      No, for a more 'appropiate and explained' argument, the virus destroyed their reproductive organs, since every mutant- I mean- Meta Humans, looks exactly the same, its probably that the virus evolved man and woman into a 'generic muscular dump/genius sadist', take an example from Lily, a grandma nightkin in New Vegas, however she looks as any other nightkin, muscular, blue and a rasp (almost) deep voice.

    • @Jourell1
      @Jourell1 8 лет назад +97

      Well I believe he means that the process of creating a super mutant from humans is problematic. Though there are a few super mutants who are both strong and smart, like the Luitenant, most are dumb brutes. Its not really a problem with the FEV, it is implied that there's some factor in the biology of altered individuals that causes the change, perhaps the amount of radiation in their bodies.
      Theoretically, if the Master had ironed that out then yes, it could potentially have worked. Provided they had enough FEV.

    • @diamondmetal3062
      @diamondmetal3062 7 лет назад +86

      Though in hindsight, I don't see how the Master's plan would fail. Super Mutants are immortal, so if they could breed, overpopulation would be a huge problem. If they were sterile and could simply make more Super Mutants from enslaved Humans, then they could control the population.

It's actually awesome compared that they're known as the "bad-Guys" while the US Government (Enclave) was trying to do the same thing as well while the Chosen One was known as a terrorist to the US.

    This makes me really miss the intelligent Super Mutants of old Fallout. It's a massive subversion of your expectations when you meet one of these monstrous-looking brutes, and you realize they are actually highly intelligent and view their condition as a blessing, "the next advancement in human evolution". Their sense of superiority and zealous belief in The Master's agenda is both highly interesting and frightening, and way more compelling for a villain.
    Then you have someone like Marcus, who is kind and peaceful, but still has no issues with himself being a mutant and honestly believes humanity would be better off turning into mutants, just that he doesn't want to do it forcefully.
    It's a great shame that they have been turned into savage orcs in the Bethesda games, the kind of bad guys who only want to "SMASH HUMAN!" and who literally blow themselves up trying to kill you. Complete betrayal of what made them so great in the old games.

      Fallout 3 has a bunch of intelligent mutants tho, fallout 4 has far less but still. On a side note the lack of intelligent mutants makes sense canonically (this probably being an accident rather than actual thought on Bethesdas part but still). Supermutant intelligence is based on the amount of radiation they were exposed to prior to mutating,thats why they want vault dwellers. However in fallout 3 the supermutants just capture random people and dip them, since the only other possibility would be vault 101 which has been sealed and is surrounded by settlements. All the supermutants in fallout 4 are mutants that left DC and wandered to the Commonwealth (either that or the institute just capturing and transforming random settlers) meaning that most would be quite stupid logically

      A lot of that is nostalgia. The same goes for The Elder Scrolls series. I remember when Morrowind was released. It was my first Elder Scrolls game and it's still my favorite. I remember how the people who had played the previous two games called Morrowind inferior and watered down. And it's been that way ever since...

    I wish Bethesda paid a bit more attention to the Lieutenant or Flip or Marcus and less to Harry. Super mutants are not meant to be stupid brutes. Most of the ones you actually talk to suggest, as Lou claims, that they may actually be unusually intelligent, and Lou is the only one that actually comes across as evil. Adds a lot of depth to them, and makes them come across as tragic at worst and viable as a faction at best.

      Side note; one of the most intelligent conversations from the Fallout 3 mutants: 'hey, me have joke for you, ready? Knock knock.'
      'Who there?'
      '...humans...'
      'Humans who?'
      'Kill, kill all the humans!! Burn them all!!'

    So pet peeve of mine (and spoilers).
    Why is it that The Master just gives up when given evidence that his current... strain, batch, iteration (what have you) of the FEV causes the afflicted to be sterile? There's no argument, no plans to revise, testing to be continued, he's just like "oh, a minor inconvenience, guess I'll just die." Unless I'm missing something where removing the sterilization side effect of the FEV no longer makes it the FEV, there's no reason why The Master just gave up. I bet with more time and research, this "slight problem" (aptly named) could be resolved.
    The Master has (almost) all the time in the world, he has the resources and the manpower to carry out his will of Unity. This "slight problem in the reproductive process" which is "being attended to" is like a radroach under Frank Horrigan's foot. And as stated previously, a minor inconvenience idly waiting to be resolved.

    • @Tony-The-Motherfucking-Tiger

    And since Fallout 3, all mutants are orcs who look like Shrek without his weird ears. Same with ghouls. From rotten people to wrinkled people without noses. New vegas did a little better but cmon compare Marcus in Fallout2 to Marcus in New Vegas. But they still did the job way better than Bugthesda. They should completely remove all Super Mutants from the East Coast and concentrate more on the few Super Mutants from the West Coast. Because they had and still have character. Although there were fools there like Harry and his friends, there were also very intelligent ones like the lieutenant and Marcus. What I'm trying to say is that they can do so much more with the original Super Mutants than with the ones from the East Coast. But for Bugthesda, anything that isn't wearing power armor and isn't Roaring Ad Victoriam is a raider. But this bunch of chimpanzees aren't capable of doing anything good with Fallout anyway! And this insult of a show destroyed the entire West Coast lore!
