    Technically, probably more than 20 riffs, but some of them are harmonies, etc. so I'm just erring on the side of caution!
    0:22- Prowler
    0:50- Sanctuary
    1:09- Remember Tomorrow
    2:11- Running Free
    2:23- Phantom Of The Opera
    3:20- Solo (Dennis Stratton)
    3:56- Transylvania
    4:34- Strange World
    5:24- Charlotte The Harlot
    5:35- Iron Maiden

    Your channel is done to perfection. Timestamps, short examples (no need to play the repeats over and over although it's like that in the songs, unless there is a reason to do it), straight to the point without a bunch of talk, tabs... It's a dream for guitarplayers on a hobby-level like me! :)

      Awesome, really happy to hear that! I always try to think about videos form the point of view of a learner when I'm putting them together.
      I learned loads of stuff from RUclips, but as the videos got longer, included more anecdotes, got more blog-like and started to lean towards a more edited/cinematic style I found it was increasingly difficult to find the lessons or information I wanted to get. Lots of people seem to really like that style, but it's not for me! So I've made an effort to have videos as sort of "user-friendly" as possible; having said that, I'm still prone to rambling and it doesn't always work as well as I'd like, haha! :D

    Absolutely awesome. Amazing learning tools you produce with the tabs etc. I can now play a few notes in running free, could just play chords before, and I can now play part of the intro to one of my all time faves tracks(phantom). Although it will take a while to learn the rest I look forward to the challenge. Many thanks and keep up the excellent work

      Thanks Ross, glad this one kick started you on Phantom! Have to say that intro rhythm took me some time to get down, a really unique riff!

      @@JbfMusicGuitar I've been working on phantom using your video and some tabs I found, though I think the tabs use weird combinations of notes sometimes and am getting there. Still slow but watching you has even inspired me to try the solos. Something I never thought I would be attempting, especially maiden solos. It takes a while and it just sounds like a random collection of notes at first but I am persevering. Really enjoying the guitar right now. Thanks man

      @@spike1890 That's amazing to hear man, so glad I could help facilitate that in anyway!
      Yeah, that solo from Stratton isn't too tough; still not easy stuff; but if you've started to get the riffs down I'd reckon the solos are fair game as well!

      Hey man, yeah like I'd said before I'll put together a video on how to write riffs like Maiden, I'll try and put together a few riffs and make a song or sorts from that. Will take me a while to make it though!

    Your opening riff to Prowler sounds like the way they play it live. The studio version is a bit choppier and a bit harder to replicate for some reason.

    • @JbfMusicGuitar
      @JbfMusicGuitar  4 года назад +1

      Yeah good point! I suspect they maybe had less gain and maybe a fairly harsh noise gate to chop off the sort of transient sounds, could be mistaken though- do you reckon that sounds about right?

    • @ryanhoskins01
      @ryanhoskins01 4 года назад +1

      @@JbfMusicGuitar Yeah, I think that's what it is, lower gain and a pretty high gate to try and lessen high-pitched feedback. So, with less sustain the strokes sound a bit more separated and the riff comes off a bit crunchier (if that makes sense).

    • @JbfMusicGuitar
      @JbfMusicGuitar  4 года назад +1

      @@ryanhoskins01 Only other thing I can think of, is that if Dennis Stratton played in on the record, he was less of a hard rock guy, so his style might not have been as chunky, or sort of metal/hard rock?

      Thanks dude! You know I had planned to do this for thier whole back catalogue, but this video didn't do very well when I uploaded it. It's picked up a bit since, so might be an idea to carry on with it, what do you reckon? Also, what are your favourite riffs from Killers?

    • @jonshaw9472

      @@JbfMusicGuitar Wrathchild, Rue Morgue, killers, Exile, Drifter and Another life, surprised it hasn't had more views as the guitar tutorial channels Skype and guitar 365 always get good viewing figures for Maiden, especially the old stuff. It's absolutely superb mate and a brilliant reference for me as a guitarist who has followed Maiden since day one.

    • @JbfMusicGuitar

      Awesome, glad to hear you've found some use out of it! I think it’s always just a bit hit and miss with the algorithm, no idea how it decides what to suggest, lol! Great songs choices there, it would also give me an excuse to work out the kick ass solos in Ides Of March- always loved the leads in that, quite rightly, “killer”!

    • @jonshaw9472
      @jonshaw9472 4 года назад

      @@JbfMusicGuitar ides of March is the best intro to any album that I've ever heard, it blew me away back in 81 when I bought it, even better than 'welcome to the jungle' which would be most rock fans choice, Adrian's solo (despite having great feel and tone) is quite straightforward, but Daves, as is usual around this time, is much more of a challenge. The first two Maiden albums for me were the absolute pinnacle, neither have ever been bettered.
