This is just the first round. There will very likely be at least two more major rounds of lay offs, one later this year and the other early next year. Tesla has no production flexibility to adjust to consumer demand dynamics, so all they are can do is cut prices, reduce production, and/or lay people off. Realize, you are dealing with a manufacturing infant that is not battle hardened against recession like legacy auto. Going off yesterdays earnings report, Tesla will need to lay off at least another 20-25% of its total head count. That assuming demand does not fall any further.

Lay offs suck but not really surprising since Tesla has cut prices several times in the last couple of years. Apple, banks, bio-tech to name a few have had lay offs too. The economy is in a death spiral despite what The White House says.

    • @ClickbaitMotorsports

I hope you realize that these "aids" are stimulus packages for the military industrial complex. America gives NOTHING for free. General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, BAE Systems, etc. all need to move products to stay afloat. Just like Tesla, Ford, GM, etc. The US government is good at labeling it nicely...just like "lobbying" are essentially bribes. "Lobbying" sounds much nicer.

Yeah, its not like EVs have their own issues dealing with the 3rd party insurance greed. We can fight oil but the greed will just be coming from somewhere else. At least oil were the ones that built this country from ground up. Its the power companies that are the ones that are sitting vultures to take their place.😉 Gotta be niave to think otherwise.
