Library goals!! You could do navy curtains and burnt orange pillows, they would be complementary colors, both pick up the rug, and I think the dark near the window would balance out the dark of the TV. Or would one clash with the adjacent rooms? Whatever you like best for your home though 😊
So awesome that you guys finally have this! Some fake but realistic plants on top of the book shelf draping down would be so pretty and add a pop of color.
It's coming together so well! I almost like the idea of a dusty purple for the curtains with the taupe pillows. Also, maybe nice to do a sheer curtain under some blackout curtains? That way you could let lots of light in for reading/sad days but have it dark if you do movies or gaming? I'm sure whatever you go with will be great. Can't wait for part 2!
I'm definitely leaning more towards a shirt or light filtering curtain. I just really black out curtains in the space would not be good for my mental health ya know😅 but definitely love the idea of maybe layering curtains!
It looks so good! The cut-off bookshelf idea was genius and looks great, I love the shapes it creates! Navy curtains might be a smart move if you want to block more of the light reflecting on the tv, also my book-hoarding brain says that adding a shelf over the tv/books on top of the bookcases "to distract from the uneven ceiling" is a great excuse to get more books😂 Can't wait to see how the room will turn out, I love your style!
YES! I'm so glad we ended up doing the 2 extra bookcases, it gives us more room for books!! We thought of adding a shelf over top the TV but since we are doing a fake frame TV we want that to be the focus in the middle. BUT who knows we may end up adding more shelves down the line since we are always acquiring new books!
It looks SO good so far!! 👏🏻👏🏻 such a cozy vibe already and I love it! A navy color curtain would be perfect and would go really well with the orange pillows! Can’t wait to see it all finished! ❤
@@CarterSullivan oh yeah no it would most definitely contrast haha 🙈 contrast is generally attractive to the eye, which is why I suggested it but it might not be your style. Can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy chrimbo limbo! 💕✨
It looks amazing so far! Matt really did the damn thing 👏🏻 Excited to see how it looks when you hang the TV and frame it! Personally, I would prefer navy curtains over any other colour. Blue is such a neutral colour and can go with basically any other colour you want to add in the future.
This isnt my house obvi, but if it were-i’d forgo adding a TV at all and just be surrounded by books. If we absolutely needed media in there, i’d add a projector so I could roll up the screen. I have personal beef with how much TVs disrupt design concepts and they don’t come in any real variety outside of small rectangle, big rectangle
I appreciate the feedback! Personally, having a TV in a space doesn't bother me as I'm not a big design person! The whole purpose of this room is to be more of an overall hobby room. I wanted my own space to be able to game in which having a TV is ideal for the consoles of course! We plan on putting a fake frame around it to help a blend in a little bit more. But I do understand that not everyone wants to put a TV in the spaces because it does disrupt the overall aesthetic/design of a space but I'm not really an aesthetic girlie anyways so it doesn't bother me! But I totally could see how it would bother others☺️
STOP IT RIGHT NOW - this is perfection and I am going to very obviously send this video to my boyfriend :D also, obsessed with that ceiling pattern. so cozy and perfect.
such a dream home library! it looks so cozy and like a true comfort place in your home! 😍 Personally, I love the burnt orange pillows - they tie in so nicely with that cute little table ☺
the library is SO cute carter!! i can see this being your favorite new space. personally, i'd consider the burnt orange curtains (not blackout, more light filtering) and maybe even navy pillows or even a good rich green! regardless of what you choose, it'll look phenomenal!
I do really feel like it comes down to colour preference! I am definitely a blue person to begin with, so I think that's why I'm gravitating more towards blue curtains! But I ended up ordering 4 different colours and will try them all out in a video and see which ones work best!!
I definitely think I'm gonna have to go with navy since there's navy in the carpet! But I love me a dark green moment. Just sadly don't know if it would work 🥹
I think deep blue curtains would balance out the room to match the heaviness of the bookshelf wall. It'll give balance by drawing your eye to the curtains instead of just the black TV. It'll move your eyes around the room in interior design terms. I love everything you're doing with the house and I'm so happy for you guys!!
See I need this kind of feedback because I know absolutely nothing about designing a home hahaha. My issue is all the deep blue curtains I like are blackout and I'm trying to keep it nice and bright in here so trying to find some more sheer/light filtering ones that don't break the bank lol!
ooh a prussian blue / dark teal would look good with either cushion imo (think navy might pull too mid century modern with the orange). wallpaper would add to the cosiness too!
Yes, I really want to do a wallpaper wall hopefully sometime down the line but wallpaper is expensive and I really need to be sure on a print before buying because it's such a commitment😅😅
oh definitely - i'm in the same boat rn! looking at making an upholstered canvas pin board kinda thing as an alternative to get some large scale pattern in the room and be sure i love it
If you can get Kohl's orders in Canada, they have a huge selection of curtains online that are very reasonably priced. Either burnt orange or navy would be gorgeous.
Luckily IKEA is my goto shop for curtains since they are pretty inexpensive there so thats the only reason I'm willing to experiment with some fun color!!
definitely rust pillows! and navy curtains would go beautifully with that rust color. also, i definitely think a gallery wall could work on that back wall, so feel free to not shy away from it if you were considering it!
We ended up going for a blanket ladder instead! The space is a lot smaller in person then it comes off on camera, so I think a gallery wall would be too cluttered😅
And if your house is big you can purchase every time a chair with a different color so you could change and mix colors and the result wow would be great I can imagine.
I think the current curtains should stay, and burnt orange pillows, and then you should get a really big print for the wall that is colorful to add a splash of color that ties in with the pillows and rug
I actually ended up deciding to do a blanket ladder on the blank wall just to add some wood and warmth to the space because I'm not a big art person😅 i'm definitely going to utilize the curtains somewhere else in the house because I think they're beautiful but they are literally the same colour as the chair which just drives me bonkers!!
I was reading people's comments as the video was going on and I was like "BuRNt oRangE??" And then I actually saw the pillow at the end and it actually ties in really well. Love it.
@@CarterSullivan been going back and watching your older videos because I've enjoyed the newer ones so much. You're gonna be a big content creator I think! Sending love from South Africa 🇿🇦
We actually considered that, but the room is not very deep. So I think we're gonna go for a blanket ladder! I don't think it's coming across in the video how small the room is 😅 We really don't have much space to work with on that wall without it seeming cluttered!
We plan on putting up elopement photos for sure in the house but probably not the in the library, maybe the dining room! I actually ended up getting a blanket ladder for the empty wall ☺️

that ikea looked like the pinecrest one🤔🤔🤔 Also from ottawa???
yep, I'm Ottawa-ish based!
Lovely! I’d go neutral curtains as they are expensive and if you decide you want to change the accent colour you can still keep the curtains.

@@CarterSullivan oh okay well in that case go for the orange 😂
@@laurajane1900 we actually did navy!! And you if I wanted to do colour it had to be a colour that I liked and could see in the space long term!
