I was so sick on the final few clips, and still have on and off fever today. Sorry about that. hope no one notices
@@typxxilps Can you post your evidence on the forum. This was a big issue with the first powerpro and after thousands of pages of arguing with many of the actual engineers from china, we found there to be zero issue. This argument has been brought up so many times and was an issue on older cells, but everything being sold today is able to handle it and the manufacturers have said the same thing.
In german?? these are not made in germany.. Does eve manufacture cells in germany now? What cell?
Ohh its a youtube video? Can you have someone post actual evidence to the forum or something. Or show proof of a failure.
@@typxxilps we had this discussion multiple years ago with battery chemists and engineers from major suppliers. The distributors verified as well too. Lets see your evidence and post it on the forum and we will check it out
@@typxxilps Oh I know exactly what graphic you are talking about, we posted that years ago on the forum. Cell suppliers have different recommendations now. If you have any recent data sheets or recommendations for newly manufactured cells, post on forum and we will be all over it
Will is probably the only RUclipsr that I would turn my addblocker off for.
Thank you :)
I agree. The knowledge he brings to us is by far worth turning ad blocker off.
Agreed. He and his channel taught me many useful skills. Batteries, solar, wiring. I appreciate it
Or use RUclips premium and support all the content creators you watch
Disabling the adblocker is not even to interfere with the watching experience by showing ads all over the video, only for the clicking of the link.
You are a master at this. Shows you don't have to make a video talking for 5 hours about nothing to make great content. Straight to the point and apt.
Batteries have come so far in the last 5 years. I started with Tesla's, then built my own with 18650's. EG4 is just killing it with everything they make.
Wait. You built yours using the 18650s? Wow! What is the size of the bank you built?
Agree! Systems with UPS features too and more!
Clear, concise, no BS. Will has no peer.
Will mentions this is a great solution for an off-grid cabin - however, seems like we're now moving away from just a cabin solution and more towards a full-time standard residence off-grid solution. I'm liking where this is headed.
I want to just cut my line to the power company all together. They can raise their rates all they want. Unfortunately to keep your certificate of occupancy in my jurisdiction I need a power bill. Quite ridiculous.
@@zyxwvutsrqponmlkh its still useful as v cheap rented back up tho for if you ever do have downtime
Love the intro. The back braker 5000😂
My Jackery 500 is now a newspaper weight. This tech keeps getting so much better at warp speed.
Yeah those are pretty bad at this point haha
I mean... when they started selling them at harbor freight ya had to know ...
ugh yeah I still have my Jackery 240 Explorer
Replace the battery with like for like. Did that with mine
Wait for Sodium batteries. The price diff is insane. Even if those carry taxes, the price vs LFP will still be 20%.
It's only gonna take an year and a half for them to reach the states I imagine. If you can hold off until then, do so.
A thin sheet of acrylic over the internal would be good.
I was thinking Kapton tape/film but ya... if you are opening that thing even once putting some "safety" covering on it appeals to me.
@@phlogistanjones2722hell I would want to install a "safety" covering before even moving it into position, wouldn't wanna risk something heavy hitting it and bending the front cover
The cell holders actually protrude out to protect the bus bars. They are black so difficult to see. Not an issue if you damage front of battery. The whole cell case would prevent that from occuring. Was an issue on other packs but those had fiber board. This one doesn't need it
might defeat the less-than-necessary fire extinguishers?
Does heat and venting become an issue?
Best solar info channel on RUclips by far! Thanks for the videos Will!
Gerbil Generator... that sounds like an awesome April Fool's video for next year. Haha.
🤣😂
Maybe that's what EG4 stands for... Energy Gerbils 4, although I think you'll need to replace the water in their bottles with Red Bull. 🤣😂😆
8000 cycles to 80%. Incredible lifespan on these systems.
thats pretty normal these days
@@woodzyfox4735really I thought 3000-5000 was the normal
@@klev2008 Depends on the C rate. the 3-5k cycle life per the datasheet is typically at much higher C rate than a battery this size would see under typical solar/storage applications.
@@upnorthandpersonal gotcha, I like this set up, didn’t think about the C rating playing into it..
It's now the case people will be bequeathing their batteries to their children.
The amount on anxiety as you were holding a crescent wrench above the open batteries - let’s just say I was very uncomfortable even watching it. Awesome system!
Yeah thing needs a simple piece of clear plastic a couple millimeters thick.
Hehe it hurt my soul just joking about it 😂😂
I held on tight
Terrifying
It's best to drop the wrench across cell 8 positive to cell 9 negative...and hope those are the only terminals it touches!
Awesome video! I would love to see you do a video focused less on solar hardware, and more on the best ways to lower energy consumption with major appliances, like water heaters, air conditioning/heat, laundry units, etc... How to get the best bang for your buck when designing a home with solar in mind.
I bought my home in March 1984. 40 years of being here. I have had 3 roofs put on since buying the house. The last one was put on in 2019. It's a sprayed on rigid urethane foam roof.
The attic gable fan used to run 14 hours a day in the Summer. The thermostat is set to 95F. It almost never runs anymore. The foam roof cut my heating bill by 65%. I don't even have AC. The place stays cool in the Summer until evening when I open the windows all night. I never installed double pane windows. I did lifestyle changes that cut my electric consumption from 24-28 kw per day down to 8-10 kw per day. Not bad for a 2900 sq ft house. I do it for fun. I'm a retired Engineer and found plenty of solutions to live a normal life even if the SHTF and we lose the grid for a few weeks. If I ever build a house it will have 2x6 studs, sprayed in foam, tons of improvements, a real basement, and everything that I could think of to operate efficiently.
You had fun on this video and it shows. Happy Will makes for a fun video.
As someone who has their setup in the garage I actually prefer this over the PowerPro outdoor model. I like the screen and charge indicator on the front along with the busbars on the top. Now, if only I had waited a couple of months to buy my equipment...
Me as well
yes! Current Connected! Thanks Will!
So cool that you showed it with a 6000 watt heater!! I had my furnace go out and this setup could have kept my house warm.😊
Thanks! I’m gonna have to pick up this set up. I made a spreadsheet to see the consumption of my electrical use for my house. I’m averaging between 4KW and 6 kW a day. I think this could handle my weekly consumption with cloudy days so cool.
Good stuff, Will, thanks for another great video! And the 'gerbils spinning on wheels' crack was an unexpected and hilarious departure from your normally straight-laced style!
I watch a lot of your videos, but this one made me laugh so much. It's nice to see you having fun during your reviews.
This battery is nice, but at 1lb per amp hour, I would need surgery after trying to move this anywhere. Thank you as always for delivering very informative entertainment ❤
What timing! I just got my 6000XP and PowerPro yesterday. What a great tutorial to watch as I put this all together. Thanks!
You're the best Will! Thank you!!!!!!!! Pretty sure you're single handedly keeping the industry honest, fair priced, quality checked, and innovative. Can this be used laid down on its back? Thanks again! Bless
Fantastic! Nice work on this review!
These need to all give you a custom discount code to use. That would help you and the customers.
That's a great idea!
Will - thanks for the presentation - This looks like a very viable option. For your power cables, I'd run those on the outside of the connectors (as opposed to crossing on the inside of the connectors). This also keeps power away from communications - which is always a good idea.
Just this set up alone blows the doors off the New Eco Flow Ultra. So blessed I had not purchased one yet.
Will, the only thing you forgot was when lifting with your back, make sure you use a jerking and twisting motion 💪
😂😂😂😂
“Lifting’s a breeze,
When you bend at the back”
Ow😅
Thanks for your videos, things change quickly so it’s great to have you explaining things to us.😊
im so excited about this battery, thank you for the video
As time goes on, systems are getting more affordable.
Competition does this. Government programs do the opposite.
BUT, what about repairs, warranties? ya just can't call a local repair man.
Hmm. I've installed 2 separate EG4 systems for my customers. The 1st was an 18K EG4 inverter (outputs 12,000 watts) with a server rack of 30 KWH storage. The 2nd was an EG4 18K inverter with 2 power pro batteries 14.something kwh (28 kwh total). I love the conduit box. Having the pre engineered knockouts saves lots of time. However, when the second battery doesn't have an inverter over it creates a conundrum about how to cover the knockouts. I put some plexiglass under them inside the conduit box and filled the gaps with clear silicon. Wasn't sure what else to do. The price point is great, but maybe not as great as it might seem since they want you to stop ay 10% or higher state of charge. Other lithium batteries can go all the way to zero. The outdoor version requires unscrewing the side panels to get at the display and breakers. Pretty stupid. I like the indoor version. Not sure I would ever get the 6000 watt version. Just get the 18K (12000 watts). Customer support was pretty good at Signature Solar. But there is alot of horsing around with tech support to get the settings right. Pretty weird. I just want to use the batteries for backup when the power goes out, but tech support keeps setting it so the batteries discharge and charge when the grid is working. Pretty annoying. The value is good, but expect to spend hours dealing with tech support and them tampering with your settings, the voltage going too low and setting alarms, and tech support setting the inverter to drain the batteries to near zero in the middle of the night then acting like it was no big deal.
Sent this post to signature solar head staff. And there are now covers for the knockouts that come with the box.
didnt your conduit box come with plugs to seal the top holes? It should have. Secondly these boxes are not nema rated. EG4 needs to fix that. Best way to do so is to include enough conduit knockout plugs for all of the knockouts. RIght now, water gets into my boxes just from the knockouts still being there. They need to be sealed.
@@jgoldenberg123 The conduit boxes came with massive numbers of plugs and fittings. No-one can even remotely criticize them for that. I installed the equipment indoor, so whether tight was never an issue for me. However, putting lumpy plugs into the top of a conduit box where no inverter sits on it doesn't create a nice finished look. If they had not knocked out half of the holes before shipping, that would have been better, and made it easy for me to leave a flat surface for the customer. Otherwise, the conduit boxes may be my favorite feature of the install. They are very cool and useful.
@@mozilla700 Yea, they are ok, its kind of strange to me to put a seal on the front door of the device where there are so many places water can leak in becuase of all the holes they punched. Honestly, just put some marks on it or something, so that you can drill them accurately. I dont understand how these boxes will ever pass for any outdoor nema rating. Working in the trade, they should let the electrician punch the hole. They are enabling DIYers to do this all wrong by pre-punching the holes. Every installation of these conduit boxes will be slightly different. I cant wait to see what the inspector thinks of these boxes, I may have to surround them with an actual rated nema box. I am very worried.
@@jgoldenberg123 These battery packs are INDOOR ONLY rated. Not sure which video you were watching.
Looks like a wish list item once I get my solar panels back up and running.
Nice power bank, EG4 has been stepping up their game. Looks like a 2-cheerio bowl day to move. Still like the outdoor models even if putting in a power shed, basement, wherever, in case of physical or storm damage, with possible water invasion. Having the conduit box might keep it protected just like the weatherproof setups. Thank for the video Will.
Thx for keeping us up to date on the battery options !!!
I have an Anker 521 and a Anker 535 which are now boat anchors. Thankfully I've moved on with larger plans for the future. Thanks Will for your guidance!
For you and others in similar situations. Is the no way to sell og these second hand and recoup a little of the invested money?
Plus, I think the best system is the one you already have up and running. At least in a power outage.😊
Thanks for another fantastic video! I was just talking with a friend of mine because both of us are building skoolies. We were discussing off grid systems and your videos came up. We both agreed that it would be great to see a video that compared a Victron system paired with EG4 server batteries to a system that consists of the 6000XP and the EG4 PowerPro. Seeing how the specs compare as well as cost would be fantastic. It seems like the 6000XP with the EG4 PowerPro would be a better value, but you are FAR more knowledgeable than I am lol. Aside from specs and price, I REALLY like the compact form factor. It seems like it would take up less space and be a less complicated setup than having all the individual Victron components wired to each other.
Sending love all the way from Nigeria. You videos have a ton of useful information. Keep the good work going. You are loved.
LOVE THIS! Thanks for sharing, Will!
hey thanks Jason!!
@@WillProwse you should give us a run down of all your systems! How many kwh do you have now days!? Haha

Literally the only RUclipsr I would disable my add blocker for. Thank you again for how much you have helped me over the years with all my projects I never buy anything electrical unless you have talked about it. It looks like this may be one of my next purchases I'm about to start an electric boat project but I'm curious would this be ok to mount sideways?
This is really cool! Thanks for all the informative videos!
Will is the only one I'd disable ad blocker for
This seems like an excellent starting point paired with a 6000xp.. awesome..
I love that they are making larger battery packs .less wires equals better efficiency
28.6kwh with 12kw power wall for $10k for a good reliable system can't beat that. Thank you for another excellent review
Your videos literally helped me build my first solar with victron system . :)
@DIYSOLARPOWERWITHWlLLPROWSE any time
Love EG4, agree pull the panel cover in a rubber room
Another great video! Welcome back. You’ve been gone for a while (or RUclips stopped alerting me which is more likely).
I am seriously considering using this system in my house. I can have it installed when I upgrade to a 200 amp panel and drop line.
I can have them run conduit outside for adding solar at a later time when my budget permits.
Until then it can be used as a battery backup system for my house.
After adding the solar I could use it to charge by Tesla Model Y. 👍
This is really cool! Thanks for sharing! Will definitely remove the ad blocker when I buy!
Thank you Will for the great information.
Will, you've always been the top go-to authority on solar panels, and electrical components and its processes. A super important question: how do we keep all this safe from an EMP disaster? I've seen videos on anti-EMP attack devices to protect your car, but how do we know these devices stop EMP from damaging our car? Please, please help?
Wonderful
Love that voice …. I have 110% trust in this guy
Thanks for being awsome and sharing some of yer sea scrolls of knowledge ya harr! Have a awesome day!
The capability and simplicity of this system is great however I wish there were horizontal mounting options for both the battery and inverter. This would really expand the use cases to include RV's (my use case) and other off grid installations.
Sounds like a T-shirt title: "Welded and Screwed"😂😂😂
That thing looks amazing!
I don't have an indoor room for this setup, but it is good to know if I can get a garage built
Very interesting setup. I want to build a tiny cabin and this should work. Thanks
That’s a pretty sweet combo deal!
Great video. This will go in my off grid home.
Very informative Will! :)
Oh man, I think i found the system for my off grid cabin. Trophy Battery has some competition now with the price and built in heater.
Love it! You should check out the Vatrer 51.2v server rack battery. Outside of the no communications it's very impressive for the price. I think could give EG4 lifepower4 server racks batteries a run for their money. Especially with reliable capacitors and a touch screen display that shows you every cells health
Love your content! Installer grade content for VARs with enough info for DIY to roll their own with well informed real world product reviews. Top notch!
Good work Will
This is interesting. I'm currently planning my off grid cabin build and might be going this route. Your content has been very helpful. I will use your links whenever I'm ready to make my purchase(s). Would love to run my final system design by you if you have a few minutes to spare. Cheers buddy 😁🍷
I will be buying one next month. Already have eg4 server rack batteries with 2 eg4 3000 inverters. I think I can hook the server rack batteries to the bus bars on top and one communication cable to each battery.
just about spit my coffee out laughing so hard at your Gerbil comment-Thanks for laughs during your review!! Keep up the great work!
😁😁😂😂
Im building an off grid cabin in the next few months, I'll be doing this combo
Thanks Will 🙂
Awesome so easy and cheap technology is finally getting there price wise and usability thanku
The industry is rapidly improving, wasn't but a few years ago everything solar would look hacked together. Now home owners with little experience can install professional and safe equipment on their own for very reasonable cost
Looks like the best unit for me. As I would like to have a system like this. But being in the UK we only run 240v. So would need a system that is dedicated 240 only 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This looks like it might be the one 💍 for my soon to be system
Nice, still working on my 12v
Amazing how the prices keep dropping and the technology keeps improving at the same time. I've got 6 EG4LL's connected to a Sol-Ark 15K. I'm wondering if adding one of these would work and still maintain the closed loop communications. Great video, thanks.
Awesome video. Thank you.
Hope to see your review on the Anker Solix X1 soon
Keep up the great videos
🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Thanks!
Professional work 💯👍
Thanks Will!
Another fantastic video Will! My jaw dropped at 6:32, where'd you find the jack-up table lift? :)
hahaha great review man. You've helped me decide that i'm going with the EG4 18kpv and 1 or 2 of these new powerpros. I am leaning towards some bifacial panels, about 12 to 14kw of them. I think that'd be a sweet setup for $15k ish
*I have recently started seriously researching everything as i'm building a new home. It seems the battery tech, solar tech, inverter/charger tech......all of it is getting better and cheaper at quite a rapid pace. I won't be installing my kit for 10 months or more so who knows, by then it's gonna be even cheaper and better! My 2023 model 3 with the new LFP batteries made me a believer in LiFEPo for sure. THanks !
I'm with ya, I was about to do the EcoFlow Ultra setup but will now wait too.
Hi Will, thank you very much, very interesting. Have a great year an good luck. M
Looks good. I'm just shy on all the electronic interfaces. We're on ledge. Had a ground strike last year. Had to replace anything with circuit boards, even non electronics like magnet cabinet closures which blew apart. Even things not plugged in like my wifi hot spot.😢
Will, love your content. Have seen every video since you were living in the RV. Video Suggestion, could we see a pros and cons comparison of the Ecoflow Delta Pro Ultra compared to the system in this video. It seems the EG4 combo is significantly cheaper and has more capacity in some areas. I think a buy vs build could be very interesting.
Oddly enought, this video went live close to the same time my back went out again. I can barely get out of bed right now. That is a good deal. I spent about 1/3 that much for my ecoflow delta 3 years ago.
Not fun :(
Right?! Crazy
I'll likely choose the EG4 Power Pro when building my system. I'm not planning to install outside but might still pay the extra couple hundred dollars for a little extra protection.
Thanks for all of your fantastic videos Will!
Thanks

...
What a great system & battery setup. Like many others, the battery busbars really should have & need some form of a protective layer, it looks extremely dangerous when opened up & leaves a lot of potential for accidents with exposed busbars like this, if the front cover was hit with something heavy like a car in a garage it could have serious implications.
Stellar, as always
Can’t wait to see the Ruixu wall mount. Has a bit more capacity
Sorry to hear about the ad blocker problem. As a programmer an ad blocker should not affect affiliate links. If it does it's a decision made to not award a commission that falsely blames ad blockers.
Excellent, detailed review.
Well, if I had to comment, I notice huge efforts made by EG4 trying to keep up with market demand, knowing there are 200A 'BMS' strong competitors that are well renowned. It has such a beautiful, rugged, strong-built case, ropes, flexibile busbars and much-needed add-ons inside (2x fire extinguishing packages, a front smart display, heat pads, an MCB for the DC line, and parallel terminals), which are all a plus.
But its lacking when it comes to cell balancing, and with its 120 mA passive balancer, the cells 'can and will' go off balance at some point in time (no matter how matched their internal resistance is). Its low balancing capabilities won't be enough to fix such problems with ease, like a 'JK BMS' and 'Seplos V3.0' would.
Also, why do busbars have to be welded? Why not give the option for the user to replace a bad cell? Of coarse, one could drill and undo the stud, but this is a danger that can be avoided by using ordinary nuts other than laser-welded ones.
For those who don't know the consequences of unbalanced cells in a 16S battery setup like this, they would be:
> Unable to reach the 'Overall pack full SOC' = 58.4V due to either cell(s) reaching their full SOC (3.65v) while some of them are far behind. Hence, the BMS will stop charging because of the individual cell overvoltage protection.
> Unable to utilize the full capacity of the 280Ah cells within, the EG4 battery capacity would serve far less than a BMS with optimal active balancer capabilities would.
Without being too judgemental here, its not hard to notice how the host (a brave salesman) tend to make his reviews biased toward EG4's favor. Otherwise, why hasn't he, having so much experience, pointed this out already? I let you, as customers & buyers, take the lead.
But yes, buying a 200Ah setup would be, 'in my opinion' the most feasible way to go when compared with server rack batteries. Imagine that it just takes two of these setups to have around 560Ah, while one would require a tower rack of batteries (with built-in BMS) to keep up with it.😎 Stay charged and don't get sun-tanned.
You should get into electric unicycles! I saw your scooter. EUCs are super fun and efficient and show the true beauty of new batteries and motors. I would recommend the Veteran Lynx for ya.
Hopefully one of the ones that is being sent to you is the Ruixu Lithi2-16 16Kwh looks like it will be a great cost per watt. 😊
Please talk about transfer switch. House to grid or to this system. Also solar panels for this.
I live in a place where I have been without electricity for several days and even weeks to hurricanes, but I still find it difficult to justify spending so much on a battery backup system or even a backup generator. I would be spending thousands on the off chance that I might need it once or twice within 10 years. This makes more sense as an off grid solution though, where power isn't readily available.
Will! Amazing video as always! Based on your review and build of the 2-6000xp with the server rack Life Power batteries(6), I purchased that setup from Signature Solar. Could you please elaborate on how to add 2 of these batteries to that system! Thank you!
282 that's a heavy Phone, well it looks like Samsung Phone, that unit inside looks well built 👌 amazing value for money
