It's not really about the past of the narrator's partner. The song's narrative is: Narrator can't open up and fully trust others. Because of this, they always end up hurting their partners. They hate this about themself, and so this inability to love properly also ends up hurting them too - they had five relationships that failed like this already, and as they watch the same thing happen to their sixth one, they decide to end it, partially because of the pain and partially because they believe that by existing and loving, all they do is hurt others. Their partner's past, I think, is only mentioned either to show that they remain unable to trust even as they get to know them, or that they become less trusting the more they know in a relationship, maybe because they compare themself to previous partners. Or at least that's my thoughts and interpretation!
