Holy shit, its Scott and Ichiban making an appearance on MCM!
SEEEEEEEEND IT
What do you guys think of the 5th gen liberty wagon. EJ25, with the same 6 speed?
hi
Are you doing a poster for this build once it is done?
People talk about life/relationship goals. I’m sitting here watching this and realizing these guys have been working together, and maintaining a good friendship, for YEARS. That is pretty damn awesome, especially these days.
Been mates for nearly 20!
@@mightycarmods how'd you guys meet originally? Music production?
@@GetOffMyLog they happened to work together in the music department of a school, they both left one day and saw each others cars they thought were cool, they spoke about it in some old Q&A's,
@@eversoslightly124 yup exactly right
@@mightycarmods og fan here boys ☺️💜
That fade between the car stereo to track was crisp.
You can feel this is genuinely Marty’s best car he’s ever owned, the way he looks at it… pure love lol
I remember when they worked on cars in Marty's mom's driveway. So glad to see the massive massive progress. Your channel and content is incredible
Marty's Mum's driveway can still fit plenty of cars.
Ah boom ching!
Those days were funny as too, doing the blow off valve Na cars hell they did the push bike too hahahaha
I remember working on the concrete to make Marty’s mums driveway.
The civic with the butt juice in the rear hatch and the giant chromies!
Marty has a Mum!
Chasing Midnight, my favourite track by you Moog (and Erin, her voice is amazing), it's a masterpiece, I love it, I love you guys, your videos have seriously helped me during really shit times for over a decade, cheers guys.
was serching for this comment!! chasing midnight is perfect, 100% banger & a classic ❤️🤌👌
Really awesome song! Erin's voice is just perfect!
Life can be a bummer when you're hardstuck silver one! Jk homie 😉😘
@@PERPowns I've been every rank apart from Silver 1 funnily enough, I really want to get it but I don't want to grief lol, I should get back into cs, I miss it, I have around 6.5k hours wasted lmao.
@@Gobbbbb My dude! I only ever got up to LE - LEM but I spent some time in silver after about 4 years away from gaming and it was... something else lol. Had about 4k hours wasted myself :D
moog is the type of friend everyone needs
All those classic MCM tracks definately gave me goosebumps! Takes an old viewer way back...
Super cool to see Scotty. He's an MCM OG for sure!👌🏾
We did MOD MAX there! great fun
yeah this guy is sick
@@mightycarmods He also did the Nitro kit.
@@kizmetmars Lol yeah I think they know.
@@Gobbbbb Sure, they'd know. But, not everyone else might know what other videos to check out. Don't need to gate keep the things we like friend.
Good to see Ichiban back on the channel again
Man no corners cut, everything done right. The first series on the channel I've watched and I'm impressed 👌
Look up the double unicorn build. Not strictly MCM, but mind blowing.
Out of every build they did this one impressed you? Bro they flat 6 swapped a subaru legacy and dropped a turbo in it. You must be new here lol.
@@16BitOG Exactly, he said it's the first one he has watched and he's impressed...
If you wanna go old school they dropped a scooby engine in an old VW beetle, probably about 10 years ago now.
Wow, you got some catching up to do my friend 😂
This episode was kinda nostalgic, getting back to Ichiban, installing a stereo system "like the old days" as mentioned by Marty, stoked for the next episode. You guys keep the good work!
Marty, you should be really proud of how you dive into things like the seats and make them work. Sure it's just mixing and matching parts, but it's also going in blind and using some serious ingenuity. Great work.
Love the Levorg! Brings back memories of the Supergramps series 👌🏻
No joke hey!
Another reason why I like MCM: one episode gives you tons of content. These guys do a month's worth of work in a few days. This is my fav project so far :)
The production that went into this episode is just like a movie!
Epic to hear chasing midnight again - Moog and Erin needed to do another track 😎
Protip: a solder heat gun station is an excellent tool if you want to take apart plastics that may be brittle from age. A quick waffle with the heat gun on the clips gives them a little bit of extra spring back, just enough to remove them. Obviously common sense applies, too much heat = damage. A hot air solder station set at just below medium heat is perfect for most stuff.
Or just use a regular hot air gun since they are more likely to have that
I am just amazed by how far this channel has come. When I began watching MCM they were literally jacking up little shit boxes in front of Mom's house in the driveway. Now? Doing semi custom builds on cars costing 10x's as much as their earlier cars. This is one of the only RUclips channels I have followed for that long. Marty and Moog have not sold out like many have on RUclips and seem very humble and hands on after all these years. All I can say is Congratulations on all your success and Thank You for providing the content that we all love and enjoy.
I can thank these guys for my addiction to cars. Many years ago when I came across a video how to convert old CD drive into car radio and I've been hooked since THANK YOU
I've gotta say, the camera work on top of everything else is just astounding, love it!
Love the Levorg transformation.
When I first started watching MCM I remember thinking that one of the things that makes it work was the fact that Moog is a bit of a newbie but Marty seems to be a bit of a petrol head.
Now it look like Moog is where Marty was back then, and Marty has moved on to a whole new level.
My front seats have been attacked by some rampant rodents, so do us a favour Marty - instead of chucking those old front seats "IN THE BIN", stick a stamp on them and send them to me in the Philippines, so I can stick them "IN THE TIN" and restore some dignity.
Insane see this dream come true, thanks for sharing with the internet! Make me feel happy, is kinda a little part of my dream too! Amazing job guys!! 🤘
I love it when you guys do upgrades in stages, and what a great platform to start with to show whats possible.
I've followed a lot of builds on RUclips. And as an American I know we don't get the levorg. But this is hands down my favorite build ever. Everything about this build is how I could build it. Perfect!✌
Watching these guys install sound system takes me back. Been a fan for more than a decade now. More power to both of you!
I recently went old school and installed a new head unit and speakers, was awesome, good to hear music through good speakers again
This is hilarious! I just dyno tuned my subwoofers last week! It's like we're brothers!
Jafromobile!!
Chasing Midnight has to be my most favourite MCM tune. Takes me right back to the feature film Boso build with the 88s. 🧡
This is 💯 my favorite car ever on the the channel. To make something that cant just be bought is a different level. Excellent work dudes 👏 👍
There's always a heap of "I'm new to this but your videos inspire and motivate."
I am old to this. Been wrenching as a hobbist and once or twice professional for 25 years give or take. These videos still inspire and motivate me. It's a mix of the (what I assume anyway) is a solid relationship between Marty and Moog, making for a great duo that play off each other well. But also the quality of work. The music always fits the action on screen. The camera is always where in needs to be to see what's happening. The important steps of a process are explained in the right amount of detail. But best of all is that the craftsmanship is always on point. There's not much shade tree work being done. Everything is clean and properly put together, and it always ends up with the vehicle looking every bit the quality it would from factory, or near enough as you can get. It's frustrating to watch some of these other car channels that half ass so much. To many people learn from videos like these, and it's nice to see people that care for their work doing their thing.
Thanks for inspiring another generation of gear head fellas. If. You know, you ever read this anyway.
Been loving the Levorg content, it’s bringing back the old school vibes from Marty’s driveway but just on a newer car.
This is amazing to hear Subaru is actually in on the build. Huge props to them for standing up for something cool!
Man! Scott at Ichiban really seems to know his stuff! 🙌🏻 It's so great to see how far you guys have come, this is such a sick build 🤙🏻
From cheap mods as a teen in a driveway to hectic STI swapped nuggets in 2022 you guys have never failed to put out quality content!!!
My God I just love you guys. Everything you do, everything you will do is just pure epic. I'm not saying this to fluff you I'm just stating that you guys do so much for my mental health. Everything you're doing is worth it. You make me laugh, you inspire me, you make me think outside the box, to over come challenges, and the music is incredibly awesome. Not bad for two not mechanics. Absolute legends.
This build is just next level. Everything about it is just done correctly and without half assing. I love watching this car go from stock to a truly custom vehicle
That is so crazy that both vehicles are so identical in so many ways. Awesome video guys!
A good trick to insure you have your speakers wires correct. Take a 9 volt battery and connect it directly to the speaker. If you have + to + the speaker will push up a bit, if you have + to - it will suck in a bit. It does no harm to the speaker! Voltage is what makes the sound anyway. It saved me a few times...
Am i the only one who gets hella nostalgic when they use the old school tunes
Subaru wagons, Ichiban AND Chasing Midnight aka one of my all time favourite songs? What a day!
4:22 “Have you seen these explode lately?” “Yes, they’re still EJ’s, so they’ll explode as usual.” 😅
I can't tell if this is just sarcasm as I too own a EJ... But Scotty replied with "yes they have become a good choice". He didn't mean explode literally. He more meant in popularity.
@@DaveDoes_ - I’ve actually been driving EJ’s for 18 years now (I feel old! ‘03 WRX then ‘10 STi.). Plus 3 years on my EG33. Just thought the choice of words was pretty funny after strapping it down to the dyno. I actually thought he meant “blow up” from too much boost, until he finished his sentence. Plenty of videos on youtube of that!
Still disappointed he didn’t do a run on E85. Typically, that would have put another 50-70hp at the wheels. Glad his plans are to crank it up past the level of Super Gramps, though I understand daily driver reliability. Hence why my STi is mostly stock.
I had a 2018 sti running 215kw atw on 15psi 98fuel.........I was happy with that And never had any issues.... I've owned 3 different wrxs And sti with no issues at all.. vf48.
Man, surely Rays would never have expected the TE37 design would become so revered. Absolutely timeless and look baller on the Levorg.
It's kinda overdone at this point. Maybe less so on social media but 37s were on EVERYTHING and it was suuuuper unoriginal. Almost as bad as RPF1s
@@16BitOG I can appreciate they're not for everyone, but agree to disagree. They're still popular for a reason.
I'm so happy for Marty to be able to mix and match and customize his ride to his specifications. I have the same problem with with purchases wherein I want it to work ECAXTLY to my specifications. So very happy for him. 😊
This series really does hit close to home, given that I've done somewhat of a similar thing with my Sunfire/cavalier build, I've been recording videos of my progress and will submit them to unicorn circuit
When chasing midnight comes on in the montage reminds me of when I was studying in tech school for my mechanics apprenticeship.
Man this is some of the coolest shit on RUclips, some seriously quality content and also just a dream build right there. Making me really want to get my Subie tuned and throw an aftermarket stereo in it...
The production quality of MCM rivals any car show on regular television...hands down. Love watching every episode!
Its incredible just how much is interchangable between the STI Sedan and the Levorg. Surely Subaru is going to make a proper STI Levorg after this series hits their radar
they might just limited edition it
I’m a huge fan of this style of build. I call it OEM+. All the cool bits, but almost looks stock. Great job as always!
The 4k really shines for me personally at 4:20 .. the clarity of both y'all & the background crispness is such a professional touch.
Thx on behalf of all 4k 📺 set owner's!
Would be interested in seeing the engineering documentation process needed to get registered
It just checks that all the STI parts have been installed and installed properly, then register the new engine number and thats about it! Depends on what state you're on but the process is similar.
@@mightycarmods yep where I live nothing would have to be mentioned to insurance, or anything changed in that regard.
Wow guys, I want to say you inspired me to work on my cars. From changing the speakers and head uniy to years later when I had some money to installing intercoolers, downpipes, tuning my own car. It's been great! Like having 2 big brothers show you how to work on your car.
Since Subaru is aware of this build I just want them to know THIS is the Levorg STI that you should have built. Fast, comfortable, impressive.
Please make it happen.
Levorg stis have the same engine as the non sti wrx
I can understand Marty's love and excitement for this whole project, IM IN LOVE WITH IT!!!! I wish I had a way to carry this project out for myself, absolute DREAM.
Need a sticker on it of a Star Trek Borg in a beret so you can call it Le Borg.
Pulled that deep outta the nerd bag didn't you? 😂
@@teamxj987 hahaha yep
That's like the nerdiest dad joke ever 🤣
I approve 👍😁
The only thing it needs right now is a TINT and it will be perfect👏👏👏
Replaced the head unit in my Subaru with a Sony unit, wasn't prepared to pay $800 for the plastic surround. Ended up making a wooden (3mm ply with veneer) surround that was attached to the old plastic. Looks great and the unit fit's in nicely.
Been watching for years now, "Chasing midnight" is my favorite song of Moog's
So cool to here Chasing Midnight in a video again ! Love it. Takes us back a few years back too !
as a subie owner and long time watcher for many years, this series has been up there with the best of MCM!
I love these old tracks so much, they hit that sweet spot of vocals and electronic that just makes me happy.
Dunno. Makes me think they should give that singer her meds cause it surely sounds like she's in excruciating pain. 🥴
@@samteks125 that pretty harsh, might need to go get your ears checked but each to there own.
@@samteks125 also what does meds have to do with pain ? Honestly I’m thinking you might want to just not comment in future as you come across a bigoted idiot who likes to belittle people to make yourself feel like your opinion matters.
LOVE the dip back into some of the older music! Vintage MCM! Grand stuff.
Enjoyed all the Grovel SIT episodes 😎👏
Honestly, the vast wealth of knowledge you both possess and effort you put into your builds is amazing. I could watch you guys tinker about with cars all day and never get bored. I look forward to many many more years of watching you two doing what you clearly love so much. Keep up the good work lads and hello from [not so] sunny South Wales.
Boys, love the build. Tiny finishing touch. Just need to Vinyl wrap the chrome door strips black, then it’s perfect! (Chefs Kiss)
Marty, another 20 years and you’ll be doing upholstery stuff on a table or bench rather than the floor. AMHIK. Congrats on a great build.
The music during the installation clips are mint!😍
Moog your music is bloody beautiful, Marty your La-Vorg is sensational, guys you make a freaking wicked team, and Scotty is great to see him again, awesome video MEN thank 3
Mad props to Moog for the hectic sounds.
I got a quote for my fully built sti from haggarty for all my new mods and the quote was $4400 a month. Great job on the interior guys!! Fantastic job!
The head unit install reminds me of the old MCM days of installing iPads in the dash, good stuff
Thank you guys for continually bringing joy and knowledge to our faceballs! I have been watching for the past 4 or 5 years and watching the two of you interact and have fun with each other has brought a lot of happiness. I actually got my latest car due to your guys and have loved it, it's a white 2016 Golf R. Keep doing exactly what you are as you found a recipe that works and has never disappointed in a single video!
Amazing progress through this build and some absolute bangers for music 💯
can we all just take a sec to appreciate how good the music is
Cant believe I have been watching you guys for 15 years now, and still enjoy the videos! Keep up the good work dudes.
Love moogs mixes, Cars looking great! l love seeing two best friends/brothers work on their pride and joys together
I ve had every version of Sti including v5 and now I want this car...awesome build I love wagons....estates..tourers..thx boys
As a car audio competitor, let me tell you boys some little secrets... low expansion spray foam used for doors and windows in house construction is amazing at shutting up panels that want to resonate. The plastics can get some of that dynamat to quiet them from buzzing and making funky noises as well.
I classify this as a proper build this is mad tbh I don’t think anything on that car hasn’t been modified mad props to you guys for this build
I'm glad Marty loves this car, that's what it's all about. I drove this gen of STI with similar mods and was profoundly underwhelmed. Not just power, but also steering and handling feel. I can't imagine what more weight would feel like. But I'm very pro-wagon and the fact that he enjoys it is the only thing that really matters.
Love going back to the old school mcm tunes
awesome episode chaps, great that it's making power and right for an upgrade.
the highlight for me was the old-school soundtrack backing the mods to the interior, some sweet vibes from your MCM specials.
Perfect gauge cup holder for the GFB Boost Gauge!! Another great episode guys!
I've found that roof flashing works perfectly for sound deadening for around half the price,
Its the same type of tar/bitumen material,
The front aluminium finish is a plain grey with no writing on it but it's going under carpets etc.
I don't know how well this material holds up to heat but for sound deadening it works brilliantly and the sticking power is great especially if you either install it on a nice hot day or just warm it up with a hair dryer or hot air gun. Just thought I'd let people know in case it helps anyone lower the cost a drop on their own builds 👍
That Subaru Levorg looks amazing it goes really fast Well done Marty and Moog 👏👏👏👏👏
nothing like an old school audio install to bring a smile to the dial... so satisfying... and completely legal haha :)
MAAAAAAAAAAAAD! Such a killer ride Marty, super stoked for you mate
I love the attention to detail. Its such a beaty.
its builds like this i find so satisfying
I love playing that song for people that haven't heard it....I have a 3k hcca amp on a hcca dual 2 ohm 15 ........sounds amazing
Amazing that 15 years later you two are doing the same stuff on same cars and having fun doing it.. way to vying it full 360. Love yall ❤️❤️❤️
This car would be worth sooo much to so many Subaru fans. It’s the absolute perfect combination and if I had the money I would absolutely have this over damn near anything else on the road today.
I love the positivity you bring to every video. In America, every car man worth his salt would think it is his obligation to bitch and moan about the DMV and registrations. They would spend an entire half hour complaining about regulations and the government and how it infringes their rights. (Like owning a car is a right and not a privilege). You guys left them great reviews!
As someone who has been an aftermarket fitter for almost 8 years now. It was glorious to see you guys just cut the old speakers out of the housing and smack the new ones in.
I felt the pain of removing the aircon vents from the hazard panel too. Aircon vents mounts are always a pain in the ass.
Congratulations,Marty, on having a Japanese car with the gentleman’s agreement amount of power.
I like it very much!!
Congrats!
It's amazing!
Hugs from Portugal!
Loving the build!
Kind of old skool vibes on this one, enjoyed it a lot.
Still one of the best, consistent, most entertaining and funny car tubers out there. Still going strong after all these years, well done fellas.
Agreed. I've been watching these guys from the start and it's great to see how well the channel is doing and far it has come. An awesome pair of dudes!
