The part that touched me and brought tears to my eyes was when the first man explained how New Yorkers changed after 9/11. How everyone no longer kept their distance from other people, but rather started caring about each other and asking how you were doing and if you were okay.

I remember very vividely my 9 11. I am italian, and in that day at that time i Was sustaining my BLS exam (i was medical student) . Suddenly me and the others were shocked by the news that a Plane was just crushed into one tower , so we all run to see the live con and we saw the second plane hit the wtc2.
I was on the other side of the planet but i feel a deep sense of anguish of terror of instability of fear..i feel under my skin the the world would not have been the same ever ever again

Paola Ponticelli i am an American, and was in Spain for one month on an artist’s fellowship. I was 10 days into the experience, and this happened. I had an elementary understanding of Spanish, but nowhere near enough to understand the newscasters. The flight to Spain was so different from my flight back to the states a couple of weeks later, and it has never been the same since. I was the only American at the fellowship program, and I remember a sense of knowing the same thing you felt; things will never be the same again. And I do think this feeling would have been the same had this happened to Italy, had they flown into the symbols of your country, the Colosseum, St. Peter’s, and the Duomo in Florence, or Venice. Or Big Ben, the Tower Bridge and the Houses of Parliament in London. It was the nature of it; it was so surreal to imagine that people would do something, almost, this absurd, this “immature” in a way, on such a scale. It was so very personal, and totally unprecedented, due to the absurdity of the plot, the adherence to this bizarre, almost childish plan that must have occurred over a period of time; that during this time, logic never prevailed. Somehow we are able to deduce and encapsulate so many intellectual concepts, within the space of a feeling. A moment of profound comprehension.

In my humble opinion, usually a miracle comes in the form of a still small voice… an intuitive moment when you pause and hear.. “don’t take the elevator” “ don’t run that way” “time to move faster” “get in the fetal position”
That’s Gods voice directing us to safety. We can choose to listen or not to listen.
You listened. Others didn’t, and others never had the chance. God can’t control anyone, he couldn’t stop the people who flew the planes, he couldn’t force people to run this way or that. But he tries his best to direct us out of danger every single day. We just have to listen.

I wasn’t alive( I was born in 2004) but obviously my parents and 2 older sisters ( aged 11 and 9) were alive. My mom said that they didn’t think the 1st one was a plane. They figured that maybe it was an explosion or something because, how could a plane not see the tower right there. After the 2nd one, they then realized that this wasn’t a mistake and that something serious was going on. They then went to pick up my sisters from school and went home. We live in Jersey, so they saw the smoke from their jobs and they heard thousands of ambulances, police officers and helicopters rushing to NY. It was a tragic day.

Everyone who was alive at this day and in a age of let’s say around 10 and up exactly remembers where he / she was and what he / she was doing when it happened.
I personally came home from my job training to be a kindergarten teacher, quite tired and happy to be finally at home. (It was early afternoon in my time zone). My dad sat on the long sofa - he had the early shift. My mom on the short one - it was her day off. She said very seriously and concerned “Something happened”. I glanced to the TV and saw the burning towers. The second airplane hit just a few minutes ago. For a brief second I thought it was a kind of stupid catastrophe movie. When I realised it wasn’t, I put my backpack on the side, took of my shoes and my jacket and sat down on the floor where I was. We watched silently. No one said a word until my brother came back home as well (around 5:30pm our time). At this time my father spoke to him. “Two planes hit the World Trade Center. The towers collapsed. Another one hit the Pentagon in DC.“ My brother stood there a few minutes, watched silently as well until his phone rang. He answered it, listened for a few moments, said „I know. I see it.“ and he left the living room. Usually I wear a combination of different colours. Blue jeans, black shirt or something similar. At this day it was a black shirt, black jeans, black chucks and black socks. I was late in the morning and took the first shirt of my closet I could grab.

I heard one survivors story say that the police helicopters overhead could tell it was about to fall so they radioed for all police officers to evacuate as soon as possible. I don’t know how long the gap was before the firefighters sent out the evacuation order but their was at least a few minutes before the firefighters were informed of the eminent collapse on their frequency. The only reason the mayday was sent out was because one of the lead firemen overheard a transmission from a police radio, near where he was setting up a command post, calling for all officers to evacuate.
Even with a warning of a possible collapse I don’t think anyone down there that day had any idea that a complete collapse was even possible. I think most thought it would fall off in big pieces over a couple hour span at worst. When the trade center was designed it was designed for a pancake collapse. The engineer that designed it had fears that if the building ever had any major support issues it would tip over to the left or right and have a significantly higher death toll than if it were to just drop straight down.

    • @Phaaze86
      @Phaaze86 2 года назад +3

There were reports of the fire floors sagging pulling the exterior inward. The foam insulation that protected the steel was destroyed when the planes collided with the towers. Nobody thought a full collapse of a steel structure was imminent. Partial yes but not the way that it did. EMS division chief John Peruggia received a warning from an official, who he believed to be an engineer, that the buildings were leaning and severely compromised. He got that message to another command post just seconds before the tower came down.

I was even thinking maybe have some wheelchairs too in all the high-risers too so that all tha firefighters can get all tha handicap people who can't walk a safe ride out of wherever there's a fire. It might even work on regular people too. Yes you guys that would really help all tha firefighters out. Please start to have emergency wheelchairs there too. You people need to realize that parachutes can not and will not work in compact cities, you would end up hitting other buildings and roofs with hard impact. Also they are not up high enough for impact to slow you would still go down just as fast. There's a reason why you have to go way far up in a plane to air dive.

The terrorists chose Satan.

@@Caramel1806 Caramel1806 "No one has all the answers as to why things happen the way they do..." Well I'd surly agree with that, but theists (believers in a god/s) are the ones who claim to in Fact "know that their god exists..." 🙄😕😒 And yes I did say "Survives" because it would be awfully hard to thank your god is one didn't survive, right? And then you Claim/Assert that "god" was responsible for their survival, yet can't demonstrate your claims/assertions..? 😕🤨 I mean can you demonstrate your god's existence? does he/it manifest in Any way, shape, form, within Reality, because if so then this should be testable..? If Yes, please demonstrate, if Not, then your god must be Space-less, Timeless, Formless, immaterial, correct? In which case, your god exists in No location, No timer, with No form, and has No detectable qualities, does this sound accurate? If so, I would probably Agree... But if you can't demonstrate something, then you surly Don't know it, and shouldn't say that you do... Then you say, "The people who died that day, with the exception of the terrorists, served the purpose that God put them here for." Two questions... 1. Why did you exclude the terrorists, did your god Not create them? 2. What is the purpose of a newborn baby's mother or father dying in such a way, having to grow up never having the opportunity of knowing them, or a baby being born into this world with a terminal disease, what's their propose? and then you ended your comment by invoking "Satan."
Question: How often do you (assuming you are Christian) think about or worry about the Islam Hell? Do you know what it says in the Quran about those who die w/o accepting Allah as the "One True god ?" Luckily for you, their is No more evidence/reason to believe in it's existence that yours, and if when the thought of yourself being "happy" while looking down at the billions of damned "souls" burning in a lake of fire, well then you just might be as big of an immoral monster as the one who created it...
Personally I am a Truth seeker and my atheism is nothing but a side effect through that endeavor. I am Not saying that a god/s Do Not exist, which I would be happy to make an argument for if you'd like, especially a "Personal" god like Jesus/Allah, but theists claim that a god in fact Does exist and I simply say that I'm Not convinced, based on the Lack of Any Evidence/Reason... and choose to withhold belief until further Evidence/Reason can me provided and or demonstrated, as any Rational thinking person should...
To me it seems that "God" is not an explanation., It is a placeholder for those lacking the courage, or the intellectual honesty to say "I Don't Know." Near the core of religious experience is something remarkably resistant to Rational inquiry...
I find that people often follow a religion Not because of "Personal Revelation or Transcendent Truth" but because the religion is culturally familiar, childhood Indoctrination, linked to where and whom one is raised, and it just so happens that statistically, in almost every case, people Always adopt the exact Same religion/god as their parents, oh and it just so happens to be the Correct god... 🤔😒😞 I think that it is time we admitted that Faith is nothing more than a cop out, the license religious people give one another to keep believing when Reasons fail. I mean, if Faith is one's reason for believing something, one could use Faith to justify Anything they wanted to believe, and sadly, many don't see the problem with that.
Truth is available to those who's curiosity exceeds they're desire to prove themselves right, who's passion for Truth is Bigger than their fears, who have the courage to Question whatever they have been taught... Unanswered questions are far less dangerous than unquestioned answers.

Think for a moment, if you were born in a different region of the world and your guardians taught you Different beliefs than you hold now, would you still hold the same beliefs as you do today? Most likely Not, so wouldn't that mean your beliefs are largely based on your region and upbringing? All we can do is be faithful and make the most of the time we have so we can enjoy heaven in the afterlife. This life is temporary, the afterlife is eternity. Evil created the tragedy. Be good in the face of evil.

You can smell the dead bodies for months in lower Manhattan. It was horrible. You couldn’t avoid the smell.

And you can even have a helicopter that has an scaffolding connected to it that way it can rescue all tha people. In all the high risers buildings. Then we can call it a rescue NYPD FDNY helicopters.
You should put glowsticks in the rescue first aid kits too and flashlights too.

The smoke stopped helicopters from picking people up. It wasn't safe.

@@runningfromabear8354 Access to the roof was also locked, and too much antennas/equipment prohibited any rescues. Not to mention the no fly zone that was quickly put in place. Had it have been 2+ hours, things like this could have happened, sadly there was not enough time to comprehend what was happening let alone act on it.

A man had climbed antenna. I heard it on Manhattan dispatch audiotape . It must have been horrible being in the helicopters and not able to help.

Watch the Naudet brothers documentary called 9/11. It’s here on RUclips. They filmed in the lobby of the North tower. You can see the broken windows for yourself. It also has footage of both planes hitting.
