Love this brother . I think the sklz goal shot is great. For me, hitting into an empty net is a pet hate. Just my personal preference. Goals keepers are the way forward though 🤣 totally agree with cones & cheap balls. Nail on the head there
Hey man, just played against you. Im #90 on the New York Red Bulls 2. Great game from you bro, if we hadn’t lost that bad I would’ve been in a better mood to ask for a picture with you bro lol 🙌🏻
I did not grow up playing football but my son found a love for it at a young age. He is now 12 and over the years I have 'wasted' more money than I care to admit to support his passion and agree with this list (and could add to it). I'm a minimalist at heart and would love to see a video on your essentials (match day, training, recovery, etc). I would also love to hear your opinion on Leg Compression Sleeves as a recovery tool. They are pretty pricey and not something I am prepared to just purchase on a whim.
I actually really like using my compression boots, but they definitely aren't necessary... especially for a 12 year old. I like them pretty much the same as I like my foam roller and I'd put the benefits of them as pretty similar to a foam roller, but a foam roller is $15 and compression boots can be over $1,000.
I love watching your videos matt, since i play the same position it’s really helpful. You’re way taller in person and really chill guy to talk too. I loved watching you play against the New York Red Bulls 2 hopefully i get to see more of your exciting games. You made my day.
Hey Matt… do you train cardio during the season or do you find that with all the training and matches it’s unnecessary? If so could we see your in season cardio routine? Thanks a lot
Typically, no, I don't do anything extra fitness sessions outside of team training during season if I'm regularly playing. But that changes if I go 2+ weeks without playing matches for whatever reason (get benched, red card suspension, etc.) Then I'll do add in a John Terry Cardio or some extra full field sprints at the field to maintain my match fitness.
For the Q&A how did Mimi and you manage your expenses together as a couple? Was it always 50/50? When did you start living together? Was it a smooth transition from your LDR? Was she also working part-time besides studying? Thanks!
Agree with everything except the match ball. Match balls are expensive. They are consumables and need to replenish from time to time. You probably just need to find balls with reasonable quality and always buy the same balls.
I found with the J guards, if you play with cut socks you can just stick them in the sock and then put the sleeve over it and they stay put without any tape.
Every kid on my team wears the smallest shinguards ever, no idea why seems to be some sort of trend . The older guys including myself wear larger ones. Ive worn j-guards for a long time but about ten years ago (after a tibia injury) I bought a pair of diadoras the carbon fiber ones that were made for totti after he broke his leg. Anyway been using them with pre wrap and they are super slim super strong cant even tell they are on and i dont even feel them on.
I play and train with a GPS vest, and let me tell you. It’s not worth it. It wont improve you. It gives you information about stats (distance, topspeed, explosive moves etc.) but it won’t make you better. Yes, you can run a bit more in the next session or game, but you don’t have to own a vest for that. Although I like the positioning map/heatmap, to give you a better view on, how you are positioning in the match. I think it’s a fun tool, but not fully the credits worth
The $40 soccer balls last about 1 to 2 years, so I have no complaints about them. The cheaper balls deflate way too quick. You should have added cheap cleats on here haha! I had some in high school while I was waiting for my nice ones to arrive, and they ripped in the middle of a game.
I feel like as long as balls last it should be fine, plus you'd want more of a variety anyway because unless you're a top top level professional you're going to get the variation
@@lhb873My cheap soccer balls I have is the select numero 10 and diamond as my cheap soccer balls. What about you with the cheaper soccer ball you use.
To be honest I agree I feel like the net with the corners could be more for beginners and the rest of the equipment is not that beneficial cause there is other things you could do and I definitely agree with the balls unfortunately I can’t afford match balls but I try to get the closest thing to them
Hi Matt, I think you’ve talked before about being a forward in your youth. Have you/could you do a video on changing position either happily or reluctantly?
Matt would you suggest purchasing something like normatec leg recovery things. The 3.0’s drop in price with a combo of interest free payments seems like a solid buy. In my 30’s now i feel like i could use them and maybe even when i stop playing soccer (if they last that long) could even help with just day to day getting old stuff / recovery from doing a bit of training??? I know you have used them in a couple of your vids but i think they were team issued. Thanks
I have 5 £18 premier league academy balls. They have aerowsculp and are really nice to hit when training. i only use my £120 match balls when playing a match
Yeah I have 2 select soccer balls numero 10 and Diamond as my training balls but I have 1 match ball it's the 2022 champions league ball the one that got banned.
Hi Matt, I really don't think it's necessary for any items in my opinion. I only need is a soccer ball, a goal, and a few cones for training, team practices, games, tournaments, and much more.
Hey Matt. Im 14 yo and i love football, almost whole summer i train everyday and right now i reached some kind of phase in which im so tired of football and i dont have energy and will to train. I have already been through this before and i just dont know how to stop that feeling. Is that some kind of mental burnout soccer can give you or what? Am i overtraining? And did you ever had that feeling? pls respond Matt.
Regarding great quality balls....Couldnt agree more. As a person with great balls, they are extremely important for every touch. Honestly, Ive got about three top flight Nike balls, and theyre worth every dollar.
Hi Matt , I got a question for you: I didn’t went to soccer training since march because of an Injury and the last 2 months I didn’t went because I’m scared that I won’t be as good as I was and it hurts because I want to go again but something is in my way of going and I really don’t know how to solve this problem…. Maybe u got some tips for me. I would appreciate it very much !❤️ Greetings from Germany
To be honest all you need for football is your foot and a ball, everything else comes after
And a nice wall to bounce the ball off of
Well said
True, this is what people overlook.
And a pair of basic cheap football boots
@@emilyray2246 Unless you play in bear feet
Totally agree with you on the matchballs. Nothing like training/playing with a pro matchball.
This was a very informative session Matt. Thanks!

Hey Matt! About the trackers maybe you should try the “Playermaker”

How to tell if it was a good or bad shot 1:30
Bad shot: ahhhh
Good shot: wooo
all on the money matt. great job, can you do the opposite of this video if you havent already?
Matt: “That stick requires two hands……….. How do I say that?”
Us: We all know what you meant Matt 😏
I agree the stick needs to hands or it won't feel right
Your so funny I love your videos! You are so helpful and just have a great channel. Thanks for everything you do!
when Matt uploads I'm always so happy
Love This Video, We've Also come to the same conclusion as a lot of these items are based on popularity more the usefulness.🤝👌
I found with the J guards, if you play with cut socks you can just stick them in the sock and then put the sleeve over it and they stay put without any tape.
I think even the ball bags can be way too expensive, I just use some trash bags and they work just as well, fits like 4-5 balls.

The massage stick is actually pretty good....also what is the difference from match balls and replica, cheaper balls?
Better alternatives to the vest is playmaker device which you attach it to the boots
Love the video ! Everything you said was on the spot i pretty much purchased everything you did but the corner goal net
Q&A: How is the financial cituation in Offseason, because you don't have a team

can you do 7 things that you recommend us to buys?
Hi Matt, I think you’ve talked before about being a forward in your youth. Have you/could you do a video on changing position either happily or reluctantly?
i have 1 20$ ball, shooting drills into my bush in my backyard cuz i dont have a goal are more of a cardio workout than an actual shooting drill
Keep doing it for us, thanks fro Bangladesh
can you make a video on the football equipment i should get or need to make me a better player?

am I the only one who thinks the 30-40$ Nike strike lower grade balls are really good.
Matt, for those of us who can't afford several ~$150 dollar balls, can you recommend balls that get close for half the price? Thanks
Select numero 10 or any NFHS approved soccer ball will do the trick.
Hey Matt what soccer balls would you recommend?
Loved the video, and the disclaimer lol
Awesome video Matt!! Agree 100%!!!!!!
Can you make a video discussing what it’s like for a day in the life of a pro footballer when they’re sick please?
What are your thoughts on whoop, I’ve heard about a lot of footballers talking about it
I use Fitbit
Try whoop, a recovery and fitness tracker
i don’t think I’ll use a match ball for wall passing drills…
That's when the cheap ball come in handy.

Why not just use g-form shinpads stays in place and a lot of coverage.
I agree except the net I found it useful
What about the products in your thumbnail image like the eyes up goggles and the colored stick?
Do you guys know a good website to find the match grade balls ?
Pro direct soccer

Can you make a video where you rate all the footballboots you have used?
These videos are great
Still trying to improve my game, what would you say to a young baller to impress a coach?
Rather 2 60$ training balls (medium quality) or 1 match ball for 130$?
love the videos!
Thank you for sharing.
I regret some of the goals I bought. I wish I had bought one large goal and two goals half the size.

How about cleats? 🤔
