I think this show creeps me out more now as an adult than it did when I was a kid. Now as an adult I see how life and people can be so dangerous and some mysteries are never answered. Back then it was just a cool tv show to me.
I love how the two parapsychologist gentlemen approached the idea of paranormal phenomena. They actually came across as intelligent and logical (which is the opposite of how many skeptics who just scream “ghosts aren’t real and people who believe they are are idiots” come across, when they *think* they are coming across intelligent). The true geniuses of society have always kept an open-mind.
People with schizophrenia see things and have conversations with people they believe are as real as flesh and blood individuals. These ghosts/voices are the creations of their own brain. Others hallucinate and see ghosts or hear voices due to the influence of stress, extreme fatigue or intoxicants. Possible/likely the brain also produces these ghosts/voices due to other commonplace underlying stimuli that would not be known to the person experiencing such an occurrence.
Just found out that Gail's son Tim died this September at the age of 52. Very sad. Her other son, sister, and mother are all still alive and well however.
I remember the Gail DeLano story....because I live in Mobile And was saddened that she had ended her life here.Depression is something to be taken seriously as I have dealt with it.May her beautiful soul Rest In Peace
I live in Mobile too!!! Theodore to be exact!! I can not remember the first name alias she used at the hotel but the last was "Stafford." I thought it was weird because one of my best friend's growing up had a similar first name and the last name Stafford. She had the same body type. She is like 5'10. Similar hair cut but her hair was blonde or dirty blonde. Her mom still lives in Mobile and lives in one of the if not then THE first house built in Theodore. Its off in the woods off Highway 90. Looks like the house off "The birds." Remake not Alfred Hitchcock's. We thought it was haunted. There were servant quarters, an old chicken coop and barn. Really narrow stairs going up to a second floor and all of it was orginal!! You walked in and felt like you were in one of those scary plantation houses off the movies. Original claw foot bathtub. Even glass doors knobs. No one even knows the house is where it is. Its VERY close to Theodore High school. We walked there. We I sat hidden I mean HiDDEN. You have to go down a long driveway that could easily get mistaken for the driveway of a business thats in front. But this house is behind it near the train tracks. Also very oddly and I have yet to figure out....whoever owned that house owned a fair or carnival. There are bumper cars, ferris wheel you name it behind it in the woods. Has to have been sitting back there for 30 years. There is even a disco ball. Vines and rust. Even the toys you won. Crazy. Yep.
Being born in 1981 this show was a MUST SEE every week. I just knew that eventually there would be a story that I information on. Never came to fruition but I do now recognize some of the character actors that are now famous in some of the stories.

@Hana Yancey yeah I can which is why you make no sense. What does "being in crystal clear quality" mean for them being in the 70s and 80s? Cryatal clear quality to a normal english speaker would refer to the picture qulity of the filming. Can you not speak english?
It could've just been fabricated to add more creepiness to the show... If all those banging noises and moaning voices were really constantly happening down there in the ship's hull, many modern-day paranormal researchers (armed with all the latest technology) would've made a TON of actual recordings by now! 🤔
@OtomoTenzi I don't think so, jack. There are mysteries in this world that man will never understand with all his technology. Some things aren't meant to be understood.

I remember going to see the Queen Mary when I visited California in 2007. It really was quite the ship. One part I remember in particular was seeing the area where the pool was. Looking at this video, I learned more about it than what I did from when I actually set foot on it. It really is strange of the things that have happened.
The two "friends" who sat in the backseat and watched that man sexually assault a teenager and then run off and harm her are partially involved as far as I'm concerned. Who just sits back and watches that?!
The Queen Mary story always scared the crap out of me as a kid, especially the part @9:49. When I was little he looked so much scarier, but now, I see he's just normal looking.
An episode of Quantum Leap was filmed on this ship permanently moored at Long Beach, CA. A Poirot episode was filmed on the supposed Queen Mary, although I do not know if it was filmed on this ship or another one. The pool area is quite fascinating. I know it's haunted but I wonder why the pool is not filled with water? It is a nice example of 1930s Art Deco design.
@@goombabear state regulation and the fact the during the conversion from ocean liner to hotel and attraction they gutted a lot of the ship. They did fire two "warning shots". I think they had no choice but to wrestle with him and it just ended up that they were able to take him in without harming him
Times haven't changed. In Texas, a White female cop, murdered an unarmed black man in his own house, after she performed a home invasion. She only received ten years, and even got a hug from the judge. The more things change, the more they stay the same
@Robert Courson it's not that simple with depression. It is complex and can be debilitating. Try and understand. Yes, he's very calming and reassuring and I think that's what made him such a great choice and so popular as the host of this show. I think most people are saying the show itself and especially the music was scary, but Robert Stack was not.
I think that's the point. He makes us feel better about this kind of bad stuff. Idk if that makes sense but I find it helps.
@@robbiereilly Also, Stack had a mysterious and ethereal voice suitable for this program.
Oh.
Me too Cat. He'd be good for ASMR. Isn't he dead now?
I think this show creeps me out more now as an adult than it did when I was a kid.
Now as an adult I see how life and people can be so dangerous and some mysteries are never answered. Back then it was just a cool tv show to me.
The production value of these reconstructions are amazing
This Show Is just a gem
I have been watching Unsolved Mysteries for 30+ years Love the show
Same!!
It's one of those things you can't just wish away if you experience it personally.
Wow. Thanks
Sadly he took his own life aswell
If her mother is still alive (2023) she must be well in her 90s
Sorry. For. Ur. Loss😢

Gosh, with Robert Stack talk about hauntings and ghosts makes me shiver. I really love the old Unsolved Mysteries broadcasts on ghosts.
I remember the Gail DeLano story....because I live in Mobile And was saddened that she had ended her life here.Depression is something to be taken seriously as I have dealt with it.May her beautiful soul Rest In Peace
Her poor family......especially her two boys. 🥺
@@elleblue07 They continue to live with the memory of her loss.Special prayer for both 🙏🏽🥺
Yes.
The family doesn't understand what having depression is like. They kept saying she will never do that and leave us ..
There's something about the way Robert Stack told these stories that just gets into your mind. I love this show.
It's the way he talks to the audience; Robert Stack had a very clam and 'detached' tone of voice that nobody can ever match... That's why the show was such a HUGE success back in the 80's and 90's.

These are such an awesome period piece of the '70s and 80s, especially being in crystal clear quality
88 is the first season
@Hana Yancey they weren't recorded in the 70's though..
@Hana Yancey yeah I can which is why you make no sense. What does "being in crystal clear quality" mean for them being in the 70s and 80s? Cryatal clear quality to a normal english speaker would refer to the picture qulity of the filming. Can you not speak english?
@Hana Yancey ya know, I apologize, I thought you were the original commentor! My mistake.
The audio recorded of the ship's noises is absolutely frightening.
Big time! I could hear men's voices, but I couldn't make out what it was they were saying.
I am so glad and happy that they brought all of these Robert Stack episodes back!!
Amen son.
As a kid I always loved the paranormal one's. Especially ghost. Still do
The guy standing behind that lady on the escalator..I would've pissed my pants. That was creepy as hell
The ghost with footprints, I would have stared at them with amazement for a few seconds. Then, I would have ran out of the room, if that were me.

LoveEverton John That wasn’t really even that scary
Honestly they’re my least favorite because I know they are fake.
So happy these are the original with Robert stack, I l hate the ones with Dennis farina
Dennis Farina wasn't all that bad. And besides, Robert Stack died in 2003 so someone had to take over....I thought Dennis did a good job!
@@phayzyre1052 they changed the music too, some stupid rock music
@@azchanna I know and yes it was stupid. When A&E started showing reruns of the old "In Search Of" series back in the early 2000's they ditched the original intro music and replaced it with some silly synth-pop sounding crap that did it no justice whatsoever.
@@phayzyre1052 I'm inclined to go easy on ol' Dennis: as a real-life ex-cop, he actually narrated true crime stories pretty well. It was simply the creepier mysteries that escaped him, and the revised music & graphics (as you say) didn't help the show as a whole.
Dennis needed a co-host, really, and the show needed to keep the old music.
Nick Hentschel Dennis seemed to be a real down to earth kind of guy; almost like an old friend you could meet at the bar and have a few beers with. It’s a shame he’s no longer with us!

I remember going to see the Queen Mary when I visited California in 2007. It really was quite the ship. One part I remember in particular was seeing the area where the pool was. Looking at this video, I learned more about it than what I did from when I actually set foot on it. It really is strange of the things that have happened.
"She had that Northern accent pretty bad." Love that! Lol, that's exactly how I feel when I hear one of those Yankee accents.
The two "friends" who sat in the backseat and watched that man sexually assault a teenager and then run off and harm her are partially involved as far as I'm concerned. Who just sits back and watches that?!
I was going to ask: at 16:38 whose 'two friends' it was.
Male buddies

love the healthy skepticism of the Queen Mary section.
Damn ghost did not even leave a tip....
As time went by they feared that the weight of the water would collapse the pool cause there were no longer proper support underneath it. The ship is in really bad shape and some fear that the long neglect is beyond repair. The state of the pool currently is sad.

@Robert Courson it's not that simple with depression. It is complex and can be debilitating. Try and understand.
