Im born in 1962 so this song was a part of my childhood,Songs like this you heard all day long,Kids of today can never imagine how it feels to have a Happy Childhood.
My goodness, now you're going WAY back in the time machine! I was around 10 or 11 but I remember this song well. I enjoy hearing these songs from 40-50 years ago.
This song was their biggest hit in 1970. Tony Burrows the lead singer released other songs under different names. "Gimme Dat Ding" (the Pipkins), "My Baby Loves Lovin'" (White Plains), "United We Stand" (Brotherhood of Man) & "Beach Baby" (the First Class).
@@MrTrashcan1 I have a feeling on the Pipkins LP there was a Pipkins version of my Baby Loves Lovin - the mind boggles. I think Tony and Ricky would have got paid the same session fee (Some went for a sales share)
@@MrTrashcan1 three in total (well 2 and a half as one was split with The Sweet) So The Pipkins - Gimme Dat Ding! Columbia - SCX 6418 ( mostly a mix of Hammond/Hazlewood compositions , a few old covers and a lot of Cook/Greenaway compositions , with one with additional words from Burrow and another with credits from (Tony) HIllier, Produced by John Burgess and recorded at AIR Studios. More - one side a Medley and flip a mix of new and covers We Want To Sing Starline (EMI)- SRS 5102
Actually in my area of PA it was out in the spring of 70. Loved it then still still do. The great singer is Tony Burrows from the UK. Had 5 hit records almost in the same time. Beach Baby by First Class, United we Stand (awesome) by Brotherhood of Man he sang with a chick great voice, My Baby Loves Lovin by White Plains. He was lead in most but sang in all. 1970 was another great yr for music.
You're right, this song does have a great, uplifting vibe - and Tony Macaulay, the writer, said that as soon as he wrote it, he knew it would be a No.1. His writing, incidentally, was very influenced by Motown & another great British Motown-influenced song from that year, 1970, is United We Stand by Brotherhood Of Man, as recommended by other commenters here.
This was one I thought I didn't know, but when it started playing I realized I did know it lol. It came out before I was born. But apparently listening to those 70's, 80's, and 90's stations taught me something. If you want something really different listen to Josh Groban, You Lift Me Up. Phenomenal
A Canadian group called Lighthouse had a few hits in Canada in the 70's. You might want to react to Sunny Days or One Fine Morning. (I'm not sure if they were known in the US)
He part group called the flower pot man which was the start of 5 number one hit he one ☝️ in history to have 5 number one hit and write with Greenaway watching all there song the coke songs watching Gang of Four and the undertones
I get totally confused , I think Cook and Greenaway were Flower Pot Men, with Burrows joining with Greenaway for the Pipkins, they were all a bit of a producers revolving door of demos and recordings out 1966-1975. Tony did try for a few solo songs but they didnt sell in great numbers (Edit, Tony was in the Flower Pot Men with John Carter and the other guy with the dodgy barnet that was in BoM ( and First Class ?)
Perfect pop song
I was around... ❤Good times! Thank you!

Except that now it has come to light that Ricky Wolff was the lead singer on My Baby Loves Lovin'. Tony sang backup.
