I think this movie reminded people that the Spider-Man story at its most basic isn't an action story, it isn't a romance story, it isn't even a comedic story. It's a tragedy. Orphaned Peter Parker gains the powers people could only dream of, his uncle is then killed because of a mistake he made, then to honor his late uncles name uses his powers to do the right thing. To give up his childhood and be the hero the world needs. Hero's don't get what they want, because they have to give up what they want so others can have they want. And it takes a true hero to accept that. And Spider-Man doesn't just accept it, he is that.
