    Genius! SpaceX Dragon to rescue NASA's Hubble Telescope & ISS from falling to Earth...
    It's been about 30 years since Nasa astronauts saved the Hubble Space Telescope on an immensely daring mission.
    At the time, it was perhaps the most daring mission scientists had conceived of.
    In short, Hubble was launched in 1990 with faulty optics that produced blurred images. Fortunately, however, the space telescope, which orbits Earth, was designed to be physically repaired by astronauts.
    Fast forward to recent years, the legendary space telescope one more time calls for help.
    Genius! SpaceX Dragon to rescue NASA's Hubble Telescope & ISS from falling to Earth...
    To be honest, this concerns Nasa so much since unlike before, the agency is now facing major financial trouble.
    But, all hope is not lost!
    Fortunately, Nasa now has a reliable commercial partner, SpaceX, who promises to save them from rock bottom.
    Discuss everything about this in today's episode of Tech Map.
    Genius! SpaceX Dragon to rescue NASA's Hubble Telescope & ISS from falling to Earth...
    But before we begin, our team extends a warm welcome!
    Don't forget to subscribe to the channel and enable notifications to stay up-to-date with the latest news from SpaceX and the world of space.
    With that in mind, let's jump straight into today's episode!
    Since its launch, the world’s premier visible light space observatory has been sending back to Earth jaw-dropping images for 32 years. It currently orbits about 332 miles or 535 kilometers above Earth, completing one orbit approximately every 95 minutes

    I trust Musk and the SpaceX team. If they say that they can save Hubble with the aid of Isaacman. Think this would be a pivotal part of the public/private cooperative partnership. Nasa shows a need and leverages the innovative abilities of SpaceX/ Musk to find solutions. Isaacman should also be celebrated for offering to use one of his Polaris missions at his expense to save Hubble. Pretty Noble offer. Seen any other folks willing to drop $250 million to aid a space programs?

    England. Hubble is a symbol of American peace and exploration. Something the world does not have much of these days. Please don't let Hubble die like some old piece of junk. I'm sure there are hundreds of scientists pleading to use it. America has lost the Arecibo radio telescope, one of the finest on earth, due to neglect and poor maintenance.

Interfacing control of the 'Quads" should be 'Child's Play" if NASA uses the talents of the engineers and technicians presently being used to keep Hubble alive.

    NASA has 4 copies of the Hubble telescope just sitting there. They are former KH-11 spy satellites and all they have to do to make them operational and usable for looking out at the stars is to replace the mirrors with new ones. They might also replace the computers for faster image processing and maybe update the communications system so that the images come back to Earth faster. The point is, they could do all of that work on the ground and then use a SpaceX bird to put the darn thing in orbit.

    The US has very little if any space program right now without SpaceX. That may change in the next two months or so but even then you have questions of reliability and and sustainability by Blue Origin (and Group) and the BE* engines. Although NASA continues to support development of a "private" space station, SpaceX will launch what is expected to be the worlds first commercial space station in 2025. The new space station, Vast Haven-1, will then be "followed by two spaceflight missions to the new space station". SpaceX says that station will then be connected to a much larger station already under development. If you select a provider other than SpaceX, implementation cost of any program would be many multiple times more than SpaceX. My money is on SpaceX. I believe they will fix the Hubble too, unless an alternative multiple lens system comes along that is better and cheaper. I've seen reports that they could just pickup the Hubble and bring it back in a Starship.

This mirror should still be available as it was stored in case of need. The new telescope would lack the defects of Hubble as originally built and can include up to date instrumentation and support systems. It should be possible to launch using Falcon 9 even if "tricked out" with additional capabilities. Hubble as launched weighed about 11.5 tons, Falcon can lift nearly double that to low earth orbit according to SpaceX figures.

    For rescuing Hubble, SpaceX could create a stripped-down Dragon capsule, no crew, outfitted with reaction wheels and gyros, and send it to dock permanently with Hubble. Dragon would then be used to boost Hubble as needed, and the reaction wheels and gyros on board the Dragon used to point the Hubble for its picture-taking mission.

    • @i-love-space390
      @i-love-space390 Месяц назад +2

      Hubble was not designed for "docking" with other spacecraft. Its hardware was not design for robotic servicing either. It took the dexterity of astronauts to fix it the other times. It also required the stability of a very heavy, stable Space Shuttle with a robotic arm to hold it in place to work on it.

    • @Kr0N05
      @Kr0N05 Месяц назад

      Not sure how easy that would be to actually hookup wiring wise (Communication between Dragon's gyros and the Hubble.), but there is some merit to that idea.

    • @RogerGarrett
      @RogerGarrett Месяц назад +1

      @@Kr0N05 I'd think that there really wouldn't be any need to hook up any wiring or direct communications between Dragon and Hubble. Both would be controlled from ground bases. The only "connection" between the two would be the docking of the Dragon to the Hubble. The Dragon would be instructed to do the pointing of the combined craft to the desired target and Hubble would be instructed to take the images and transmit them to the ground.

      no they can put replacement gear on a separate rocket and get it orbiting in sync with Hubbles orbit, send a second rocket with people and tools. Nothing would be a better demonstration of our ingenuity than that. The precision required for Hubble to function is contained within the Telescope, as are the algorithms and programming. Attaching a massive object like another capsule would not be practical to how Hubble is designed to work and might actually screw it up. The planning for such a mission might have already been done. If you remember what one crew member said to John Grunsfeld as he was leaving the Hubble the last time, he said "get a good look at it, its gonna be a while before you see it again". Makes me wonder what he meant by that at the time.

      The ISS is in orbit around earth at about 250 miles above the surface. The moon is 1000 times further away.

    I think the first thing your reading program needs to learn is how to pronounce "Eee-Veee- A". It is not pronounced like the female name. As to HST, what is needed is an intermediate Docking Module (IDM) carried in the Modified "Trunk." It would alleviate the need for Dragon to dock with HST. Instead, once deployed on orbit the IDM would attach to the aft end of HST. IDM would offer the same steady platform to HST and the repair crew as the Shuttle cargo bay and its RMS offered to HST on repair mission one. IDM would have the support capacity to allow two crewmembers to recharge the LSS on their suits, and provide a "shirtsleeve" environment allowing crew shifts to rest on orbit. You now have a working system to repair HST using a succession of long-duration spacewalks. Having crewmembers translate one at a time from Dragon to the IDM remains something of a sticking point. as it will increase mission risk over a short period, barring one-of-a-kind modifications to the Dragon spacecraft itself. Consideration could be given to launching the heavier Dragon spacecraft and the IDM (Not returnable) to the HST using Falcon Heavy to increase margins on consumables and upmass. Reboost for HST could be provided by a small "IUS" PAM-type solid motor attached to the aft end of the IDM. IDM thrusters would also be used to orient the HST properly prior to IDM jettison and destructive re-entry.

Saying things like "twenty-three November", versus like a human "23rd November" etc.. Also the script comes off as if it were AI generated. I keep coming across videos like this, long flowery sentences and with wishy washy focus. Overly long script to explain a subject: I mean why a 17 minute video to go over this subject? Why didn't you pair it down to be more succinct? Referring to future years such as 2023 when it's already 2024 and this video was published in 2024; when the events clearly never happened or are going to happen.
