I did it on first try using glide bombs. Each base had one cache. I flew high, got GPS, dropped bombs (they have great range and you have 8 of them inside). I was detected and one missile almost got me (it lost speed since I turned away after dropping bombs). I saw some jets taking off also, but I flew back, down through the valley to 3rd base and they never found me again. Last base was just quick pop up, drop and full burner home, that one plane on patrol had no time to react before I was gone. Amazing how many ways there are to do it. Some work, some don't. Some are easy, some are hard. Love it!
Nice approach, appropriate to the mission name ) I've ended up ignoring cruise missiles and picked up all fighter groups with 8 AIM-120 and 4 AIM-9X (had to run to the friendly SAM from the last 3). Then finished up ground targets with glide bombs and guns. Nothing can see you if there is nothing left alive. Different kind of stealth.
An easier way is to use the NAV to find the tents and then fire cruise missiles and 145s at them. Provided you run internals, you will never get close enough to be detected.
@@TheFerretsWheels fair enough. Perhaps they're getting intercepted? There also was a glitch where GPS points from nav wouldn't get the altitude correct.
Man, i did it with 3*Aim 161, searched and located on nav with the given gps coordinates, it was so simple and easy. But still anyways great video buddy ❤
This certainly got me closer. Two of my cruise missiles got shot down, so I had to use an AGM145. Then I got detected but was passing right over the airfield so I was able to gun the planes trying to take off. I used all of my AGM145s because I'm dumb, and my fuel was low, so I thought I could rearm. Nope :/ I'll try again when I have the patience. EDIT: The next time I tried, my three cruise missiles connected. I used my AGM-145s for the weapon caches and the one SAAW. I flew over the airbase on my way home, and I was able to knock out two planes trying to take off but I missed the other and had two follow me back to the FARP. I quicksaved right as I got over the mountain and broke line of sight, but I had to re-attempt the RTB several times because they would lock and fire me as soon as they saw me again. Finally I lucked out and flew past my FARP without getting locked and the boys on the ground took care of the pair. I looped back around and landed successfully. I learned a lot about stealth capabilities from this mission.
Gosh the jamming update makes reverse engineering the location of the radars without being detected near impossible. I had to get within EOTS range to get a GPS coordinate.
Dude, you are awesome. Great tactics and flight controls. You make it look easy because you treat this as a profession. You are The Professional. Smart use of the weapons available and not trying to get in a bar fight with a gang. Nicely Done Brudda. I love your content.
9:05 Also don't forget to turn off the APU to conserve even more fuel unlike here x) Great work and nice video. I remember when I first tried this mission, I was so bad but now after hours and hours of flight (both MP and SP modes) in the F-45, it is by far the best platform when you understand how its stealth works and how to rely more on the data fusion displayed on the TSD + EOTS for locking onto targets directly (even for BVR fights). The optical sensor is a very powerful tool, do not hesitate to abuse this feature imo. It allows one to keep track of an enemy stealth fighter while going defensive since this sensor can look behind and update a target's position accurately or in real time for missiles. And most importantly: without turning on the radar, the EOTS in head tracking mode allows to look around for any potential missile smoke trail and IR signatures from fairly far away and help gathering information without an AWACS or any third party around. Which is also why I now use the targetting pod even with the F/A-26 in this game for A2A scenario. If its radar cannot lock onto something, the TGP can and you know where to focus the beam in the 15° scan angle mode!
7:26 That was awfully close to diving into your own bomb there. Great video. I never considered using cruise missiles to take out the long range radars to stay undetected (longer). Also, I love how little fuel the F45 uses. It almost feels like cheating
I like your use of radio brevity codes, allows me to passively learn by example. Just a small remark though - Angels only refers to the altitude of allies; for non-allies, the correct word is “thousands”. See Tactical Pascale’s videos for more info (he used to be a GCI in real life).
U can see the 3 wepons cashes on the gps if u zoom in really close. on 3 of the gps spots. U in theory can sneak close use only 3 Cruise missals and be fine. I would put 4 or 5 just in the case one gets shot down. Also If ur spoted by the enemy, figthers will chase you even when u go stealth again and u vanish from radar. IDK if that is fair... They even chse you back to your own base to kill you even if that means they all get lit up by ur anti air at your base. Seems kinda stupid to me, that they will die to shoot you down.
Relentless AI is a limitation of the mission I think. The point is to not get detected so if you do get detected you get mercilessly hunted until you die or restart. I have been detected and finished the mission but it is harder
I played this mission last night. I had to target raders with the tgp because the tsd only gave an approximate location. I also couldn't vertically take off like you did. My weight was 1.00
The updates for jamming have changed how they appear on TSD, however the 161 has a fairly big blast radius so as long as your missile hits within about 15 - 20m from target it should destroy the radar. For TWR you need to be over 1.0. Being at 1.0 exact means it could hover in place at best. Having higher than 1 means the thrust is greater than the weight
@@TheFerretsWheelsive found the tsd can only accurately pin the radars at about 20nm, which is pretty close considering you need external pylons to complete the mission. Ive been struggling with this one more since the update.
This is much easier than how I was trying to do it, using glide bombs on the SAM sites and getting (guaranteed) detection from doing so, then having to repeatedly abuse quicksave until each individual incoming missile is defeated and eventually whittle down the enemy fighters... I don't get why it seems like the F45 does not have anti-radiation missiles, and it seems like you HAVE to use cruise missiles to take out SAMs without being detected.
My new tactic is to only take 3 cruise missiles and use the in-built jammer. Start with the southern most unit and work you way North. You can see up to 20 miles with the EoTS and with the jammer on as well that give you enough time to recon each site and fire a cruise missile if the tent is at the site. Then get low, head back to get some distance and move to the next one. As long as you don’t turn too hard and show the belly of your aircraft to the radar you should get through undetected
I did try to get the correct GPS waypoint for the radars with the TSD as I see you did here, however, it never worked for me. The missiles would hit various meters away from the actual target. The only way I could get them is if I got close enough as to get an accurate GPS reading with the EOTS. Only then the missiles would hit. Would you have any advice as to how to go about this? Thank you, and thank you for you awesome content! 🎉
Fly high enough to get a radar signal for the Sams then use the Jammer to jam them. Once you are within 20 miles you should see the target on eots. Lock the cache tent with GPS-S to get a true position the fire cruise missile using that GPS point. Do turn away to hard or you will get spotted. Try to get low, turn around to get distance while out of line of sight, then climb and repeat. 3 cruise missiles and some patience is all you need
@@TheFerretsWheels ? i still dont understand how you get the headset view recorded while spectator view is, i only get spectator view instead of headset.
Hey Ferret, could you make a video going over the details and how to utilize COMMS effectively, especially when you set it to PTT? I've never been able to understand how to request things (i.e: Re-arm, landing/take-off, etc.) properly and have only ever to successfully pull off a legitimate comms relay once.
In OBS settings you can set the screen recording size. Think of it like a canvass size in photoshop. You can record each input you want on an oversize canvass and then crop out the areas you want in editing. If you message me on Discord I can do you a quick example
Great video, but is it possible to spot the caches itself and just shoot those directly using the 161? I think I’ve seen them on the map but I keep getting shot down cuz I suck lol.
There is a seeker head on the 161 so I have had them hit the cache instead of a radar sometimes, but the radars are what will spot you at greater distance so it’s best to target them first to stay hidden
ive noticed to effectively vtol you need a twr of at least 1.04 i just tried this mission at 1.02 and i burnt half my fuel trying to get to an altitude so i don't belly flop into the earth but by then i was already picked up by radar
As soon as the wheels leave the ground start taking tilt off slowly. Some forward movement will help give lift and get you up faster. Should only take about 20 seconds to get going
@@TheFerretsWheels I finally completed the mission DID NOT realize you could've used cruise missiles to take out the radars i just slapped a ton of AGM 145s flew low used what I needed to take everything out jettisoned what I didn't need *incase I missed* and duked it out with 6 aircraft. Make sure thrust to weight ratio (TWR) is higher than 1.0. You can see it in the top left of the loadout panel in the hangar. Also helps turning wheel brakes off so it doesn’t roll over
Jam until you are within 20 miles then use the TGP to get a visual lock. You should see a green bar at the top of the info box in the lower right of the TSD screen as you are trying to get a lock. When the bar is full you have a good firing solution
Any reason why i can get accurate hits? I wait for a little for the sam sites to stop moving but the gps is still always off and the sites don't get destroyed
Since the EW update certain targets can give false signals. There is a box in the lower left of the TSD that gives target info. When you select a target a green line will appear on top of the box. The longer the line, the better the track you have on target and the more accurate you’re shot. Cruise missiles can also get shot down by AAA so the closer you can get before firing the faster it will be travelling and has a better chance of evading defenses
Make sure the TWR is higher than 1.0 in the loadout screen. Make sure wheel brakes are off before you try taking off. Engines at 90° full throttle. F-45 is much slower to react than the AV-42
I launch my cruise missiles and get immediately detected every fucking time. Even from 60+ miles away. And it takes me being at 30 to fucking get a shoot order. What the fuck am I doing wrong???
Hard to say without footage, but if you show too much of the aircraft to a radar source it will still pick you up, especially with external pylons. Make sure you jettison the external pylons once they are empty and use a shallow dive to lose altitude to get behind the mountains
Not really, if you know the munitions well enough. I’m not certain what triggers the shoot command, but the range of a cruise missile is around 50nm, but like all the powered munitions, the higher and faster you are travelling at launch, the further the missile will travel
