds it to their manuals, so it gives some future to the manual trans. Thanks subaru, #savemanual)))
im sorry, I'm illiterate , I can't read or write ,I'm dictating this to my dog and he is typing it.... But something I can do :apply The brake by my self and use my own eyes to steer my car. I guess I'll just have to buy cars that don't have these nanny's installed (old cars) . Thanks for your input
Man, the comment section is toxic. Full of kids I guess... This system is engineered well. The one thing I don't like is the self canceling feature by intentionally pushing down on the accelerater. I would think if the car is braking and you are pushing down the gas, your mind would actually think you're pushing the brake pedal, thus causing you to unintentionally cancel the auto braking. But idk, I haven't seen the data they've collected.
I think that if people have trouble telling the gas pedal from the brake pedal, then they probably shouldn't be driving in the first place. I know that can be a problem for some people and I don't feel safe knowing they're on the road with me. But it shouldn't be the responsibility of the vehicle to do that for you. At some point people have to be accountable for their own actions.
Not all kids. Adults who are old enough to appreciate driving a car without interference. Your comment is quite ironic. You obviously are not an experienced driver. I own a 2023 WRX without the intrusive features.
Older people can still act like children. If you don't have respect for your own life and things that's fine, but at least have respect for others. This technology can save you from hurting someone or worse if you happen to fall asleep, have a stroke, heart attack, or seizure while behind the wheel. Life isn't guaranteed.
EyeSight is an awesome addition to the manual WRX and BRZ. You guys just don’t get it, but I was like you. I drove a manual VW GTI and STI and I’m a die hard manual fan. I think electronic rev matching is for children. Electronic parking brakes are also lame. But passive safety systems like EyeSight, are awesome. It’s not for use on the track (turn it off). It doesn’t drive the car for you, so yes, you can hit a tree or ram into pedestrians. When I switch back and forth between my Outback with EyeSight and my other cars without EyeSight, I don’t notice a thing. My driving doesn’t diminish or change. When I first started using it, I was annoyed when the car would nudge me into the lane (like on curves) but I don’t even notice now. Where EyeSight for me really pays off, is when you’re driving home after not sleeping for 3 weeks, and after working an 18 hour day. Or when you’re driving back home from Tahoe or LA (4-6 hours) in the middle of the night. Have you never driven while sleepy? EyeSight might save you in these circumstances, and it’s worth it. I’ve been waiting for the 2024 just for this feature.
I just got my 2024 BRZ manual transmission with EyeSight. Let me reassure you all that it's easy to configure (turning things on and off as you like) and I find it completely unintrusive. Of all the things people have the hardest time getting used to is "lane keep assist" or "lane departure prevention" which will automatically bump you back into the lane if it looks like you're going to veer out of the lane. Well, it looks like that is NOT a feature available in the 2024 BRZ manual Eyesight. It only has "lane departure warning" but not prevention. To be honest, I'm a little disappointed that I don't get that feature. I used to hate it in the Outback, but I became a convert and keep it on all the time. It was especially reassuring if I had to remove my glasses to rub my eyes for 5 seconds. But I guess that won't be happening in the BRZ. Anyhow, I love the BRZ manual. This will be among the last "old school" manual cars. Yes it has a digital dash and Eyesight, but it drives like an old school car. I disabled hill start assist. But glad I wait for the EyeSight (even without the lane departure prevention).
@@JDLPAmy ‘24 WRX has lane keep assist. I hate it. I also can’t stand the automatic braking to slow you down when using cruise control. I enjoyed the basic cruise control in my 2022 WRX much better.

It's cool for those who want it, but I'm glad I got my 22 WRX before it became standard. I don't mind adaptive cruise control, but things like automatic emergency braking worry me. I've rented cars with it before that almost caused accidents just because cars cut me off

I had it in my 21 Outback and the constant beeping was maddening, even on the lowest volume. You had to turn it completely off every time you started the car ,if you didn’t want to be driven crazy. My brother had it in his 22 Forrester and the lowest volume level was more tolerable.
You would need to release the clutch to make this useful. Otherwise you will stall and not know what happened if you get into a scary situation. Like a child pushing his friend deliberately in front of you.
You need a setting to disable all electronics on a sports car. You say it’s not a sports car then show it on a racetrack. Make up your mind. WRC is what got you here.
Many cars on track day have it, you have to remember to disable it. I think if you disable traction control or put car in track mode (which I assume you do) then I think it gets disabled anyway.
They didn't have to kill the STI. They could've kept it going or put it on hiatus w/ the 2.4 pushing at least 350+. However, anyone driving a manual doesn't need driver aides since manuals are more driver engaged.
