  • My Singing Monsters was a game I used to play quite a lot in 2014, and recently it's been seeing quite the resurgence. In this video I'll be going over the company behind it, Big Blue Bubble, and try to deduce what caused the game to become even more popular than ever. This is similar to some of my other videos about Plants vs Zombies, Cut the Rope, and Angry Birds, so if you liked this one check the others out too!

The peak in 2013 is thanks to the Ethereal Island update. The Island was the first new island since the islands planned from release and attracted lots of new people as it was the first to feature completely new monsters. It was featured across google play and the App Store when the update came, which is why it hit its peak then. And the reason why the trailer has so many views is because up until around a year ago Google Play used the RUclips trailer and this contributed to the videos views. It's so cool to see so many people discovering the game, awesome editing! 😁

The reason why Composer exists as an app is because of the fact that the actual Composer Island was too limiting with its monsters. (Basically meaning that there weren’t enough monsters on that island to compose up of a good song). Composer includes things such as Rares, Ethereals, etc. (And it seems like BBB didn’t bother updating the actual Composer Island, which is fair I guess).

The absolute passion behind My Singing Monsters is so damn intriguing to me. The musical talent that goes behind some of these songs is staggering! like the funky (completely real, yup its not a soundfont) double bass of Thwok give Wublin Island a jazzy kick, the gorgeous bassoon of Blassoom on Starhenge lasting 12 WHOLE MEASURES OF NO REPEATING TRACKS, the surprising yet welcome collaboration with country singer/songwriter Kristian Bush to make Shugabush Island, and the incredible complexity and funkiness of Bone Island. The insane amount of musical talent and passion behind this awe-inspiring game series is what many other games should aspire to do! And that artstyle OOOOH that artstyle! it perfectly mixes detailed, creepy, and charming to make some incredible designs (except everything on celestial island, screw you celestial island). And finally... The charm! The main thing that has kept me interested all these years is... well yeah the music, but the charm of the universe big blue bubble has created! From the ancient times of the Dawn of Fire with the continent splitting apart at the end, to the colossals sacrificing themselves for all the monsters, and finally to the modern monster world where new islands and friends are being discovered all the time! Just do yourself a favor and look up the lore of these games, its so fascinating! well... sorry for ranting so long, I just love this series so much and I want to see it do great thing!

While other games of their era had died out or become lazy, Msm has done nothing but improve over the past 10 YEARS! That’s insane. The dedication to their craft is unrivaled, and a game is always better when it’s developers enjoy what they do. I love how the game and its creators can be as funny as they want to be. While it isn’t many people’s taste, it’s still an incredible game for multiple audiences of people.

As someone who has been supporting My Singing Monsters almost since it's release, it's WILD the amount of random popularity it's getting. It comes with it's pros and cons, and I'm willing to accept the trend with open arms. The quiet resilience of the Monster-Handlers has finally payed off!

It's nice to see it grow like this because I remember back in 2015-2016 when the community was so small and there were only like 2-3 large creators. Since then many more have arrived and now there is more competition. Many of the old creators though have either retried, faded into obsurity, or just simply stepped down from their high positions in the community. I will miss many of them, but I also welcome the new creators who can bring new ideas to the table. I am proud to have been in the My Singing Monsters community long enough to see it start, fall, enter the golden age, fall again, and then grow to what it is now (by fall I don't mean disappear I mean a long period of time without new creators or content being made.)

Seeing My Singing Monsters peak in player count in the past few months has…well, peaked my interest on how that came to be, but it came to the simple answer of TikTok fame. Aside of that, it’s mostly the updates that the game brings with new monsters, and islands to discover, as well as new songs to build up.
Also to fix an error in the video, My Singing Monsters Dawn of Fire is the game’s prequel, not sequel. Dawn of Fire takes place in the past before the continent split apart, before it was formed into the monster world that’s in the main game.
Edit: The My Singing Monsters Composer app is meant to be an extension of the Composer Island in the main game, but with more monsters to use in the song, and more options to use than originally before in the original game.

As someone who played MSM, CoC, Dragon City, and Monster Legends, what kept me playing MSM to this day is the passion that is clearly put into every aspect of the game. The other games (Especially Dragon City) felt more and more pay to win as you progressed. MSM? It always felt like they WANTED you to progress, though the process can be a bit of a tedious waiting game at times, it pays off with a new addition to the island song. The way each monster is so thoughtfully designed from their names to their sound. The lore behind the game. I've been playing since 2013, I've got a lot of memories with this game. I'm happy to see it doing well. I've gotten the younger family members into the game so that they may have their own fond memories of funny cartoon monsters

I have been playing this game since 2012, and it is one of my favorite games of all-time. I am really happy it is resurging in popularity. I love this game because the singing aspect, every monster adding their own piece to the song really adds an incentive to collect more monsters, and the songs in this game are iconic (especially plant island). Thank you for doing a review on this game that I love so much.

I was one of those people who downloaded the game in 2013-
Another thing is that a lot of the time the monsters mostly do their own thing yet in a way that doesn't sound cacophonous... and it blends well, like in Mythical Island. It's currently incomplete but you have one monster doing spacey harp effects, one being an entire jungle percussion ensemble, and one that yodels- and yet it somehow blends together really well. It's the kind of music that you can't really get anywhere else.

One of the biggest reasons why my singing monsters is so fun for me, is how on games like clash of clans, sometimes it’s entertaining just to stare at your base for a while, and just mess around with the layout. In my singing monsters, that’s the entire objective of the game. And while there’s a huge progression, and as of now PvP aspect to the game, at the end of the day it’s all just sitting around and listening to your monsters sing.

MSM was honestly really creative on the already existing concept. Slowly building a song by breeding monsters is WAY more creative than just buying random dragons to fight them or buying a 5000 pack of clash of clans gems so you can get that level 14 Town Hall without having to grow old and die 5 times over.
Also MSM composer is basically an expanded version of Composer Island. You can use basically EVERY monster, not just naturals from the first 5 islands. Rares and Epics also have their own sounds. You can place more than 1 note per line allowing for more variety, and in general it’s a 10x better music maker than the main composer island.

If you ever need another mobile game company to cover I would SO recommend Mediocre Games there games are not at all mediocre, they have made games that are so great gameplay wise and graphically. They managed to make free mobile games that manage to look better than a 60 dollar switch game. So yeah. Mediocre Games has made some of the most underrated masterpieces. PLUS, no one on RUclips has ever covered this company so you can have a completely original video. I hope you see this comment and that I gave enough good reasons why you should cover this mobile game company.
