I would pull the fine spec leave it on an engine stand in the back of the shop and build something custom for the car so if you ever decide to part ways with the car you can drop the stock motor back in

Motive dvd know a lot more about the rb platform than tommy Eva would plus the time and development Herman from prp have put into the rb platform that’s y prp are developing a cast rb block that is so much stronger than any 24U block
Tommy's right but he's also wrong. Herman cut an N1 block up on Motive and, yes the deck has been beefed up but that doesn't tell the whole story. I was wondering if someone els was thinking this, AU has had the rb engine for decades and have pushed the limit on them since the beginning, regardless if someone thinks the test is flawed the data is there and many rbs have been broken by them too, they know whats up PRP ftw
@@TriniRogue Tommy's a mild-tune resto guy he knows nothing about pushing RBs to their limits. As you mentioned Herman has all the data and has tested thousands of RBs so he has the knowledge to back up what he says. Tommy will never admit he's wrong because he's a salesman. He wants to extract as much money from his clients and RUclips friends as possible before they realise he's talking rubbish.

With the budget you’ve got, I’d be shelving the Nismo engine and building a separate RB26 with the HKS gear.
I believe the build was done a long time ago so any suggestions now are irrelevant unfortunately

agreed, baseically doing that ot a fine spec engine was stupid, just buy a normal 24U block and build the HKS 2.8 on it would be best of both world

Motives and prp's tests were pretty thorough. All the testing equipment measurements and real life testing from the country that builds the highest hp most reliable rb's. Might want to go checkout that video again.
Absolutely they were… yes it was quick for the video but do these clowns really think PRP is going to put out BS info… someone else will test it to debunk if they lied. I kinda hope when they finish their own cast block testing that one never makes it into Tommy’s hands out of pure spite.
Spray the whole thing while the engine is out. Keep the fine spec Nismo block stock, but change the head gasket and head studs. Use another engine to build your HKS 2.8 monster vcam set up. Oh yeah and go single turbo while your at it. Sick car TJ, congrats man! #dreamcar

Mad Respect to you man I love the work and effort your putting in I mean everyone calls me crazy to make a car factory fresh but I thought I was the only one to want to make a car this new and fresh like rolled off the line. Also a small request/suggestion if you could make a detailing video or even some time lapse of you guys cleaning the car, repainting, the dry ice treatment, and other stuff if you u can. MAD Respect. I see a few options! Either build this fine spec engine and have a 1 of 1. Fix the fine spec and sell it, then build another engine that isn't as rare. Fix the fine spec and keep it if you want to go back to stock to sell the car one day! Either way, this is DOPE!

Tommy is very unlikable, can't keep a mechanic, and seems to only do *decent work on big youtuber high-profile customer cars. There are much better GT-R shops in the United States.
You're right about the Fine Spec: it's cool and rare. But in the discussion of just pure performance...they aren't anything special. A 2.8 HKS'd VCAM Nismo Fine Spec would be siiiiiiick. That's something to talk about.

Honestly, all in. It’s a dream car, it’s a forever car. 2.8L HKS Nismo Fine Spec with v-cam sounds like the dream setup to me. As far as repainting it, same deal, dream car, assuming they do a killer job.

It's best to redo everything because on top of the new rebuilt motor, the value in the long run will shoot up with a fresh paint. I'd say go for it.

Time for another R34, keep the Fine Spec engine the way it is. This a piece of Nissan herritage and should not be modified IMHO. Only 200 engines, will make it worth a lot more later.

Tommy is still a scumbag and is wrong about how motivedvd tested the blocks the literally hardened tested and tested wall thickness between cylinders and I tend to believe the people with the fastest gtrs in the world and actually do R&D and create parts

I would definitly do it. Being that its your dream build I would shoot for higher hoursepower numbers so that way if you want more you have it on tap. You can always turn it down for just cruising the streets but I would personally like to see a high reving super responsive single turbo build making some serious jam. Its awd so the more power you make the more fun the car feels below 500whp on an AWD car with good wide sticky tires you can basically dead hook these days. Keep up the great work love where this is going so far

I say keep the Fine SPEC (to bad you can't ship it back to Japan to have it fixed lol), having an already limited edition car with an even more limited edition engine is so flipping cool!
If you're never going to sell the car, build the engine to the max! Make it what you want it to be. Don't worry about "ruining" something that at the end of the day won't matter
I think you should should replace the head gasket, put the fine spec on the shelf for another skyline or keep it as a spare motor. Get a new/used RB motor and do your HKS project.
