What many historian failed to teach and many people failed to realize is that the true reason of kings waging war is to unite the world and to bring peace.
Even after consolidating his rule over his people and the steppes, this thing that was quickly becoming an empire, needed to conquer and claim more loot to survive. After like a decade of conquering the clans and their neighbors his people got used to all the new goods and resources of the eastern and western world. In many ways this is very similar to most other Imperial Ideologies which just goes to show how material circumstances influence cultural identity. The Romans deified the emperors and believed they had an inherent right to rule the world and later Christianity led them to believe that their Empire was sacred and chosen by God to conquer the entire world, this belief would live on in the Byzantine Empire. The Arab Caliphate would also slowly develop the same ideas that they were chosen by God to conquer the world and spread Islam to all of the world and therefore war against anyone not already Muslim was justified. The Chinese Empire of course also believed that they had the divine Mandate of Heaven which made them the only legitimate rulers of the world and would demand tribute from far flung lands. The Aztecs believed that they had to continue conquering in order to satisfy their gods and anyone who resisted should be sacrificed to their gods. All of the European colonial empires justified their imperialism on the basis of religion saying that they had a divine mission to spread Christianity and would later start to believe in the idea of a semi-holy "Mission to Civilize" which of course meant to conquer and assimilate as much of the world as possible since specifically their culture was the only civilized one and chosen by God based on national myths. These days outright aggressive imperialist ideology which simply asserts that the country has an inherent right to invade is much less popular, but you do see countries often claiming a more secular right to aggressive actions such as the American idea of spreading democracy, which can justify aggression against seemingly any country regardless of how democratic it is or how often the US actually does create democracies, China seeming to re-assert old claims but now based on a more secular idea of China as a destined world power and most recently Russia in Ukraine which comes from an idea of sovereignty over all Slavic people. Imperial ideologies are fairly predictable because they all result from similar needs and similar circumstances. If a country suddenly gains an enormous amount of power that will always lead people to conclude that said country was always destined to do this and the conquests that result from this must be justified so it is claimed as some sort of inherent right of the only legitimate power on Earth. On the surface they might appear very different but they all tend to converge among similar lines even if it might nave a non-imperialist or even anti-imperialist basis, as you could argue was the case for the US and China who both did at first legitimately support the dissolution of other empires.
Ubraines a use puppet though, they hunted pro rusian protestors and burned them in odesa burnings. Victorbruhia nuubland leaked phone calls and the usaes self admitted bio labs. As slav i have more fear coming from a democracy that has a stupid puppet dementia man that controls nukes and military bases around the world, rather than rusia. See ted gunderson to see who actually controls use.
I think Russia in Ukraine comes more from the idea that Russia is the only great nation in the world and can do no wrong, so all it's conquests and crimes are justified. In particular the soviet collapse is seen as an infiltration by foreigners and jews that was illegal and so Russia should be allowed to use military force on all their former colonies.
these imperialism ideologies are the very core that justify their conquest of the world. if history repeats then we are gonna have another country having that sort of imperialism ideologies

Can I just say, Mongols have the coolest names of anyone throughout history: Chinggis, Kublai, Ogedei, Kaidu, and so many more. Idk why I love Mongol names, they just sound badass.
I'm still sad "Marco Polo" was cancelled by Netflix. I know these type of historical shows will change things around to tell a good story, so they're not historically accurate, but it sure was entertaining. Benedict Wong was an intimidating Kublai Khan. It was interesting to see how the Mongols rule and how all these other groups were all under the Khan. How they control the silk road and everything.
Well like the change up in fight sequences ruined that... but to be fair at the end they started Kung fuing the fuck out of it over letting it be a story about the empire and marco polo's exploitd.
The title "Chingis" is quite similar to the title "Dalai" of Dalai Lama. The word Chingis was likely a borrowed word from a Turkic language, which eventually evolved into a modern Mongolian word "Tengis", which means "Sea". Similarly, Dalai Lama's title "Dalai" means "Ocean" in Mongolian, basically conveying the meaning of great/vast.
The Crimean Khans (Giray Dynasty) were descendants of Chinggis Khan. After they swore loyalty to the Ottoman Sultan, they enjoyed autonomy and respect that no other Ottoman vassal could enjoy, probably because of their ancestry. In Ottoman protocol, when they met the Sultan, viziers, foreign diplomats and clergymen had to bow down and kiss his hands or skirts as a sign of loyalty and respect. Even Sultan's own Grandvizier. The exception was the Crimean Khan. When the Crimean Khan arrived at Sultan's court, Sultan would welcome him by standing up from his throne, hugging him and calling him his "brother". This respect continued until the 2nd Siege of Vienna, where Ottomans were kind of betrayed by their Crimean vassals. After Vienna, the Khan was reduced to the level of Grandvizier in protocol. A little fun fact: When Murad IV was in death bed, he had a plan to destroy the entire remaining Ottoman dynasty and leave the throne to Girays, since he viewed his heirs extremely incompetent. He failed and Ibrahim I the Mad, one of the worst sultans in Ottoman history, survived and took power after his brother's death. So, there is an alternate universe somewhere that the Ottoman Empire was reorganized as the Giray Empire after 1640.

That's just not the case. The Russian prince of Ryazan, the first to encounter Batu Khan's invaders, received Mongol embassy exceptionally well and even send his own son as ambassador to Batu's camp with rich gifts. At first Batu praised the princeling and said there's no plan to attack Ryazan but then casually suggested that the princeling should bring his own wife to Batu as a gift too. When the princeling naturally refused, Batu slaughtered him and the entire embassy, laying the Ryazan princedom to ruin next.

1. Because Genghis Khan's ambitions were on the highest level. 2. Because Mongols before Temujin's appearance were weak, small people and wanted to become a united, strong nation. 3. Because other conquerors (Tatars, Merkits, Chinese, Kyrgyz) always attacked Mongol lands and killed many of them. So, Mongols had to take revenge.

Fun fact: I learned it from *ahem* secret someone, he said: mostly it was the other country's desire to enslave Mongolians (We were strong, hardened and useful potential slave force from steppes, that does not kill themselves like Japanese for example, when enslaved and taken. Our belief was that none should suicide no matter what, but fight to live off your best possible life because your/everyone's life is the most valuable thing). So our ideology/belief and our circumstances forced us to start "stop slavery in Asia at least" - kind of conquest. Apparently back in the day slavery was a big thing, and nowadays people does not really consider it that much, when talking about life back in the day. Remember: Khaan is not just some kind of mindless conqueror, they are slaves to their people's will and wellness. Not only Khaan but Mongolians fought for their lost sons and daughters to slavery, to find them or at least find out what happened to them. Mongolia was sort of good breeding ground for slaves, "they" took what was extra and left just enough men and women to reproduce for the next year's/generation's abduction by constant raids, like a human agriculture... There are even stories about Mongolian slaves in FAR ITALY, just think about how far was the slavery web connections. For Mongolians conquering the world was nothing compared to their willingness to find their lost relatives and so on. And that is how Mongolian armies was created, essentially. Because maintaining armies just by enough gold and fortune is not good enough for the longevity of the army, YOU NEED REASONS. And because of Mongol Empire, taking slaves from Asia became to be not an option or at least not an easy option for "westerners and others", soo they just resorted to taking slaves from Africa instead... WHAAAT. Do you ever considered WHY some people (even young generation of Europeans themselves) say that England or some other countries was built by the blood of slaves? So sorry Africans and African-Americans or black Americans, you just kind of became the alternate sacrificial chess piece instead of Asians, if you look at bigger picture of world history... PS: And yes I am a Mongolian. Believe it or not, that is your choice, it is just what I learned.

There was a parallel to what the Mongols did and what the European Empires did in the 17th 18th and 19th Century. Other than themselves, they didn't see other civilisations as fellow human beings They were their to be conquered and exploited.

Temujin did what he had to do, in order to survive, The modern concept of peace and brotherhood didn't exist back then in the dog-eat-dog world of the steppes. if you wanted to survive amongst monsters, you had to become the biggest monster of them all. GK went though unimaginable hell right from childhood, and accidentally found himself as the Alpha Monster (he suffered many humiliating defeats in his rise to power) by the time he reached middle age (40s). It was only after he managed to unite all Mongolia under his banner and became Genghis Khan, that he attainted the invincible tag in his wars with the outside world, simply because his other opponents hailed from far more "civilized kingdoms", and these "refined rulers" were no match for the rabid dogs with blood-lust that emerged out of the misty steppes, and who didn't suffer from any moral / ethical / chivalric compunctions, not to mention GK's charisma, generalship and his briliance as a tactician and war strategist.
I sometimes wonder if his most important skill was to be able to survive defeats, as usually defeats in this kind of environments are not simply humiliating but almost always lethal, yet it seems he always managed to slip through the cracks even when he was relatively weak

In 2019, the Iranian Ismaili Shia leader Aga Khan gave the Kazakh government in exchange for opening a Shia school in Kazakhstan. My acquaintances said that he was in Astana at the event of giving away the books of those historical figures. If I am not mistaken, their copies were given to Tashkent. It is stored in the library named after Alisher Navoi, but cannot be taken out anywhere. Maybe they will be published in the near future. As for the word Mongol, it is only a pronunciation of the Turkic khanate 'Mangu El' ideology among the Turkic peoples. Genghis Khan's red-haired and blue-eyed, Turkic Qiyat tribe has no relation to the Manchurians, the fair-skinned people living in modern Mongolia. This is confirmed by Rashididdin Hamadoni in his works. In addition, Amir Temur's grandson Mirzo Ulugbek in his book "The History of Four Uluses" cites similar information and that Genghis Khan was Turkic. As for K&G, it looks like it needs to re-examine its sources. By the way, that work of Mirzo Ulugbek in Tashkent was copied from the original in Britain.

It's like building a strong foundation for your nation only to realize that your best intentions means the death and subjugation of entire civilizations because to go back to a simple life means your nation will self destruct
@@herbthompson8937 it goes into detail in Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World by Jack Weatherford. It goes from his childhood to the black plague and the end of the Mongol Empire as we know it. Doesn't talk about the more heinous acts of his life. Which I'm like 50/50 on if it was Chingis or his descendents who did the truly horrible stuff. Either way, it's a good read.
"The greatest happiness is to scatter your enemy and drive them before you. To see his cities reduced to ashes. To see those who love him shrouded, and in tears. And to gather to your bosom his wives and daughters." - Genghis.
Stop kidding yourself, trad-cu cks. He did it all for personal ambition and lust for conquest.

I would say the USs is more imperial without the empire
these imperialism ideologies are the very core that justify their conquest of the world. if history repeats then we are gonna have another country having that sort of imperialism ideologies
I don't think the Arabs were slow about getting it in thier head, from what I understand it was pretty much part of thier religion from day one. That and sleeping children.

Oh, right, can't forget Temujin.

Nope. It's just your imagination. It's purely based on bias.

What a twisted way to justify the barbarism of the Mongols

Although the Turks often comprised the bulk of the Mongol army as well as the bulk of armies opposed to the Mongols, throughout the domains of the Mongol Empire there was a diffusion of military technology, which has already bee and also ethnic groups. In addition to the Mongols and Turks, other ethnicities served in the Mongol military machine and found themselves distant from home.

Make a video on Alexander the greats reasons for wanting to conquer the world
Th, I think the reason was, to quote the 1st man to reach the top of the Everest: "Because it was there".

I agree with you. These are the books of Rashiddin Hamadoni and Najmuddin Kubro.
Nope, his portrait was made under his grandson Kublai, Genghis looked like the average mongol.
@@luckprosperity5098Rashid al din never met Genghis Khan and lived around 60 years after his death. And historians have all agreed that Rashid al din works have been misinterpreted. (source Боржигин нэрийн тухайд) In Mongolian, core of the word “Borjigin” is “Buri” which means Wolf. Persians didn’t translate word Borjigin to Persian and wrote in their historical texts as it is. So fairly analogous to the Western belief in 'Divine Right' and eventually absolutism? Our family has ruled for so long now, that surely it must be the provenance of God that we will always rule, and that all beneath us are either our subjects, or our future subjects, and because of this provenance we may do with our subjects as we wish, as we are above reproach. Which, also like the ruling mongol dynasties, did not end well for these families - if not for somewhat differing reasons.
