- Hi all!
In this video I will be showing you how to thread your needle and prepare it for stitching for modern hand embroidery. I will also be showing you how to tie off the thread after you are done stitching.
Make sure to follow me on Instagram @maryleafmakes
Thank you for explaining that. Everyone else skips over the part that it has a tail and is not knotted. 😬😬😬
Omygod. Ive been searching for hours and was confused why my thread is so thick. This is the only video that has mentioned its gotta have a tail.
@@snowangel8881 You don't HAVE to use the tail way but if to tie the two ends together, you need to begin with half as many threads
🤙
I agree finally this video explains it well!
This was great, couldn’t find a video that explains why/how you thread it and leave the tail! Everyone seems to skip that part and I didn’t understand why there was a tail in all the videos I’ve seen!!
I bought a little kit on a whim, and I was wondering why the design looked so thicc it's because I was threading my needle like I was going to sew something. Everything makes sense now. Thank you so much! You're awesome!!!!
Just a tip for everyone 🙏 Cute the thread in 45 degrees on any angle with sizers, so that way thread goes very easy into niddle hole. Thank you🌍
best tip ever, got it the first try. thank you
I've been wanting to get back into embroidery and my grandma sent me some patterns to practice. I couldn't remember how to get started with it, but this is EXACTLY how she taught me when I was a kid, it all fell back into place for me. Thank you!
I tied mine off the same way but second guessed myself and RUclipsd how to do it. I feel so better now that I got confirmation. Thank you for this video!
Thank you soooo much for this! ❤️ I wasn’t sure what to do with the tail but this solved my problem haha
Thank you! This was the easiest video for me to follow!
Literally the best explanation video ever!!
Thank you so much for explaining in detail.❤️
Thank you soo mich I was searching for it everywhere and then I found you thank you ♥️
Simple and sweet. Very helpful! Thanks. I'm off to begin lol!
this was very informative!!! my first time attempting and it was very smooth!! thank you
this is sosososososo helpful!! i’m trying to embroider my school backpack to add some spice and i had forgotten how to embroider even though i have done before 😂 thank you so much!!
this was super helpful. thank you so much!
Thank you for this!! Its very helpful
I needed this! Thank you very much
How do you prevent your tail from pulling back through your needle while you're switching?
Exactly what I’m trying to understand!!
Someone answer this
Sameee
ive heard that you're supposed to hold the needle by its eye to kinda hold the tail in place, but it's a little hard to get used to lol, so practice i guess
She's actually holding the end of the needle which keeps the thread in place
Thank you so much! this is very useful.
This was super helpful!
Thus was very helpful!
Thank you for this video ❤️
Thank you for this!
Great job , i am braziliam. Hanks for madeThis video..
I LOVE the way you made the ending knot. That way it can't pop out through the fabric. Sometimes for the beginning knot, if I'm afraid the knot may eventually pop through, say I'm using two strands of thread. I'll make the beginning knot, put my needle through to the front and then when I go back down, I'll slip the needle through the two strrands above the knot before going back to the top. Did that make sense?
Thank you this helped!
I luv ur vid
Thank you for the easy to understand video! Just a question though, won’t the needle come off since one end of the thread isn’t knotted??
To answer your question:
I promise, if you keep the tail long enough and don’t pull too hard, the tail will not come through while embroidering. When you hold the needle, try to hold on at the eye to help keep it from coming through. It just takes some practice but it’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it!
How does the tail not come out of the eye when you’re embroidering or pulling the thread to make a stitch? Are you holding the needle with the tail and the thread next to it?
which end of the thread off the skein do you use to prevent knotting .... cut end or the older end ??? it has something to do with the twist
I joined a discord and had trouble with my thread looking bulkier than the guide...so im just here to see how thr needles and thread works
THANK YOU!!!
I find, for me, Vaseline works pretty good for flattening the end out 😊
P.S
THANK YOU I was trying to embroider as if I was sewing and it was so confusing this is WAY easier
Thank you so much, I have been doing it where I connect both ends and tie a knot, I feel like I waste so much floss.
Does it mean the other side is not knotted? If its open then how is holding up fine while embroidering?
The knot on the bottom always allows there to be tension in the thread.
You tie the final knot at the end when the thread gets short enough that there's not enough thread to work with and still knot it at the end.
So do you keep going until you have no more tail?
So you don’t knot off the tail? Near the needle head?
What is an “anchor” or “thread anchor” that is spoken about? I can’t find it on the internet, can someone provide a link, or product name? I have MS and it has affected my manual dexterity a lot, any help would be appreciated!
Which fabric are u using?
What’s the purpose of the tail?
If I make a knot where the needle is then it gets sometimes hard to pull through the fabric. That's why I leave the tail at the start.
@@type_Kizuna A knot where the needle is??? The tail is so that you can start with a longer piece of thread while keeping it at a constant length while you stitch.
@@lesliekendall5668 she also called it like that so I assumed it was where the needle is. Whoops
Whenever I leave the tail the thread slides right out the needle as I try to embroider!
I'm sooo confused. There's only one knot at the end of the thread?? Not on to hold the actual thread to the needle to stop it from falling out??
So why not just use a sewing needle accessory to thread the needle? Is it not the same with embroidery floss?
Ok so I got how to thread it how other ppl do it. But when you showed how you do it with the tail I got lost Bc you didn't show it in the camera your hand was covering it
Say if you want to use 2 strands, all she was saying is that she threads the needle with 2 strands and leaves a tail. But some people put 1 strand through the needle and tie the ends together to make it end up 2-stranded.
Ok so how you thread your needle you leave a tail & at the top you make a knot as well as the bottom you make a knot right? Sorry I've watched it over and over but you didn't show how you knot it at the top. I'm a beginner so I know absolutely nothing I'm trying to learn
Yeah I’m also confused about that
There's NO knot at the top.
She made a single knot at the bottom (which usually isn't big enough and will pop through the fabric) but instead of making the knot bigger by tying knot after knot in the same place, she made the knot larger on the bottom by wrapping the thread around the needle and sliding it down to the lower knot.
@@lesliekendall5668 do you do the same when doing a pattern that calls for one strand? the knot is so small and doesn’t hold up
@@prideandpity I've never done just one strand but if it's that small or if it's iffy like that, I'd loop it through a stitch on the back and knot it to the loop.
