I know the b58 engine and know the temps that they get and the limp mode that they get on them. And have had two racks replaced bcs they have failed me. I could say that doing an ls would be the easiest route and the safest. And yes b58, b48, b46 and b38 have had all temps issues and coolant issues and forcing them would not help them. If you want to keep one last time the Supra you should take it to a specialist and do a complete flush on the car. And work the rack but if you are going to use the stock rack ur going to have the same problem over and over and over again.

A Motec standalone would solve all the issues. Papadakis would be a great help or any other Motec certified shop with good experience. Heck, just contact Motec and they might hook you up as a sponsor.
The Motec can communicate with all the car electronics through CAN and keep it happy even if the engine blew up.
No limp modes or freaking out sensors while keeping A/C, headunit, and dash happy. Not to mention all the added benefits of a standalone like logging, adjust tuning on the fly, multiple maps, nitrous, E85/race gas and so on.

How many times did the motor come out to be rebuilt? LS is the simple answer just to be one and done unless you wanna do a coyote swap 😅👀

B58 with aftermarket ecu, go back to a powered steering pump on the belt. the capabilities of the B58 is insane, motor isn't the problem. The electronic rack were not built to withstand this type of abuse from factory. Seen many cars come threw my shop with failed electronic racks do to lower and wheels. Put's more stress on the motor than it's built for.

At the end of the day, you already answered your own question as to which engine you want to go with. " I didn't think I cared as much about competition till I get in moments like this " LS. they are reliable, if they start having issues it's easy to fix them, there is more than enough room for it and if you want to go over 500-600 you could do a supercharger or twin turbo setup. They're easy to work on and they have such ready available parts for them that if it ever comes down to you needing a part from an auto store while at an event you can go get it opposed to the JZ.
I vote LS. less issues, more in stock parts, easy to work on, tons of options to where you can build it just how you want it.
