"Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" was No.1 for 5 weeks and sold 250 000 copies in the UK. It reached the top of the chart in its second week. The United States release was in February 1970 and reached No.5 on the Billboard Hot 100. In Canada, the song reached No.3. Thanks Tasha! For one of the best songs from this time.🙂
Interesting fact about the group name, they called themselves Edison lighthouse after a lighthouse off the coast of Cornwall and Devon called the Eddystone Lighthouse. Tony Burrows achievement of four hits records with four different bands is a feat still not matched to this day btw.
Great song from 70, loved it then still do. Tony Burrows is a great singer now 81. He was the lead singer for 5 groups around the same time with #1 songs. United we Stand by the Brotherhood of Man Tony on lead with a great female singer is my favorite.
This tune has hints of the Monkees and the Partridge Family, too. ❤ Glad you only had rain. [Here on the Delaware coastline we’ve been lucky, too, fortunately]🎉🎉🎉
I thought I was the only one who thought of The Partridge Family when this song was playing! I can definitely hear David Cassidy singing this! He should've done a cover of this song.
Very popular in 70, dug it then still do. Nice upbeat song good tempo. A one hit wonder here not sure in the UK. The lead singer is Tony Burrows was in 4 or 5 bands aroun the same time Actually all were good songs. 1970 was a good yr for music.
Tony Burrows had four top ten songs the first four months of 1970, and hardly anyone has ever heard of him... "Rosemary", "United We Stand", "Gimme Dat Ding" and "My Baby Loves Lovin". He also had a top ten hit as First Class called "Beach Baby", the lyris of which were written by some British guys who thought San Jose was on the California coast!
Hi Tasha, one of so many songs I listened to on am radio. Please don't judge them by todays standards. They would've never thought of making a slick video. A great song that stands the test of time is enough. How many so called hits from today will touch people this way in 40+ years.
I grew up with the 1960's, and groups like Edison Lighthouse, but there is an Australian singer in this era called Frank Ifield, who had a hit with 'I remember you'. I'm an Australian myself, and he uses a bit of yodelling. This was also a hit in the UK. I would like to hear your reaction.
Bises ……
Damn Tasha that's not too bad music not country but I also noticed you all getting a hurricane tonight it's about 1:00 here in the morning in Texas and I just brought up my radar we been lucky this year we dodged the bullet and didn't get one. So hunker down and good luck and try to stay dry
It's a joy, to see your beautiful face smiling and so happy. Love this song. If you know where Rosemary goes, please let me know. Have you heard another UK band, around the same time, Bringing on back the Good Times, by the Love affair. Thank you.
Tony Burrows actually is listed in Guinness Book of World Records for singing lead on 5 'one hit wonders'. When you look for his songs on YT you have trouble finding videos of him because they were mostly studio musicians who recorded the songs but didn't care to tour to promote the songs. Most of the videos are cover bands the record company propped up to promote the songs. One of Tony's biggest hits was a song called Beach Baby. (one 0f my favorites). Which is essentially a quintessential American California Summer beach song, which was written by an English song writing couple, and sung by English studio musicians. 😉
How come there are two band versions of Edison Lighthouse? The black and white video, the other is playing infront of a court house. Who is the real one? Anyway I enjoy watching over and over. I wish I could go back in time , reminds me of my first love named Rosemarie.
You stated that Tony Burrows died but he didn't die....You need to correct that plus you are calling the song Love Grows when the full title is Love Grows where my Rosemary Grows!
Don't know who that is ( not ) singing but it certainly isn't Eddison lighthouse the orginals musicians. the setting looks like the National gallery in trafalgar Sq and must be a bunch assembled for a bit of publicity. Tony Burrows, is the real lead singer there's a clip on RUclips of this from TOTP or something similar. It's in black and white but with Tony singing and Go Go Girls ! dancing just so much better than this fakery

Nice song! Always enjoyed it! Haven’t heard it in years! Thanks Tasha! 😊
Nice blast from the past!
I love this song!
Although it was a little after the flower power era , it for me is the ultimate flower power song and of course an iconic song
Interesting fact about the group name, they called themselves Edison lighthouse after a lighthouse off the coast of Cornwall and Devon called the Eddystone Lighthouse.

Tasha, you have an old soul ! Thank you Tears running down my face! Thank you , again!!🙏😉
🥰
Wow, this took me back to my childhood. I don't think I've heard it since then. Awesome, thanks for the memories.
I was there when this song came around ❤good memories!!! Thank you!!!

This has been one of my favorite songs ever since my older sisters used to play it back in the day. I liked how you were moving once the tune began 🙂
This tune has hints of the Monkees and the Partridge Family, too. ❤ Glad you only had rain. [Here on the Delaware coastline we’ve been lucky, too, fortunately]🎉🎉🎉
Glad to hear ya’ll are safe, this weather has been interesting.

Don’t know who this dude is lip syncing but it’s not Tony Burrows.

Tasha you are so beautiful the way you sway and move to the music ❤️
NOW THERE'S A BLAST FROM THE PAST FOR THIS TEXAS COWBOY THANKS DARLING 👍

OH YEAR BABY
Love that song!!!!

I grew up on that song wow heavent heard that in over 50 something years almost forgot about that song
I found your video because I was searching for this song. I love this song. Glad I found your channel, I did subscribe. You are so sweet and pretty.🥰
Thank you 🙏🏾
Also called Bubble Gum music because it was sweet and mostly the teenage girls liked this at that time.
Nope - this hit was popular with EVERYONE! It's not The Archies!! 😝
Not bubble gum. Ohio express, 1910 fruit gum co. Are bubble gum
Love grows is soft rock
Not flower power song or group.
Edison Lighthouse was a STUDIO band and Tony Burrows was chosen as the lead vocalist for this song...
Tony Burrows is still alive, he sang lead with several bands and had a number of hits...you just would know it was the same guy.
The song was about his baby daughter.
You guys are great your gorgeous and he’s for real about everything luv you guys
Used in film, Something About Mary, with Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz.
Still have my 45...
Cool!😉
Was it on Bell Records?
Check.out My Baby Loves Love by White Plains.
Yes, I did grow up with them, I was 17 at the time the record was released, and it was a massive hit for weeks in the UK.
Beach baby , was another hit by Tony Burrow's, he's still alive at 80 !!!.
Je suis foulie pour la chanson car la parole est plus belle et très romantique. Je pense que la soit absolument parfaite……

Hey Kenneth we got the rain but it missed us. Thank you for the concern it means more than you know ❤️
It's a joy, to see your beautiful face smiling and so happy. Love this song. If you know where Rosemary goes, please let me know. Have you heard another UK band, around the same time,
Bringing on back the Good Times, by the Love affair. Thank you.
Used to great effect in "Shallow Hal" ❤

Aww I was 21 back then ❤❤❤
in this video it is not the actual singer tony burrows sang it on the record
Just a note, the singer of this song is not in the clip. Look for the Top of the Pops clip.
Tasha you make life a lot sweeter.
I find anything suggesting that Tony Burrows has passed away. He is 81 years old and I believe he retired in 2022.
The guy that actually sang was called Tony Burrows, not the chap in the video.
Wow tasha ❤❤❤❤
❤
Yeah, had a cousin Rosemary who adored the song.
Tony Burrows first wrote the songs, and when the songs were likely to be hits he put a group together.
They got a new song called Cold is the Night which is good.
I live by Edison Lighthouse ... Thomas Edison that is .. New Jersey
Classic ❤️
Tony the lead singer has 5 numbers one hits and works with the Beatles
The best 😊
I would just like to say the song is great and so are you 😊
I will tell you this...none of those four guys in the photo...were in the video by Longshot!
I never knew you had your own channel.
This isn’t the guy who sang on the record.
Tony Burrows is still alive. He sang lead, but is not in the video.

Anyway I enjoy watching over and over. I wish I could go back in time , reminds me of my first love named Rosemarie.
"What? No Dancing Troll?"
You stated that Tony Burrows died but he didn't die....You need to correct that plus you are calling the song Love Grows when the full title is Love Grows where my Rosemary Grows!
CLOSE BUT A TOTALLY WRONG DESCRPTION OF BUBBLEGUM MUSIC...I'll re comment from the book but throw this tune in the category
This guy lip, syncing is Andy Locke who was in the band. He lives in Spain now and lead singer Tony Burrows is still alive. 😊
They're not the Edison Lighthouse that recorded the original. These are the (better looking) lot recruited to mime over the original.

Exactly!
Typical of many UK pop songs of this era, the backing orchestra tries to drown out everything else.
Not the right band. Tony Burrows sang lead in the recording...
