Something you can do, if you don't manage to get a table saw, is clamp a long and hopefully straight board down the length of the board you need to cut. Then butt the side of the jig saw/circular saw against that board as a guide. It still won't be perfect but it will be faster and better than freehand.
Isn't it amazing how quick we think we can build something and then realize how long it really does take. 😂 Your build is going great. Take your time and enjoy. Glad your parents had a nice visit.
Hi Rosie. This channel (well... all channels really) seem a dream for the introverted. You get to share... but at a distance, and you get to control the whole interaction. There can be dangers to this approach, which I believe you are becoming more and more aware of as time goes by. Self awareness and insightful introspection takes one only so far along the path of life. You are gaining hard-won confidence daily... and I suspect long held personal values are evolving, and changing, due this life you are literally building for yourself. You are "proving" yourself. I probably should stop here... but there is something about your channel that is appealing to me - even though it is a one-way street. I find it quite interesting to feel emotionally attached to you (there's some strange responsibility there for you too as the content creator). No other channel in my feed does this... and I think it is because I too have so wanted to leave the outside world and just build my own safe place. It is fascinating to watch you grow... thank you for being secure enough to allow me (us) to watch it happen.
My eyes filled with tears watching Rosie and her mom hiking together. Both my parents have been gone for quite some time now...we never did anything together so enjoyable. It lifted my heart to know such a relationship exists.
Your home is so incredibly beautiful! I look forward to each video, following along with all your projects. Thank you for sharing a bit of your life with us ❤
Rosie I’m so glad that you an your parents had some time hiking in all that beauty near an around an enjoying fruits an veggies from your garden 👍on camera your build on a crooked house your never know it it’s amazing the work an pride you put into everything you touch so from all of us we send you 👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😁😀
Using tape to create a 3D visualisation is genius Rosie. The magazine shelf too. I was waiting for you to cut it or decide to cut it and lay it flat. The 45 degree is going to be so satisfying aesthetically. Way to think outside the box!
In fact when I read the “thank you for watching” at the end of the video I say aloud…. Thank you??!! , you mean we should thank YOU for such a wonderful work you do and the time it adds to record it, edit it and share it with us. THANK YOU ❤❤ .
I'm so amazed at your talent! You've inspired me to do so many things on my own. I planted my first garden after watching you and your mom build yours out last year. I built a catio on the back of my house for the cats. And I think you mentioned you will be building a murphy bed in that room which I will be building in my house soon. So I hope I get to watch you build yours before I have to start mine. Thank you again for filming and doing all that you do as well as sharing it with us!!!!
Looking good again.🙂 just a quick note. The smallest length of timber you should be cutting on that chop saw is 200mm. Nothing smaller. We don’t want accidents! 😊
Stopping to work outside in the wonderful weather was a good use of time. I liked seeing your parents in the background of your last vid. Blessings to you all

I think that everything is looking great. I feel you are much to hard on yourself, since you are creating a beautiful home! I wish you could see how wonderful of a job you are doing, we all think so. You got this girl!!
I love your videos as I'm so inspired by you. You're amazing. Please don't sell yourself short and be proud of yourself & your accomplishments. I live in Georgia in America & you're inspiring people all across the world. Keep up the great work & know you are making a difference in people's lives.God bless! 😊❤
I love your work. I just have to mention that the birch tree lying on the ground has such dense bark that if you don't do anything with it you risk the whole tree rotting. You should either remove the bark or at least make some cuts in it, possibly saw it in the length of firewood so that it can dry from the edges if you are going to use it for that purpose when you have had the chimney repaired. Birch is the best wood for fires in the north, but it is also considered one of the better types of wood for making furniture and objects. Maybe you should ask your neighbor who put down the tree for you - he probably knows better about the conditions where you live than where I get my knowledge from in Norway.
I have often looked at the massive log and wondered when it will get cut up and used. It seems to be in the way as you walk around your property. You mentioned a chain saw at one time. Hopefully someone will donate one for you.
I love watching you persevere, your work and your plans are wonderful and the way you execute each project always puts me in a work mode fixing up my little house...love that you and your mom went on hikes and shared garden work and bounty...love your vlog Rosie, you inspire, even in my semi-old(73) age, keep it up girl...!
It all looks soooo good! When planning out shelving and closets in a room, we often map it all out with tape on walls and floors then make adjustments as needed. The tape helps with visualization and function Sooo clever how you will utilize the ladder!
Grandmother in Texas enjoying your content. It never ceases to amaze me how much in common our humanity shares. I've been renovating a cedar cabin on my own since my husband died unexpectedly six years ago. Your videos inspire me and remind me of my purpose here. Function should always yield to aesthetics. This is how beautiful things exist. Thank you for the reinvigoration.
Thank you so much for this channel, Rosie. I’m a 37 year old mother in the US and I find you so inspiring every day. I recently bought a 100 year old home and you’re videos have helped me be able to see so many possibilities ❤. Please don’t ever stop. God bless
Sorry, but I laughed. You should know by now nothing in an old Swedish cottage is square or flat. Nice job though, dont let perfect symmetry be the enemy of good. You could make up a wood bench that takes your circular saw upside down, as a table saw. Probably lots of ideas on the internet for that, if you do not want to buy or transport one. Veggies looking good!
This is going to look so amazing when u are done ! I added some shelving to my laundry room a couple years ago , it’s the best to have all the space to store things . ❤
Rosie it was so nice seeing you this Sunday morning from Northern California. Great job! Loved the hiking trip with your mum. Lovely veg too. The scenery is beautiful. Wild blueberries so cool and refreshing. See you next week. ❤❤❤
Indeed rustic is okay. This in mind it all dovetails, right ? Picking berries for a break even more appropriate. To me what you do and say always make sense.
I love your vlogs, inspirational & your patience, as for doing this on your own 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. I have noticed your roof has not been done 🤔 I thought this project would have been first , I hope the weather will not effect all your hard work 😔. Xxxx
I love how you use every last bit of wood etc and not being exact..the quirky and not perfect bits are the bits that will make it home and not just a house..thoroughly loving watching you do all of it and learning as you go.. perfection is over rated 🥰
I've personally never used any designed software like you. From my experiance following drawings is all well and good as a starting point. But only as a guide to the overall goal. It's very rare if ever everything works out as planned. Especially with older properties when buildings move out of square and level. I've been working on my house for 5 yrs. 200 yr old building. Nothing is level. I've just made it up as I go along trying to achieve the designed looked... if something comes up which will effect how it would of been done. Had to be changed to something else. Otherwise would create even more work which was not worth the time doing. I would recommend though try working off the ground or floor where possible. It's never good for your back leaning over so much. Making make up folding saw horses so your working off the ground. If you want everything at a same or simular level throughout the house a laser level will be perfect for this. They are not too expensive now a days. Also a tablesaw is a lovely thing to have, but they do take up a lot of room. If you're doing long straight cuts with long lengths of timber even more room is needed. I've personally overcome this with a circular saw and a 2metre spirit level, using that as a straight edge. Clamping that down to a platform. You can get perfect straight cuts. I can understand your frustations when trying to get things done. But it will just drive you made. Doing something else during the day helps break it down and keep your sanity. It's good to see you decide to just go pick berries instead of just always focusing on the build. I hope they was juicy sweet berries.
Rosie are those drones ,easy to manage, very interested for documentation of our 1st property in our easy 60s lol, blessings sweetie your doing such a wonderful ⚛ for yourself
I have been following you from the beginning of your renovation. You have done an amazing job. The gardens came out great and how lucky You are to have your parents come and visit and help you with your dreams. They will be special memorries. can't wait to see library finished.
Rosie you are doing such well thought out plan how you want things to look and I see it looks so you in every room. Your a calming person the way you design. The light wood and just clear coating brings out the wood grain color which most people like.Helps keep it simple clean and bright looking.I love the peace you have and the adventures you bring us on with you . thank you for letting me see Sweden

I love watching you think through things and using the tape as a simulation was genius. I also love it when you’re mom & you are collaborating together. It’s such a warm loving sight. You are very creative and innovative… you’re awesome 😊
The tape was a great idea to help visualize the cabinets and the shelves. I’ll have to try that. I love the greenhouse you and your parents constructed, it has a lot of character. And you’ve already got plants in it, Wow! You are doing an amazing job, thank you for letting us tag along 😊
SO glad you got to go on a hike when your parents were there! I know what a comedy of errors (and tears) it can be when we are trying to do something that is not our everyday work - and worse yet, dealing with an old building when things are crooked and irregular! You are such a trooper, keeping at it in spite of the challenges. You are so inspiring. Your library room is going to be amazing and cozy! May things go much more smmothly from here on in.🤞💝
Be wary of cheap table saws as they are often disappointing with poor fences, poor motors and often very noisy. Cheap tools are seldom worth it. I’ve always been tight on money but never skimp on tools and mine have lasted years and given the best service. A track saw might help, although they are not cheap at all but they are very useful for the type of job you often do. Also a good hand saw would help you rather than that tiny saw you use. These can be bought quite cheaply but you might need to consider getting a plane too. Planes seem like tricky things to the inexperienced but they are worth learning about because they have so many uses. There are so many videos on youtube that can help give you insight into what tools might be useful for your projects. I admire your determination and design skills, plus your sheer persistence when faced with a difficult task. Given your limited tools and experience you are doing a great job, Rosie, and learning a lot as you go. You are a great video maker too. Best of luck.
You know I always watch each session more than once. I sit and knit for a while and then I say to myself that even at 80+ I can still give things a try. You’re my inspiration
You got me a little choked up there at the end. Going to call my mum first thing in the morning and plan out our next get-together 🥰 You're doing so great on your build and I just love following along. After watching a video of yours I always come out feeling happier and more motivated than before 🙏🙏🙏I wholeheartedly appreciate you 💕
My controversial opinion is that books are passé aside from their artistic merits. The collective wisdom of the ignorant masses far exceeds that of any exceptionally brilliant individual. Just gave away all my library of books.
I love how you made those non-essential nails look decorative...and therefore appear to be intentional! I laughed because we DIYers often have to be creative like that! I LOVE your videos. You are amazing and inspiring!
I find it refreshing, Rosie, to see your flubs along the way of lovingly crafting something. So many DIY videos on youtube are curated to make viewers think creating something is easy when it's not. For me, one project is usually fraught with endless trips to the hardware shop to get things I forgot or didn't know I needed. A project rarely comes together smoothly or in one go. Back and forth to the store I go, quickly losing momentum and motivation. I have a fear of any project that requires me to measure and cut anything because I know I will do it wrong at least twice. Thank you for having the confidence and humility to show realistic DIY
The cladding looks great! I always love a library. My recommendation before deciding the height of the bookshelves would be to actually hold up the different sizes of books you have and make sure they would actually fit between these shelves. I've certainly had that problem in the past that I forgot to include the actual thickness of the boards in my calculations and then had to change the distance between them because the books wouldn't fit otherwise. Sweden in the summer is gorgeous - I'm glad you had a chance to go hiking with your parents while they were visiting!
I've no idea what you're talking about at the beginning!!! But, no matter, as I'm happy as always to be carried along in the exciting project. Wonderful, Rosie. And then the peaceful ending. So evocative.
Thank you for this Sunday's video, I've come to like your story, your parents and your quirky home too. I always worry that you'll either starve or freeze to death out here in the Winter, then you send a lovely video, a cup of tea and a biscuit with wool socks. Oh joyeux! Thank you so much for the lovely and educational arc of your life.
Hope someone sponsors you with a table saw, you are really doing a great job with your cabin.👍
At least a good circular saw!
Something you can do, if you don't manage to get a table saw, is clamp a long and hopefully straight board down the length of the board you need to cut. Then butt the side of the jig saw/circular saw against that board as a guide. It still won't be perfect but it will be faster and better than freehand.

She mentioned a Murphy bed as an option but ruled it out because it would make a whole wall unusable for other things.

Hey Rosie just wondered if your happy with the progress you’re making?
Looks pretty sweet to me 🧚♀️

My controversial opinion is that books are passé aside from their artistic merits. The collective wisdom of the ignorant masses far exceeds that of any exceptionally brilliant individual. Just gave away all my library of books.
😻🙏🏼
You're marvellous! Good job!
I love how you made those non-essential nails look decorative...and therefore appear to be intentional! I laughed because we DIYers often have to be creative like that! I LOVE your videos. You are amazing and inspiring!
I think it would only take a month if you worked non it everyday.
❤
You're a great designer!
Your music selections are delightful.
