- 944 S2 N/A Porsche acceleration - Has a gone a bit faster on a longer straight.
About 0.85 miles due to some extra braking room needed for some bigger/heavier German cars.
*Curious how the cars temps are after this i have a 1984 S2 944 and temps climb high after a 40min drive with squirts of speed up to 180kph im curious cause i shift at 5.5k rpm or less so i just want to know if the cars good if its at say 60% up on the temp guage?*
The car doesn’t climb temp wise only very slightly if I’m sitting at red line on the track for a few laps on another car’s bumper without much airflow… it sits about 1/4 even after long sessions at the track otherwise. It shouldn’t go up like that so maybe somethings not right
@@marmitenz5960 yup this is why were registering the car with porsche worldwide and getting the car looked at top to bottom.
Have you changed both thermostats..one on block other on radiator..and look for traces of oil...just in case oil cooler might have leak...it's linked into cooling system if not you can use spic and span to clean out system know a few shops that do it pour in bring up to operating temp flush out refill...oh don't forget to burp system if there's air pockets you'll get a overheating situation
It’s not an s2 if it’s from 1984
@@russellchristopher5657 apparently the S2 started development in laye 83, i also thought its just a S1 but no. Cars in with Porsche as we speak to refurbish everything cars only had one owner beforehand and is extremely well looked after.
I have done 146 in mine a few years back
Not bad.
More of a canyon carver than a speed demon.
You’d need a tuned 951 if you want speed.
100% the cars built and set up to brake well and hold speed round corners
Or a ventelator...trying to recall belive it was 1988...speed was about same as turbo
Max Speed 290 km/h (180 mph) is not fast ?
True but pretty much all the speed you need though
👍👍👍
Was the speed /times recorded by any on track equipment?
@@passolaman6338 yeah I can probably dig up some of the times and actual speed haha
Wow. Long legs too aye❤
Still not as fast as the commodore though!
Is it kilometres per hour, or franklin per feet?
Km/h
so only about 10mph faster than my stock 1987 924S @ 140...
@@ScottRex-xy3jj the S2 keeps pulling close to 260 with a longer straight but yeah both the 924S and S2 are slow cars in a straight line
@@marmitenz5960 Agreed the 924 is a bit lighter and more aerodynamic. I do love driving slow cars fast!
@@ScottRex-xy3jj yeah can’t beat driving a slow/old car flat out on tight road!
All cars that are more than 20 years old are slow comparing to actual ones. In Germany it is impossible to drive a old Porsche (944 or 944s2) on Autobahn. Each minute a young guy is coming from behind and wants to begin a race... "Look, my new rented car is faster than a Porsche..." So it is better to drive a normal car for not to run into problems with this idiots.
Almost as fast as my 951
Almost 😉 she gets up to 260 indicated eventually… although as you know a well set up turbo can go a lot faster than that. Hopefully I’ll borrow a friends turbo for the next event to see the difference… best ive done is 270 indicated in a turbo…
@@marmitenz5960 968s are great! And the 968 clubsports are the
Shiznik Turbo 968 150 kg lighter very few made a few sent to Australia
@@marmitenz5960 Thats insanely fast for ~220 naturally aspirated hp! Love the 944. Wanted to buy one back in 2019 but sadly was a bit too late. Prices went up so much now!
