Now you know how to thread a needle, would you like to know more about the various types of needle? Check out my video here: ruclips.net/video/u1sSpWLJq6E/видео.html
Thank you for that. It's all much clearer now. Two small things to hopefully make you smile about needles. Mum always wondered how this supposedly right handed child threaded, eventually, a needle left handed. Still not learnt to do it right handed! And ..... plain hemming, at my in laws I was happily hemming a very long skirt hem. Got as far as I could right handed, so promptly moved the needle to my left and carried on hemming. Poor Mother in Law blinked, looked twice and asked, " Did you just do that? " "Do what?" I replied. I had no idea I did that, apparently I still do and its perfectly natural!
It took me 73 attempts (approximately) but I did finally thread the tiniest eyed needle known to man using the first technique. I will now attempt to sew a button on a jacket. After a nice cup to tea to calm myself down! Many thanks for your help.
I have just found your wonderful teaching of embroidery techniques as I am using a 12” iPad and explanations are tremendous. Keep up the great work an ideas. I was doing quilting for a few years but now age does not allow this so I am learning to do embroidering and I just love it - THANKYOU. Mrs J. 30/06/2023.
I have been embroidering since I was taught the basics in the fifth grade. That was 59 years ago. No one ever showed me this method. Can not wait to try it! Many thanks!
I have heard this method referred to as “needling the thread” as opposed to threading the needle. Thank you for sharing your incredible wealth of knowledge.
Ma gram used to get frustrated and tell me she was focusing on her needling! Most often when she was threading needles, despite the fact that she taught me this method it didn't occur to me that she was needling a thread LOL
Not a single negative comment or criticism. That is because of your great tips and great video! Wish I had seen this years ago, when the eye of the needle started getting smaller and smaller! Or was the thread just getting more and more stubborn...... THANK YOU!!! No more frustration!
Used the method of thread between thumb and finger with really fine thread. It worked the very first time! I’m so amazed! My eyes thank you, my fingers thank you, and I thank you!
After searching over an hour for my needle threader, I came to youtube for help. I have a very small #10 needle and very very small beading thread. I doubted this method would work on such a small eye, but lo and behold, the method worked the first time PERFECTLY! Thank you for saving me much more time of searching and going crazy!

After I saw this video I tried it and what do you know!!!! Every time I thread a needle now I say "thank you Sarah" for showing us this easy way to thread our needles. Love it.
Sarah, this video has been a game changer for me! I've always dreaded threading my needle, especially with multiple strands. Your methods have successfully allowed me to get back to the embroidery I love without spending time on several attempts at threading my needles. Thanks so much!
I didn't understand the multiple strands. She split the 6 strands in 3. What happened to the other 3? Did they get pulled through or were pulled totally apart and discarded?
Just a basic beginner who Is still learning stitches and wanting to do mindful stitching, I am so glad to have found your channel you do such a fabulous job at explaining things and even free samples to try our hand at which is kind of exciting Wanted to take a moment to let you know I plan on doing some binge watching very soon, Thank you so much such fantastic tutorials, love every one. I love your content! This really works! I learned this method as a young boy many, many years ago when I was taught how to weave in the ends of yarn on my crochet projects. It has served me well through the years for every gauge, from the bulkiest of yarns to to the very finest of needlework threads. Though there is some obvious flexibility with applications of different types of needles, it is important to note, especially for beginners, that failure to use the proper needle for the task can mean the difference between success and failure, and could possibly explain any undue difficulty experienced when using this method.
Thank you, Sarah, you made it look so easy. I will give your technique a go. I Stitch a lot & still find threading very fiddly. Your stitching is beautiful. 😊
The pinch tip was all I needed. What a fantastic trick for me this morning when i haven't threaded a needle in decades. And the suggestion not to lick it was added success. Thanks

Wow - and I thought I knew how to thread a needle! I’m very grateful for this as I’m in the middle of a big project and constantly rethreading using 6 strand DMC. The first time I tried your method it worked. 🙏 Happy days.
Brilliant! I've been sewing and embroidering for 70+ years and got pretty good at just stuffing the end of the thread through the hole. THIS however, is nearly magical! I hadn't discovered the needles have a fat side and a narrow side to fold the yarn flatter. DUH. Pinch allll the air out of the yarn for better result. DUH! Thanks Sarah, my biggest problem due to poor eyesight is finding the hole of the needle. I do thread my needles the way you suggest, however I have folded the thread every time and run it through to the point end as it is much smaller. I also have trouble threading a machine needle but much harder for me, all a bit of luck and if I shut my eyes I seem to be able to focus better. Also I too am right handed the needle is always in my right hand just the way I roll.
This might sound strange Caraline, but you don't necessarily need to be able to see the hole if you use this method! It's more about the way you handle the thread. I hold the thread in my right hand and the needle in my left as I'm right handed and for this method you need more control of the thread not the needle; try it the other way around! I've been doing this so long I can actually thread the needle underneath a frame without seeing either the thread or the needle at all! For your machine needle, you could take the needle out of the machine, thread it, then put it back in?
