makes you wonder how many times they say "cut that" and actually do cut it. do they really get even more out of pocket than what they let us see. chilling to think we may have only seen a fraction of angela's chaos
The first story when Shayne starts taking about reactive sexuality, accelerators vs brakes, and saying “you don’t have a low sex drive, your brake is just on” has changed my brain. Thats so insightful and incredibly helpful for me personally. I really love that Reddit stories is both funny goofy time and genuine analysis and introspection. As an autistic person, these conversations have helped me to understand so much about myself and about interpersonal interactions. Gonna go sit with this new knowledge for a little while and let it marinate on my brain.
I'm curious if this book touches on asexuality at all because, as one myself, a lot of people struggle with understanding what that means or how it differs between individuals as it's a spectrum. Like, I very much have a sex drive but I'm not attracted to any gender or sex and have no desire to physically be with another person. But other asexuals find people attractive but genuinely have no sex drive, some have very specific "accelerates" like Sapiosexuals only getting turned on by intelligent people. It can be hard for a lot of allosexuals to understand the nuance and how to properly communicate with the acespec person.
@@RiveroftheWither Come As You Are acknowledges asexuality but isn't really aimed at asexual people. If you're sex favorable or sex neutral, I think you could still get a lot out of the book (I did). And I feel like Emily Nagoski has talked more about asexuality elsewhere, maybe in her newsletter, but I don't remember where exactly.
This Spommy content was *AMAZING* they were riffing so well with Shayne. Dude, they have to be put in more videos together for real. This was one of my favorite Reddit Episodes in a while.
I thought you were calling Spencer "mommy" for a minute and I had to take some time to realise that's definitely NOT what you were saying, and self reflect on why I would even think such a thing...
My husband had the leg lengthening surgery, but not to be taller. He was in the military and was shot through the femur (thigh bone) and lost 45 mm (about an 1.5 inches of bone. He went years with an uneven gait which led to hip, knee, and back problems. We decided to do the lengthening to help alleviate those. It took 45 days to lengthen the bone because you can only separate the bone 1 mm a day. Bone will not jump a gap so you have to separate it slowly. Then another 2 months to heal completely. He still has some back and knee pain, but it’s much better after making his legs even again.
I have a coworker who's son had a leg thing since he was born, had this procedure. It has legit medical value, but it's also very funny to imagine some dude just doing it because they want to be taller lol
My favorite thing about Spencer and why he's my favorite is because he makes the wildest jokes that people just silent laugh at and have physical reactions to. Mostly every joke he makes does. He's my absolute favorite and I also need more of these three omg!
"My family poops big." belongs in the pantheon of iconic opening lines alongside, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times" and “Call me Ishmael.”
"My family poops big." is in the same level as “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.” in terms of famous opening lines
@mortifer6390 I don't really want to be calling people out, and it does boil down to my opinion. However, one of the reddit story episodes is very controversial. The trio on that one has literally NEVER reappeared 2 of 3 only.
Happy birthday Shayne Happy belated birthday Tommy Happy day Spencer edit: Yeah this episode is an instant rewatch for me, absolutely great stories and vibes.
Our version of the "poop knife" were popsicle sticks. We had a bathroom drawer full of them (mom got them from the craft store) and we'd grab one whenever needed. The pro was you could throw them away and not have to wash or re-use. The last five mins of this episode are GOLD. "Tommy's silence was deafening", "He needed serious mental and physical help." 1:00:38
My cousin had a leg cage for lengthening for years when she was in highschool because she was born with one short leg (I believe it also had a deformity) and absolutely needed it for her quality of life. I can't imagine volunteering to do it for both legs.
Right, I can see it being a really helpful tool for mobility issues like that (and even then, I can totally see many people using prostetics instead of a big surgery). To do it for "vanity reasons" feels so extreme that the level of mental health issues worries me. Most "cosmetic" surgeries are not that invasive, I think. Unless it's something like gender confirmation surgeries involving nerves and function. But even that feels less invasive and has research for the medical positives and quality of life. But the leg one feels like the risks are soooooo very high to every day function for something that changes so little. I don't know... it worries me.
I know a guy who’s brother was in a similar situation, one leg was shorter than the other (not significantly so, it’s not like one was half the size, but it affected his quality of life). When I was in primary school, around age 11, I saw him wearing a leg brace for the first time (he may have worn it longer but I never saw it). I’m not nearly 18, he still wears the leg brace. Why would you voluntarily do that to yourself for vanity?
@@hernameispekka_Rebeccamost cosmetic surgeries are also reversible to a degree. Like you can get implants removed, most if not all injections need to be maintained. But the surgeries where it changes your skeleton like having bone to change your jawline for cosmetics at least just requires an incision and then at most a jaw brace for a few months. That's the most extreme one I can think of and even that is way less than leg or spinal lengthening procedures and recovery
Yeah, my mom had one leg that was very slightly shorter than the other for most of her life (a result of a hip injury she'd had as a kid). The difference between the length of her legs was so small, you couldn't see it when you looked at her and it didn't affect the way she walked in any way that you'd notice. But that very tiny difference caused her to balance herself differently than most people when she walked, and that resulted in the knee on that side taking extra wear and tear until it finally needed to be replaced when she got older. The different distribution of balance also affected her spine in a way that caused a lot of problems as well and also resulted in surgery. Tbh, she probably could've used the leg-lengthening surgery (especially since the knee replacement ended up being just as traumatic and time-consuming, thanks to the hospital introducing MRSA into the area and having to take the artificial knee out twice to battle it; at one point, she had no knee and a picc line with antibiotics running into her chest for ~6 months). So, for QoL stuff and preventing possible problems down the road, I can absolutely see how leg-lengthening surgery would be worth it. Doing it because you're insecure about being short, though, is just wild. My height is decidedly average and I've dated women who are both taller and shorter. If you truly like each other, it doesn't matter and no one cares. If the person does care that much about your height, then they're not the person for you.
The notion of a flawless marriage or relationship is a myth. There's no set formula for success; what works for one couple may not work for another. Yet, I've discovered that there's always a way forward, even in the most challenging times. Five years ago, my wife and I encountered significant hurdles in our marriage that nearly led to divorce. Despite the adversity, we managed to weather the storm and emerge from it with our bond renewed and revitalised
It's always difficult to let someone you love go, but in my case I had the help of a spiritual adviser who saved my marriage from collapsing her name is shelly renee white
Shayne, it actually meaans SO MUCH to me that you pointed out how illogical the animal death story was. By myself, I would've been too caught up in my own anxieties and emotions to condiser the logical points you made. Hearing a story that's definitely fake and then having you immediately point out the fakeness? It's better for my mental health than even skipping over that story would have been! ❤
I immediately was like "wouldn't it only foam?" and started googling. Apparently, you wouldn't be able to consume so much vinegar and baking soda for it to explode. You would "only" throw up. Tbf, that's the case for humans, for hamsters it might be different, but I doubt that a hamster would be able to consume that much as well.
Also the hamster would have to eat a lot of baking soda and vinegar, both of which are usually unpleasant but it's a hamster so I can see it happening, the baking soda would have to not dissolve completely in the stomach acid, and the vinegar would have to be not completely diluted by saliva and other internal juices. Then the hamster would have to not be stinking up a storm with it releasing gas. Obviously wouldn't expand either. But that story is kinda funny as hell.
It's probably a good exercise to assume all reddit stories are fake in some way (I deeply empathize with how you feel btw, im like that too). The thing is, most stories will have missing information, some parts of it deeply exaggerated or straight up faked for the sake of drama. I'd argue the people telling the stories are mostly creative writers, or unreliable narrators and the rare poor soul that actually had that happen to them. Hope that helps!
The way Shayne said “my wife-“ and started giggling and Tommy went “shut up!” I fucking love this trio. I’m gonna need more Tommy, Spencer, and Shayne together in stuff 😂❤
I don't think anyone is the asshole in the first story because it fully aligns with what they've set before. The boyfriend set the precedent of "it's when you also want it", and she wanted it one night. He wasn't in the mood/situation to want it, and she lost interest in it. The story never said that the boyfriend was upset, so it shows that he respect her right to withdraw that desire. It's just a certain point in time in a relationship.
It mainly just feels like she might just feel insecure in the relationship due to her not being as interested in that form of intimacy. The OP mentions that they've been together since they were both 20, so there's a chance that she might not have been in many relationships, and she might feel a form of FOMO or be feeling as if she's letting him down. Even the boundary of sex happening when she was 100% into it was imposed by the boyfriend, and the OP chose to make a compromise that. Now that a condition isn't being met (she is no longer in the mood by then), she might feel regret in rescinding her desire. Since OP is posting about it in the first place, this is probably a newer experience for them, so I feel that it's just jitters from unfamiliarity.
i did an essay about the limbs lengthening and its not the bones that are the problem. Bones can easily fix themselves and elongate with the surgery. Its the muscles that pose a big problem. They regenerate incredibly slow and that's where the complications arise. From what I've researched, the north American procedures seem to be doing well but it takes a Loong time to be fully able to move around. Like a good solid 2 years to be able to run again. Bigger issue for me is that there isn't enough time allotted to test to see how far along the surgery could affect you in later years.
I spent too long a while ago researching it after watching another video talking about it.. my legs were cramping with sympathy pain. So not worth it, maybe one day but the muscle thing made me flinch 😫😫😫😫 Shayne is totally correct, the right person won't care.
oof... Thanks for sharing the info. Insecurities are a real deal, your brain is literally insisting EVERYBODY ELSE cares and pays attention when in fact NOBODY else but you yourself actually does. And in fact a lot or insecurities, especially when channelled in toxic gender expectations and social roles kinds of reactions, are a major turnoff for most people, much more so that the superficial aspect of physique is likely to be. It heals nobody to tell them their insecurity is what's making them less attractive instead of the matter of their discontent, and we should be sensitive about how we approach the issue of insecurities especially when it comes to young people. But also, an adult man of average hight letting their hight affect their close relationships and overall behavior, paying into cultist internet pseudoscience and taking the insecurity out on their significant other is plain pathetic. I'm not one to bash cosmetic procedures with can have a major life quality increasing impact when handled with care and consideration with adequate concern and caution from the health care providers, but speaking about the realities of both the causes of the demand for and effects of these procedures is increasingly important. Most cosmetic insecurities are arbitrary at bast and delusional at worst. Real, but not necessarily based in reality.
I'm only 4'10" and when I was 16 I had an x-ray of my hand taken to look at my growth plates and the doctor was like "ehhh... you *might* get another quarter of an inch but you're pretty much done growing." and I was like "and there's no way for me to be taller?" and the doctor was like "well, we could break your legs, put pins in and crank you up every month or so but it would be incredibly painful" and I was like 😬 "no thank-you."
Yes. I had my femur lengthened (one femur was much shorter) for quality of life reasons. The true work is the months after the device is placed. You have to slowly bring the bones apart manually with a type of wrench so everything else in the leg can adjust. Your leg(s) are broken for months, I personally had a lot of complications due to infections, the physical therapy afterwards is brutal, and I personally still have other muscle related issues years later. Some people even need the procedure redone in some cases, they had it as an option for me but I chose something else to help with the leg difference. Long story short, it was well worth it for my case. But for cosmetic reasons only?? Id suggest lifted shoes or learning to be content with your natural height 😅
Proposing at someone's wedding is rude for two reasons: 1. You are taking the focus off of the couple, and the entire purpose of the event is to focus on the couple. 2. You are using the time, money, and labor of the dozens of people that worked to create a great event, with a venue, decorations, inviting all your friends and family, food, music, etc, in order to make a picturesque backdrop for your proposal. How about this? If you propose at my wedding, you pay for half the costs. Deal? No deal? Then you were just looking to mooch off the work I put into the event.
Honestly, the least you could do is ask the actual couple. If they’re okay with it, you can slot in a time, make it part of the occasion. It could be a fun way to end the reception, as well as give the newlyweds some breathing room. Maybe during the bouquet toss if they’re really generous. Of course, THEY’D get to decide when it happens, and they are still well within rights to give a hard no. Regardless, it’s ABSOLUTELY something you don’t surprise them with, especially as the best man. If they would support you anyway, there’s no reason not to ask.
Excellent point, I want it to become standard etiquette to send them a bill if they do that. If you’re feeling especially cheeky, include it in your invitations or a sign at the wedding that says “if you propose to someone at this event, you are consenting to a legally binding contract to pay for half of the wedding”
I would hope people were less sensitive. So he proposed, big deal. It's just one moment in a long wedding reception after which everyone will refocus on the wedding couple.
@@rasheedismyname8226 they literally mention in the story that everyone did not in fact refocus on the wedding couple, but made the proposal a big deal also how's any of this to do with the overplayed fiddle of "being too sensitive"?
the woman putting the pics in the slideshow really just the play hamlet puts on to know that claudius killed his father, it's so Shakespearean and theatrical I love it
Ikr? The only thing that would be worse is doing it during the vows. OFFICIANT: Do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband? BRIDE: I do. BEST MAN: Sorry to interrupt, but you know who else we should ask if they do? My girlfriend. **Turns to gf in crowd and gets down on one knee** Babe, we've been together for almost 2 months now, and...
The only time I’ve ever seen a proposal at a wedding go well, was when the couple knew and it happened after. At the throwing of the bouquet, were instead of throwing it the wife handed it to the woman who was then proposed to. Like that is sweet, cus everyone knew and they had approval. And it was a fun playoff of a weird lil thing about weddings.
First story: Neither is the AH. I understand her feelings, especially feeling rejected. I don't think BF was in the wrong. He was excited, but he couldn't stop the game at that moment. It's definitely a communication thing, and I think they can grow from it. My husband and I had a similar issue when we were younger. I learned which games he can't/can pause, and he tells me when his raid nights are or if he just started a match. I always play pausible games, but my husband loves games like LOL, Runescape, and WoW.
@@mage1439she said it ended up being 20mins so that also doesn’t help that he said 10-15 and it was more than that. Not saying he’s an AH but if they’ve been having issues with her not wanting sex as often, I’d prioritize that over a 20min raid
@@mage1439 exactly my opinion too, anything over an hour and I'd understand being upset a little, but 20 min feels like he was still thinking of her. Could have talked it out vs going to reddit 😅😂 hopefully her saying it ruined his night doesn't mean he got really upset though
Shayne reading “Come As You Are” not only solidifies how great of a guy he is, but what a good partner he is as well. While this book talks about sexuality as a whole, it does tend to cater to Afab sexuality
They're referring to his partner and wife who doesn't identify as a woman which is why afab is used. Cis Women are still afab, they weren't wrong for that verbage.
@@nahthxafab can refer to trans men and nonbinary people who are afab. they can have different experiences with sexuality, and depending on if the book uses feminine and “women” terms, that would dictate whether it is for all afabs, or just woman sexuality.
As someone who gets to the end of a story and then gets sidetracked, and thus frequently misses the beginning of the next story, I really appreciate the timestamps!
39:42 She thinks this wasn't "the high road", but I think it absolutely was. She had a lot of much lower roads available to her that she didn't walk down.
FR. I’m not 100% sure if I would have gone through with it, but I’d definitely fantasize about giving a speech ripping apart his character and putting a bunch of photos of them up there. Her devil on her shoulder is quiet and I respect her endlessly for that, because I’m not sure I could be the same 😂
Hi, six foot tall girl here, here’s my (purely anecdotal) on-the-ground research regarding dating men of many heights: The ones who were about my height or even slightly taller were the ones who would slowly but surely make my height a “problem”. I have my theories as to why, which is that these guys were always used to being “tall” to other women they’ve dated, and then here comes my monstrous (lovingly) ass, and they don’t know how to deal with that. Shorter dudes or super tall dudes (which I’ve also dated) have never really had to confront that. Shorter guys are used to being same height or shorter in some cases to their female partners, and super tall guys don’t regularly encounter ladies that are around their height. I don’t know. It’s weird. For the record, I legit don’t care about height, but I DO care if you want to try and make MY height an issue. It just feels like it’s a problem with that guys particular ego getting bruised (for literally no reason, we can’t control our heights), and that has nothing to do with me, so stop trying to make it my problem.
Eyy I'm 6ft too. 😊 I've never had people closer to my height causing issue. It's always been people who are shorter who tried making me feel guilty for being tall. I guess it depends 😅 I've never been fussed if someone is shorter than me, but I refuse to be a scapegoat for their insecurities, if they can't get over the fact I'm taller (something I can't change), they need to move on.
Thank you SO much for finally revealing the poop knife story! It's mystery has been plaguing me since I first heard mention on the podcast 😂 Love you all, I listen to the reddit reads while cleaning houses and it makes me lol (for realsies)😅 You all seem like my kind of people, and I can tell you enjoy each other's company. Your other material is great too, but these are best for just listening so I'm sad I'm all caught up! Thanks for bringing laughter to my day, and Happy Birthday Shayne! 🎉
As someone who watches these videos during dialysis for kidney failure (which makes me sleepy) and to fall asleep at night, I would LOVE a soundboard lol. These videos are awesome and have made treatment so much more entertaining. Anyways, thanks Smosh.
@@neliaferreira9983 basically it's a bunch of different buttons that, when pressed individually, play a specific sound assigned to said button! sometimes it's an actual physical electronic device called a "soundboard", other times it's just a bunch of buttons on a digital screen! :3
@@neliaferreira9983 it means sound effects they can hit live. Watch the podcast “perfect person” (there are episodes with smosh members!) for an example
Honestly would love if Shayne ever wants to do a whole +5 hr video unedited just talking about psychology stuff! I love getting to hear people talk about the things they're passionate about.
I was listening to him thinking "just a few episodes ago he talked about never using his psychology degree, but clearly he is very knowledgeable and has great insight, I think that degree is working out great for him!"
For those who are curious, the “reactive sexuality” Shayne is talking about is actually called responsive desire. There are two types of desire: responsive (responds to stimulation and the senses) and spontaneous. It’s more of a spectrum than two different categories. It’s common for both partners to be more spontaneous early in a relationship, and then settle into their natural desire type.
On the first one, as an asexual, I totally get why she felt bad and not in the mood anymore after she went to the effort and was put on hold. It's really hard to stay in that mindset of being open to sex when you have to wait, not to mention feeling rejected. But also on the other hand I understand where the guy is coming from. He's not a jerk for not dropping everything to have sex asap. It's a hard situation to be in that me and my husband have been navigating for about 14 years. More communication will help more than a surprise. If you'd let him know to be ready for something as you were headed home, he may have not started the raid. Just some advice to someone who will never see it lol, and to anyone else who might be in this sort of relationship. Also huge shoutout to everyone who've navigated their asexual/allosexual relationships to the point where you only have sex when you really want to, and are comfortable sticking to that. It can be honestly harder than you'd think for the asexual in such a relationship to feel comfortable enough to set those boundaries.
That said, while the boyfriend should probably take the opportunity given that it doesn't arise very often.. I get how it can feel unfair when partners don't exactly match up. And one partner sort of "runs" when intimacy happens, and then if there's one time you yourself aren't in the mood or in this case are doing something else like a hobby, it feels doubly bad. I dont think its fair to expect the other partner to always at a whim drop something they might be doing because the low sex drive partner is ready. Surprise is nice but I agree, when intimacy is that infrequent it probably would've been best for her to communicate before she got home. She's not a bad person for doing it, but it sounds like she needs to be a bit more understanding or flexible to make their relationship work.
@@11DaltonB Yeah, by no means is anyone in the wrong for having a low sex drive. But that doesn't mean your 'not right now' holds more value than his 'not right now'. He isn't obligated to say 'yes' simply because of how infrequently you're in the mood. That would be getting into dangerous territory
My boyfriend's family has a 'poop stick' that they use. Its in a bucket along with the plunger that they use in the same manor. Their house was built in the 1800s and is basically falling apart, so the plumbing was installed around the 1930-40s and hasn't had the most renovations. The toilet clogs a lot because of that, so they just always had the habit of using the poop stick to break it up if the poop was on the bigger end to ensure they don't have to spend money on upgrading their plumbing
at least that family is smart enough to keep it in the bathroom, the poop knife family keeps it in a separate room entirely and they bring it back there after its done
My family had a poop screwdriver when I was growing up. It was just a really long flathead screwdriver. We also kept it in the closet in our laundry room for some reason.
57:51 my grandparents had a poop knife growing up. it seems so normal growing up then getting older you’re like “oh. that’s actually insane now that i think of it”
11:58 the menage terminology and explanation and then Tommy bringing Nicki Minaj to the convo plus the automatic captions got me off guard and made me spit my water laughing lmao
28:01 with the wedding one, what if the girl said no, not saying it's super likely, but what If she did, not only would that ruin your proposal but it would ruin their wedding too
Since hamsters exploding came up, this actually happened to me. It was not gory, but when I was younger my family went to a festival during the summer. When we came back, we realized my sister did not put water in his bottle. It must have been 100 degrees upstairs (no ac, just windows units which were off). We went up to check on him and there he was, probably more than 3 times his normal size, upside down, mouth hanging open. It was very traumatic and I’ve never let my sister forget. I’ve included “my hamster exploded” in two truths and a lie ever since.
I’m so sorry that happened. I can’t imagine how traumatizing that must have been for you and your family. How old were you and your sister? You say you won’t ever let her forget, but please be aware that you are now perpetuating a never ending cycle of trauma. I hope you both can find peace with each other and let the cycle come to a close. Really wishing you the best.
If it's any consolation, that almost definitely happened after death. Bloat is a natural thing for corpses that occurs when bacteria in the body cause gaseous buildup. There's no reason that dying of heat/dehydration would cause that sort of swelling that I can think of.
When Shayne started talking about reactive sexuality I just knew he'd read Come As You Are, lol. Very good book, highly recommended to both men and women who want to make their sex life way easier to navigate.
I had to take an hour break from this video to go on a rabbit hole dive of responsive versus spontaneous drive and its wild to me that as a 24 year old i had to learn about this concept from smosh. This has been a mild issue in my relationship but now i have endless information about working through this concept. Smosh helped me understand my sexuality and that hurts my brain
The poop knife update is that it keeps being reposted so much, someone keeps changing the "years" on the story. So Happy we finally got to hear the story LIVE!
@@royalblu1100REAL, not a woman but still get it. I'm 5'9, I'm usually taller than most my friends and partners (if I have them) but either way, I quite enjoy boots with heels. This always gives them a complex despite being shorter than me because I'm now taller- it's wack.
Shayne having read Come As You Are was not what I expected, but it’s awesome! I work for a counseling clinic that specializes in Sex Therapy, and it’s a book we often recommend and have several copies of. Emily Nagoski (PhD) really knows her stuff, and is a phenomenal sexuality educator. For those interested in her work, she’s also written a book called Come Together. Where Come As You Are is primarily a delve into how we think about women’s sexuality, Come Together focuses on intimacy in long-term relationships and discusses a lot about “the mood”, spontaneity, and desire, which is a exactly the sort of thing that first story’s couple would benefit from reading about.
Shanye, my mom and I usually watch your reddit stories together. Sometimes I watch beforehand in case I need to prepare her for a certain topic or story… unfortunately today I made the mistake of not actually watching it beforehand, so now my mother knows the tale of poop knife. I was mortified when it came up, but luckily she laughed about it. I guess everything worked out and it will now be a funny joke for us later lol 😭😂
Another term for a "reactive" sex drive is "responsive desire", which I like because it sounds a little more intimate and less like a warning for hazardous chemicals 😄 I've gone down a few rabbit holes trying to figure out how the allos work.
As a short man I can say that tall women care as much about height as short women do. Some do want a taller guy but most don’t care or at the very least if you’re the same height it’s fine. Tall women know they’re tall and a lot of the time they’ve been made to feel weird about it so they don’t judge men on their height.
@@lfrandsyou're the same height went you're horizontal. people who care about height are usually projecting what they feel like when they see a taller woman with shorter man. If the look of you two together is more important than health, it's likely a shitty relationship. It feels so awkward and wrong to me but its just how some people have matured(or not) i guess 🤷♂️
The only time I've ever seen/heard of a proposal at a wedding that wasn't crazy, was a video I saw where the Bride was in on it and handed her bouquet to the girl before having her turn around to see the guy proposing.
22:59 - that is called a self-fulfilling prophecy: when an individual's expectations about another person or group eventually result in the other person or group acting in ways that confirm the expectations.
Accurate. That's the state of a lot of men in the MGTOW, incel, alpha male, manosphere trying to date. I've seen way too many guys actually have a shot and then just blow it because they can't let go of their bad attitudes, biases, insecurities, etc. like I have literally seen women get called gold diggers that only want to date men with 6 figures... because the girl offered to pay for half during the first date and that guy wanted to believe that was an attempt to shame and humiliate him for not being rich. She turned down date 2 because he literally insulted and cussed her out and that then became the "proof" that she only cares about money. It's wild the lengths people go to avoid actually dealing with their problems.
For people that are proposing at weddings I suggest the wedding parties involved do this in response: don’t kick them out. Don’t yell at them. Do not acknowledge what just happened at all or congratulate them either. When they get upset about why no one’s saying anything tell them it’s bc the party wasn’t for them. Take away the attention seeking satisfaction they were trying to get
Happy Birthday, Shane!! I really need y’all to start making more videos each week because one a week isn’t often enough for me. I’m going through withdrawals. I’ve seen every episode! I love it. It’s like hanging out with my friends in my living room. But I don’t have to be social. I can’t wait to see what’s next, thank you for making these videos
Happy birthday shayne and damn look at you teaching everyone about sexuality I really appreciate that. People don't seem to understand just how complex sex is and hopefully it sparks people to learn more
The second Tommy started talking about the surgery, I immediately knew what was up! I had that reconstructive surgery when I was around 10, but it was to lengthen my one leg because it was shorter than my other one due to a fused bent knee (it was just a birth anomaly). The braces are called external fixators and I had one for about a year---I grew 7 inches of bone, way more than the doctors expected, which I guess was kind of cool? (I don't really remember much, I basically looked like the angry cat meme for 12 months because I was so disinterested in what the doctors had to tell me about my growth). While it has certainly helped me, it was an incredibly painful and excruciating process (you twist the bars every few weeks and constantly replace them the more the bone is forcefully grown. The bars are attached to pins that are attached to your bone, hence, the 'stretching' affect), not to mention the fact that I basically spent the whole next year after that going through physical therapy to reteach myself to walk. So yeah, I don't know if I would say it's worth it just to gain an extra few inches of height. Also, because I live in Canada, I was fortunate to get all of this done for free (basically), so the thought of even spending upwards of $75,000 on just the surgery alone is a little crazy to me. But I mean, if that's something you're into, you do you, I guess?
Ah, you should totally read the famous Reddit stories. All the legendary ones. Streetlamp LeMoose, the jolly rancher story, the mysterious post-it notes, TIFU by trying to throw my steak out a window with the follow up from his wife, 'today me, tomorrow you', don't ask me how I took this picture, the potato story, and of course the swamps of Degobah, which deserves it's very own video.
I want to say two hot takes has done the jolly rancher story though it might be on the Patreon. I know Morgan for sure has referenced it, and I'd have to reread for a refresher, but I think I've heard it.
The first story. Whenever you suprises someone with anything. You need to be prepared to adjust your expectations to match their timeline. It's not fair to spring sex onto someone and expect them to drop everything to be with you at that moment. 15-20 minutes to wrap up whatever they're doing is more than reasonable.
It’s totally reasonable! But it’s also reasonable for the mood to be over for her by that point. I have ADHD. 15-20 minutes is an eternity for something like this. I’m not going to be upset about bad timing (similar things have happened with me and my husband who is also a gamer, and like Shayne, we always have found it kinda funny lol) but I def would be if someone expects I’m just going to automatically be able to snap back to the mental space I was in. Some brains just don’t work that way! That train will probs eventually make its way back around but in the meantime about 87 others showed up to take me somewhere else instead. It’s a topic where open communication and really working to understand each other is the only path forward.
Logically I understand this. But at the same time when I've done it I've already kept myself in that zone for a while (waiting for someone to arrive home) and psyched myself out that any reaction outside of excitement would have immediately shut me down. Maybe it depends on your confidence and comfort level but it isn't easy to just put yourself out there like this and then not get the reaction you were hoping for. You start to feel silly and if you're an overthinker good luck. This is how I felt when I got the same 15-20min. Maybe if someone says some compliments, kisses you passionately and promises they're rushing to you? It's often how you communicate and show interest to your partner
@@unoriginalquote8132 that's just a failure to manage yourself. If you know you can't wait 20 minutes then maybe don't make it a suprise. She probably spent well over 20 minutes getting ready. She should have made her intentions clear before she started getting ready and then he would be done with his game and ready to go when she's done getting ready.
@callmesra I feel this. Also my husband is gamer, I have had this happen so many times, often without it even been game with someone, just him playing alone, and I'm definitely not in the mood anymore after that. So at some pont I just told him, if he wants sex, he can make first move, I'm done feeling rejected every time. It's different than in this story, but still, I think. It has been so much easier to just manage my expectations. Also he has right to ask her wait and she has right to change her mind after that. It just needs to be communicated.

I’m so glad that procedure exists
that kind of use for leg lengthening is great!!! using it for aesthetic insecurities before, like, fucking therapy or sthn is a miss fo me.

If the person does care that much about your height, then they're not the person for you.
i knew a girl with dwarfism who had both her legs lengthened

The notion of a flawless marriage or relationship is a myth. There's no set formula for success; what works for one couple may not work for another. Yet, I've discovered that there's always a way forward, even in the most challenging times. Five years ago, my wife and I encountered significant hurdles in our marriage that nearly led to divorce. Despite the adversity, we managed to weather the storm and emerge from it with our bond renewed and revitalised

Yay!! So happy for you and your wife!
not to be rude, but what does this have to do with the video?
Shayne, it actually meaans SO MUCH to me that you pointed out how illogical the animal death story was. By myself, I would've been too caught up in my own anxieties and emotions to condiser the logical points you made.
Hearing a story that's definitely fake and then having you immediately point out the fakeness? It's better for my mental health than even skipping over that story would have been! ❤
idk what’s wrong with me, I instantly assume every reddit story is fake when it starts to get weird, but I was fully on board for this bullshit

I physically recoiled from my screen, for real.
i did an essay about the limbs lengthening and its not the bones that are the problem.
Oh this makes me uncomfy ☹️
Proposing at someone's wedding is rude for two reasons:

I guess it depends 😅
I've never been fussed if someone is shorter than me, but I refuse to be a scapegoat for their insecurities, if they can't get over the fact I'm taller (something I can't change), they need to move on.

What do you guys mean with "soundboard"? What is it in this context?
@@neliaferreira9983 basically it's a bunch of different buttons that, when pressed individually, play a specific sound assigned to said button! sometimes it's an actual physical electronic device called a "soundboard", other times it's just a bunch of buttons on a digital screen! :3

Honestly would love if Shayne ever wants to do a whole +5 hr video unedited just talking about psychology stuff! I love getting to hear people talk about the things they're passionate about.
I second that. I could hear him talk about anything, I like his voice and his worldviews.
I was listening to him thinking "just a few episodes ago he talked about never using his psychology degree, but clearly he is very knowledgeable and has great insight, I think that degree is working out great for him!"
44:35 it’s the final squeak that gonna make me cry
For those who are curious, the “reactive sexuality” Shayne is talking about is actually called responsive desire. There are two types of desire: responsive (responds to stimulation and the senses) and spontaneous. It’s more of a spectrum than two different categories. It’s common for both partners to be more spontaneous early in a relationship, and then settle into their natural desire type.
Thank you, I typed reactive sexuality into RUclips and nothing relevant really came up

Also ace and if it doesn’t happen immediately I’ll lose focus and then it’s gone forever. Sorry dude, you missed the train! 😂😂😂
@@11DaltonByeah, a partner isn't a vending machine for sex, no matter how frequently or infrequently you want it
@@11DaltonB Yeah, by no means is anyone in the wrong for having a low sex drive.
Same with my boyfriends family, just no plunger and bucket just a stick lol
at least that family is smart enough to keep it in the bathroom, the poop knife family keeps it in a separate room entirely and they bring it back there after its done

Hey, got my pancakes out and I’m ready to hear these stories! Happy birthday Shayne!
Lmaoooooo
Thank you for the suggestion!!

This episode was chaos and I demand more of it. Can we get annual Shayne reddit stories on his birthday and have Tommy and Spencer be the guests?
I had to take an hour break from this video to go on a rabbit hole dive of responsive versus spontaneous drive and its wild to me that as a 24 year old i had to learn about this concept from smosh. This has been a mild issue in my relationship but now i have endless information about working through this concept. Smosh helped me understand my sexuality and that hurts my brain

*The bond of a family is something truly unbreakable. Through thick and thin, they’re always there.*
the pregnant wife's sister one was crazy. She said "during and AFTER the pregnancy." and no update????
If it was real, maybe the wife didn't want him posting more about it on the internet in case other people figured out who they were.
I was wondering if the only one who caught that.
i feel like soundboards should be a mainstay on most of smosh’s content. i know it within my bones that these people would make such good use of it
Shanye, my mom and I usually watch your reddit stories together.
42:08 In my country there is a musician, who has a song about a hamster who ate a magnet and fried himself to the heater 😂

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAYNE!! 🎉🎂♥️
22:58 not a word, but there is a term.
'Self-fulfilling prophecy'
Yes, I also said aloud to the screen but they didn't hear me.

Take away the attention seeking satisfaction they were trying to get
The issue is the other people. The wedding party may take a stand, but you cant prevent guests from acting ad they will.

Spencer should be in every episode. He was on one the entire time 😂
The second Tommy started talking about the surgery, I immediately knew what was up!

40:26 THE IMMEDIATE SILENCE IM CRYING
Okay my favorite moment this episode was 1:01:03 when nothing comes out of Shane except a tiny Mouse squeak for a laugh
I also feel like it's reasonable to not be in the mood anymore by the twenty minute mark.
