I'm very glad to see I'm not the only one who got very excited by the Gretsch! As soon as I saw the video on RUclips I looked up the price and I went from interested to 'need' Naughty Naughty Gretsch is quite right!
Oh my! Gretsch Princess! I have been very, VERY good and not bought a guitar for over a year!!!! Yes, I know, not good is it! But this Gretsch Princess is looking like something that I could drop a few euros on! Damn you Andy, damn you!
My Antonoff came yesterday, its every bit as good as I thought it would be. Every spec works for me wonderfully. In a fit of FOMO, I wound up with a second one on the way. I might just keep both.

A friend of mine bought a vintage '60s Gretsch Princess about 15 years ago. Very basic guitar, but pretty cool, and of course it came with a fantastic single Filter'Tron pickup.
ive wanted the original princess since i was 13. i finally bought a cvt and repainted it and added gold hardware and hi-lotrons to make it look like an original princess
I can’t believe it! I actually have been shopping for a corvette body that I was going to turn into a Princess…and considering getting a Jazzmaster. So I’m totally sold.
If I lived in the same country as you, I'd ship my 1990s $60 First Act, Walmart special strat copy to try out and do a video on.. 😁 But it would cost me more to ship it, than I paid for it to begin with 🤣 I've mentioned it before in other comments on your video, because I absolutely love it. Bought it for my son when he was young, but he had zero interest in learning to play, so I just kept it for myself, and even with my numerous, mid range brand name guitars it has always remained my first go to.. For the price, it's really just a really good, comfortable guitar to play
As I will probably never own an Antonov II (although, the thought _has_ crossed my mind), I might go for the Gretsch Antonoff Princess. Might even fit easier into my garage...
Genuinely, the Chase Bliss Clean makes me want it despite the fact that I dislike compression so much that said dislike is one of the primary reasons I fell in love with Steve Fryette's dirty amps.
The Princess looks amazing and I have to admit I'm also a little embarrassed that I hadn't heard of that model before. When I saw it in the thumbnail, I just thought that it was a update to the Corvette.
It does look like it could be a very interesting Gretsch. Not a fan of the Jag style trem, so Mustang style trem could be great to retain trem without all the tuning issues. No Jag I picked up in a store so far stayed in tune for long, but they sounded like heaven. Wish they did that too.
Hi Andy, have you tried the Tonewood Amp for acoustic guitars by any chance? It’s a neat little effect device that attaches magnetically to any acoustic electric guitar. The Yamaha guitar you’ve shown does the same thing. There is a new version of the TWA about to launch in December. Might be worth a review? A fan from Bonn / Germany

Some hot dynasonics in that Gretsch might be tasty but I guess I'll wait to hear the p90s. Either way, food price point. Id the company I worked for was still in business , I might be able to have obtained a substantial discount.
I was sorely tempted by that Yammie acoustic with the transducers attached to the inside. Even the price wasn’t a problem, I’ve always been impressed by Yamaha instruments, guitars included. But Bluetooth? Surely someone paying a grand and a half won’t need hokey practice backing tracks? And sure, I hear you say, just ignore that bit. But over the last 20 years I’ve been bitten by products that have a ‘permanent ownership’ price tag but because they have internet connectivity they also have massive planned obsolescence. How long will Bluetooth be a thing? Does it require regular firmware updates to continue to be usable? How long will the lithium replacement batteries be available? Now, Yamaha has been a lot better than some when it comes to maintaining support (unlike Line 6 and Roli, neither of whom is getting another shekel out of me) but they still abandon products eventually. I have a VL-70m synth module. It’s basically a preset machine without the computer software and they stopped updating their software about 15 years ago. I can hear some youngster saying - 15 years! The thing must be ancient , you’re an idiot to expect it to still work. Ok. But my guitar, my valve amp, synthesisers I bought in the 20th Century are all fine. But gear I bought in the early 2000s is bricked. I’m not avoiding buying stuff but I’m sure not spending a grand and a half on something that may not work in 10 years. Even 20. Anything I buy that has built in connectivity I now consider disposable. And I don’t want my larger, non impulse buys to be disposable. Which is the main reason I haven’t gone for a Kemperer or a Neural thingy. I bought a whole POD XT Pro setup 20 years ago and it barely connects to a computer anymore, it’s just a matter of time. The drivers and software I use for it are over a decade old now.
The original Gretsch Princess from the early ‘60s was a variation on the Gretsch Corvette model. The Princess was probably the first electric guitar specifically marketed to female players. It was basically a Corvette that was offered with gold hardware and so-called “feminine” colors like Pearl White, Pink, and Lavender. The catalog description was a male-chauvinist dream of early ‘60s advertising. I can’t remember the wording now, but as I recall it was pretty clichéd and silly. I don’t think Gretsch sold very many of those things-not a lot of female electric guitar players around back then, and the few that were around mostly played Fenders, Gibsons, etc; the same guitars that guys were playing. I knew one girl my age in the mid ‘60s who played electric guitar in a band-she was a very good rhythm guitarist, didn’t want to play lead and wouldn’t sing! She played a sunburst Strat-no goofy Princess guitars for her! Other than that, the only other girls I knew who played guitar were all acoustic folk players. And not very many of them either! Gretsch did some really crazy marketing to try and sell those Corvettes; they were Gretsch’s answer to the Gibson Les Paul Junior. I remember seeing one variation called the Peppermint Twist, which was painted with red and white stripes. Why isn’t Jack White playing one of those??
It morphed into a twin humbucker (seriously). HB/Thomann shared it on socials during the recent guitar summit show. It was out of public view round the back of the stand.
@@popskustom7382 we'll never know for sure but something clearly happened 🤔. A HH might have broader appeal to non Blink buyers and their own marketing/finance department might've suggested it - so I'm not 100% cynical that the change must've come at the "suggestion" of Fender. Afterall, you can't trademark a H strat. Though Thomann are also a large Fender dealer - a quiet word about the value of that contract might be all that it took.

It seems like the Harley Benton ST Moderns might be a move on Squier's territory, but I think they're really gunning for the Pacifica market.

Purposely building a rosewood bound fretboard in a 7 1/4 radius is the silliest damn thing any guitar company can do.
...but it's that way because Jazzmaster
Obviously there were no great guitar players before the 9.5” fretboard. 7 1/4 is just unplayable.

That Yamaha guitar has me GAS-ing to get an acoustic guitar again.
Check the current feedback on the Spark 2. Jussayin.
IS that you performing the ID Mobile voice over on E4? If not, you ahve a vocal doppelganger
I don t see that mutch difference with the mascis squier jazzmaster . Which has a crazy neck and p90
That Gretsch coming with a bolt on neck from a company who sells mostly set necks hints you may have to shim the neck most like on every Jazzmaster
I am not against a neck shim!
Guitar technology is so advanced now it won't be long before it'll play just looking at it. Which if you can't play can only be a good thing.
That Gretsch!!!!!!
If Gretsch are doing this body style again, why not just bring back the Corvette? Those were awsome and I missed out on them..
Corvette is Gretsch’s best looking solid, but that bolt-on with the wrong body-neck joining line is just weird. Beautiful colour, though.
