- Join me on 4 day solo canoe trip in Algonquin Park from July 2017. On this solo canoe trip I travel deep into Algonquin Park's backcountry starting and finishing my trip at Canoe Lake. I spent the first night on Burnt Island Lake, the second night on Big Trout Lake and the last night on McIntosh Lake. This loop is a moderately challenging canoe route in Algonquin Park. I was lucky to see lots of wildlife and caught some nice Lake Trout.

Alec,
Great filming.. excellent video all around! Those were some interesting bear bag hangs. I love the sucked in gunwales on your canoe too. Looking forward to watching more of your videos this morning.
Cheers,
Mark
Hey Mark, I'm Happy to hear you liked the video. I like to get creative with my bear hangs if there isn't a solid tree branch available close by. Thanks for watching!
Thank you, Alec. It was a pleasure to be with you on this trip!
No problem Carl, I'm happy to share my outdoor experiences. Thanks for checking out the video!
The views that you capture is absolutely breathtaking! I love your videos! Thanks so much for putting so much time and respect in all of your videos. I’m so jealous… what a beautiful life you have💚💚
That's very kind of you to say. I'm happiest out in the backcountry on a multiday trip and it's my pleasure to share those experiences with my videos. I appreciate the support, thanks for watching!
When I was a kid you never saw moose in the park. Tons of deer but no moose. Now it seems to be the other way around. It’s nice to see you catching so many fish. Good show. Thanks 🇨🇦👍
It's true over the past few years tripping in Algonquin it's been rare to see deer in the park. This past summer however I encountered more deer than any other summer before. Thanks for watching!
Watched this as I am missing the park. 2020, couldn't cross the border. First year after 36 years of trips there. I am in withdrawal. This is my favorite route.
It's a great route that's for sure. That's too bad, after 36 years of consecutive Algonquin trips it must be weird not being able to visit the park. Hopefully things change by next summer. Thanks for watching!
Your video is *STUNNING* , it's like video magic! Those moose were so beautiful, my fave animal. Thanks for uploading. 💜
Thank you! So happy to hear you enjoyed it. Seeing a moose never gets old.
Beautiful memories, film is very artistic....Love it !
Glad you enjoyed it. It was a great trip with lots of wildlife. Thanks for watching!
So amazing to see a moose that up close and have it just continuing with normal behavior.
It's pretty special and just as amazing every time!
Like your videos. I have fished some of the lakes. Sounds like you and Page are having a great time.
We make a great paddling team and enjoy tripping together. There's lots of beautiful lakes in Algonquin. Thanks for watching my videos!
The visuals on your trip were so nice! Lots of Moose! No Bears, a good trip! :)
Algonquin Park is so beautiful so it makes it pretty easy to get nice visuals. The bears appear at 15:56, there are 2 bear cubs on the left and the mother is in the long grass on the right. The baby bears swim across the creek in front of me. The footage is not the best because I didn't want to get too close and I was shaking with excitement! Thanks for watching!
@@AleconAdventures Oh I didn't see that far I need to go back and do a second viewing! Watching that video again is going to be easy. Relaxing to be in nature like that!
@@AleconAdventures Ok just saw them! Lol, a bit far away, but yes, better safe than sorry! Amazing!
Those are funky shades. Elton John style. 😂🇨🇦👍
😄 The best part about them is that you will never lose them in the forest
What a rewarding trip. Nine, count them @markinthepark, nine mooooose!
Nine moose!!! I was very lucky. Thanks for watching!
Awesome trip Alec! Definitely high on the wildlife experience. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! It was pretty cool to see so many moose and to see the young bear cubs swimming in front of me. Didn't want to get to close!
I was supposed to make my 1st trip to algonquin last year and this was the route I was going to take. Hopefully all goes well and maybe I can get out this September and give it a try. Thanks for the video
I hope so too! It's a great route and September is a great time for canoe tripping. No bugs and fall colours. Thanks for watching!
@@AleconAdventures that's what I'm hoping for!
Awesome videos man, caught myself binge watching after giving some thought into doing my first solo trip.. I have to ask... what kinda shoes are you wearing? I noticed you walk in the water without a care in the world, lol. Do you dry them out at night?
Love the videos. Can’t wait to see this summers adventures. Take care and stay safe buddy!
Hey Ian, really glad to hear you're enjoying my videos! This video was quite a few years ago, I was just wearing an old pair of running shoes. My feet get soaked but I don't mind. The shoes dry a little overnight but most of the time they're still wet in the morning. I almost always enter and exit my canoe by standing in the water so my feet are constantly wet during the day. I bring a pair of light weight camp shoes to change into when I reach camp. Going solo, I am especially cautious and like to wear solid, sturdy foot wear to avoid injuries. More recently I've been wearing a pair of Salmon or Arcteryx hiking shoes.
Should have some good summer adventures coming up soon! Thank you for your support, cheers! 🙂
Nice trip and wow lots of moose and the Cherry on top the Bears.
A trip with that much wildlife definitely doesn't happen very often! I feel like because I was solo, I was very quiet and didn't spook the animals.
Good to see the moose population is healthy in that area! Awesome wildlife footage man! Keep the vids coming!
There's lots of them in the park. I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the videos!
Baby bears too!
They're very cute!
Great vid. So much wildlife. paddling in the bow keeps it more stable for one person too. I have never heard of the canoe company. Where are they out of?.
Hey Mark, ya I got pretty lucky with the wildlife on this trip. Sometimes you see lots and sometimes you see nothing. The company that made my canoe is Langford, they are based out of Dwight, Ontario. I bought this canoe when I was still a kid, probably 20 years ago! Thanks for watching 🙂
Just found your channel and subscribed. Nice photography and narration. Solo trips are the best. Nice opportunities with the wildlife
Thanks for your subscription! Ya, I feel like when going solo you can be much quieter and have better chances at seeing wildlife. Thanks for watching!
Love your videos man. Me and my brother love backcountry canoeing in algonquin park as well. Introducing some buddies to the backcountry with a trip to Magnetawan lake ->Ralp Bice in June. I hope we can catch some trout! You make it look easy.
That is awesome! It's always great introducing first timers to the backcountry and teaching them the basics. That's a beautiful area of the park, lots of lake trout in Ralph Bice. Thanks for following the channel!
Great footage/video, awesome trip, thanks for sharing!
Happy to share, thanks for watching!
Awesome video
Thanks Shaun!
Keep that fishing action up. Is there any good walleye fishing in that park?
I always pack a rod if I can, I love fishing. I far as I know walleye are only found in the Petawawa River System and the lakes that are connected to it. Starting at Cedar lake in the north of Algonquin flowing downstream out the east side of the park. Thanks for watching!
Great content Alec. I'm surprised that I haven't found your channel before now.
Welcome aboard and thanks for watching!
Really enjoyed this. Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
That's a nice little trip in Algonquin Alec, thanks for the video. Saw quite a few moose up there over the years but never saw a black bear, with cubs as a bonus for you! Although you don't want to get between those two, good they were just off-shore. Those lake trout are a beautiful fish with the silver, green and grey markings. Would taste great in a pan too. Did you fry any or were you wanting to avoid the odour at your site?
I didn't keep any on this trip. I normally only eat smaller, silver lake trout. I find they taste the best. I will cook fish at my campsite but I always clean and gut the fish in my canoe or out away from my site. Thanks for watching.
The moose were cool, how close did you get?
I always try to give them their space but if they're not bothered and aren't showing signs of stress I can usually get pretty close but don't like to push it. I also don't like to linger for too long and let them go about their business.
@@AleconAdventures That's awesome!
I lik your videos
Good to hear!
PS nice camera work too
Thanks!
6:39 - 6:42, in the music in the back ground there are lyrics, like f?
I rewatched that section of the video and there was something said in the background, good catch. It wasn't lyrics in the song but someone else on the lake yelling 😒. It's amazing how far sound will travel on a quiet backcountry lake. Unfortunately many campers aren't considerate of others. Thanks for watching!
Please get your gendered language in order!
Thanks for watching!
What’s a gendered language?
@@jcfishing9732 whatever whenever whomever.
Any suggestions for a first time solo trip in 2-3 days for brook trout fishin in algonquin?
Head out in early may shortly after ice out when the trout will be most active. Choose a route with some portaging and be prepared for cold weather/water. Good luck and thanks for watching!
