There is a reason why internal temps are taken during most of the evolution of buds. It's because they're driving you to hypothermia on purpose - they WILL get you there one way or another. In that respect, no different than getting kicked in the nuts. Most of them will be able to handle the initial cold - but are you going sit in that cold shower until you're about to die? If not- then you're wasting your time. Yeah, you'll be ready for the "shock" of the cold - but is that what you think the purpose of those evolutions are? You're not just cold in the surf, you're cold ALWAYS even out of the water.

My Platoon had a pull up bar in front of our office and there is alot of time when you don't have shit to do. We filled that time with standing in front of a pull up bar doing push-ups and pull ups all day long till it got stupid. We did morning PT went to breakfast and just went to the pull up bar and did that shit all day long. PT in the Infantry is constant. In BUDS it's like that times ten. It's a test to screen out the best of the best. Of course you can prepare, but they would much rather have someone go through buds and come out without any prior preparations than someone who conditioned themself for the coming tests because the person who prepared for it may have failed it without prior preparation. They want people that can endure shock like no other. Seals are human but they're a special breed found with only brutal rigorous tests. Just remember that if you're thinking about becoming a seal and don't know how much preparation you want before SEAL training, it's all up to you. You could fully prepare and pass or you could go in without armor and see what you are made of. I'm not in the military nor have I ever been and ever be. This is purely speculation.
