This a theory TAS created with savestates and real-time play. It is intended to show what a highly optimized run using only RTA-viable strats would look like. It mostly avoids strats with high risk/low success rate, gets ideal RNG, and takes some safety weapon and armor pickups. It's played on Bizhawk, which has PS1-similar load times that have been tested alongside a PS2 standard disc speed run to be 1m05s slower. -- Watch live at / baronhaynes Игры

Great speedrun. Also for future attempts at 17:53 when screen begins to fade, you may kill Mara Aramov. This will make Lian say failure words " ... Mara needs alive" Which is shorter than standart conversation. It will save you about 3-6 seconds.

@@emanolova Yeah, shooting here makes the scientist at the end of the hallway leave the room and run downstairs. You can see him as a blue dot on the radar as I'm running down the ramp and into the back-room labs. He's the one running in circles around the boxes at 31:19.
5:13 How did you obtain grenades?
If you switch from certain level-unique items (C4, keycard, viral antigen) to a 2-handed weapon during certain animations (a roll, falling off a ledge into a stumble), the game will get confused and equip both at the same time. For some reason, those level-unique items behave like grenades, probably due to their position in the inventory menu.
The way I do it in Destroyed Subway (5:03) is roll, then hold select and press R2 twice to switch from C4 to the M-16 before the roll finishes. The M-16 behaves normally during 3rd person firing, but also throws grenades in 1st person view. I have to use an awkward grip to perform the roll/swap, which I do again in Rhoemer's Base (19:46) to disable the motion sensors without having to go through the fence.
There are other weapon combinations and ways to get grenades in other level chains (like Pharcom Expo Center), but I couldn't make them useful in a speedrun. Hope this helps!
