The very first time I saw him " touch" kdrama, I felt what an amazing actor he is every time he came on screen...I didnt even know about him at that time....now when I know about his tragic story, I feel nothing but respect for him...he is an inspiration for people(gay or not) to keep going on in life and never give up....wishing him more success and happiness and peace in his life...:)
A lot of people are calling him courageous which is true but he shouldn’t have been discriminated against in the first place. People need to do better. I’m happy he survived and is thriving, heartwarming story.
He's a survivor 👑I'm proud of him. I'm sure Seok Choen knows about gay actors in the industry who leave him alone in the fight. I'm happy of him for being busy with his renewed career and not giving up💙👏🏾👏🏾
What amazes and dismays me is that entertainment companies (eg; that train Idols) WANT many artists to behave in a 'gay' way as part of fanservice...Yet, if it then transpires that this is real for them, they can face serious backlash. I'm so glad that this really good actor has been able to get back to a high level of popularity, and I hope it will help future artists to be their true selves without penalties or hate.
@@Hellokitty_391 It's great that famous people (well, anyone other people KNOW!) can be open and not ridiculed for it. Admittedly, it's their private business, but if famous people were free with that info, as you say, it can make others feel good too, and those artists shouldn't then be 'shipped' with the opposite sex. If there was no ridicule or risk of losing one's job or fans, NO-ONE would need to day anything about their sexuality/gender, because it wouldn't matter! (Private but not secret as the quote used of members of a certain famous group!)....No need to say what they do or day privately to one another, but each openly claiming the other as 'mine' should be enough!
Not once in my life have I ever understood, agreed or condoned the comdemnation of anyone for their sexual inclinations, with the exception of mysoginy and pedophilia. Homosexuality has been a sexual orientation since the begining of time. I believe it's way past due that society get 'with the program' instead of 'being programmed'.
I would also like to make a suggestion since "self-harm" was mentioned in the video because it can be triggering for those who can totally relate to such situation. I hope that statements like hotline for mental health services or a statement "if youre a gong through a mental health crisis kindly contact a mental health service provider" should be present at the end of the video. Thank you.
I'm so glad he didn't leave this world. I am a huge fan of any work he does, he's so natural and easy to watch. Keep your chin up young man. Ignore the haters, you can't do much for ignorance. You are absolutely leading the way over there!
He is someone I admire. He remained true to himself through all this, even though he must have been hurting from his parent's rejection. So many people choose to commit suicide, yet he chose to live. God bless you always.
I love that he was able to get his career back and be the icon that he is. I hope more people in the industry find courage to be themselves freely, and that the younger generation be more accepting of them.
Unfortunately, nothing has really changed in SoKor society or industry. Gay ppl be it idols/actors/normal folks who come out still lose their jobs, their opportunities, their families. Especially under the current government that is led by hard line right wing Christians. Society in Korea is so hypocritical, they love the whole fan service/fan shipping culture in KPop but god forbid an idol is actually gay or lesbian or bi and all hell breaks loose over this person. Despicable.
He has such a positive attitude. Anytime I hear him speak, he’s so thoughtful and intelligent. His impact to the gay community in Korea is huge. I hope he lives a happy life. 💕
What a brave incredible man. There is a big lgbtq community in s.k and some are very well known. 🐯🐰 if you know you know. I hope one day they can go public.
That is horrible if any of my children can’t out to me I’d give them a hug n more on I’d love them as I always have NOTHING would ever change blessings to him ❤
i recognized him from an interview he did with Wooyoung, Seonghwa and San from Ateez. Now I can totally understand why he's so inspirational to wooyoung, he's been so strong. wow
it always hurts to hear how people respond to finding out someone is not like them. I'm so glad he was able to tap into his inner strength and come out on the other side. NO ONE should ever be made to feel like they are not worth love and respect just because they are Gay, Bi, Trans, all and everything.
I admire his resilience so much. Korean society and the entertainment industry are brutal. The fact that he's still around, shows how mentally strong is. I'm glad he's back in the spotlight. Sadly not many others, have felt safe enough by him opening the door to come out.
I love him and his jewel box, he's helped me with my eating disorder by showing yummy foods and making me laugh. Knowing he's a survivor keeps me going.
Thank you for a great vid. I heard some of his sharings, but didn't know he went through so much. Indeed, he's such an amazing humanbeing, besides being a successful entrepreneur/celebrity. ❤
I remember him in a couple of dramas and i loved him. I understand why people would do this but still people have to grow and understand that we live 2023 and this is very archaic for this time and age. Hope Koreans start to be more open minded and understand that there is non problem beingn gay. I support you Seok Cheon ☺☺
He is definitely one my hero but your right he's not only one ! But look at what's gone through being his true self ! As and outsider I find South Korea incrediblely hard on those who are different ! I wish him continued success! Are Koreans more open these days when it comes to acknowledging gay Korean celebrities? This is a question for Koreans living in Korea.
✌️we only get one chance at life, make it worth your wile. Eventually you will find your place in this world, stay happy, positive, and be who you were meant to be. Proud you stayed strong 🎉
I love K-dramas and watch as many as possible in America. Every show I've watched when Seok Cheon had a part he enlivened the show with his energy and I loved him. He is funny and unique and that adds to the program immensely. Korean fans are really tough on actors and I am saddened to hear the industry is so close minded. To Seok Cheon: I'm glad you had someone in your life to talk you out of taking a drastic step. I hope life and your career continues to blossom. Love you with all my heart.
He is one of several supporting cast members I view as “validation” for a Kdrama’s quality. Like the others, Seok Cheon is a scene-stealer. His humorous interactions with the other cast members makes the Kdrama so much better. He was great in “Young Lady and Gentleman” and “ Jinxed at First”😂!
Based on this video, not only as a legend but should be considered as a TRAILBLAZING ICON for Korea's LGBTIQ+ community. Thank you Hong Seok Cheon for showing extreme bravery in the face of tremendous challenges and for "breaking a hole in the wall". Mabuhay Hong Seok Cheon. More power to you and your loved-ones.
I’m not surprised that Netizens, and therefore businesses, treat people this way…we all know that every single South Korean that target people are perfect living beings .. if you aren’t sure, yes, that was sarcasm
i remember getting into kpop in 2010 and seeing that in all the variety shows that he was in, even back then, being gay was the butt of the joke. it’s always made me cringe bc (being bi?) i didn’t see it at all as much of a joke. i’m sure he didn’t, either, but it’s what made $$ in sk at the time and maybe even now lol
NO one has the right to judge another human being. You buy records from artists whose music you love...and they are closet gays/lesbians. Would you not like the music anymore???? Records are NOT made in bedrooms. What goes on there IS NOT YOUR business.
People are so hypocritical. They would rather stay in the closet because of social status than live their lives the way they really want. And judge others for coming out.
why would be a conservative country but most of the time they show boy love boy on Korean drama and mostly a gay story if they are very conservative why most of all the KPOP boys are acting gay on Public and on the stage and allowing them
How is it brave? Why is he a survivor? None of that is true. He should never be treated poorly, he should never be told to harm himself, but he should never be told, hey, you deserve a medal because you have given yourself over to unnatural affections and a lifestyle that goes against everything God created you to be. It is your free will to make this decision, and as with everything in life, good or bad, there are consequences. I am sad that South Korea is folding to the Western social depravity of accepting this and other degenerate lifestyle choices.😢 I pray he finds Jesus Christ, not only as his Creator, but also his Savior. Freedom from all sin comes from God alone.
No one is giving him a medal. He is a survivor. Consequences of good or bad choices, would be decided, NOT BY YOU, but by God.
