I only recently discovered TNO after 500+ hours of this game with mods like Kaiserreich and Road to 56 so it’s going to be weird adjusting to the new gameplay but in terms of the story and feel I get from this mod the best way I can describe this mod from my limited experience is it feels like a world that shouldn’t have existed, something about the way that Germany and Japan dominate the map really just makes me feel like this world shouldn’t have been, and personally I find that immensely interesting.
"Shouldn't have been" that's an intresting turn of phrase. I find the idea of nazis inherently bizarre concept myself. Something about the way they operate makes them fit in more with villans out of w comic book or bad alternate history fiction to begin with. The just seeim so unbelievable to be true yet here they are. Personally I find that the accelerationist in france in the Red Flood universe to be just as plausible as the nazis in terms of sterbatve history fandom. All they need is some more backstory.

The governments change with the people, while the Nazi government was simply a way for people in a sense to just simply vent their frustration about issues by going the extreme but changed much more slowly than allied governments.

It's not horrific like Burgundian lullaby is, instead it's kinda "think of all that was lost, and all the horrors that are yet to come" I'm glad Burgundian lullaby is no longer the main menu theme TBH. I like it, but it gets old hearing it everytime and it is a bit too over-the-top to be played as the Main Menu theme, it works best as Burgundy's theme (as it was, I presume, designed for!).

Fun fact: this song got renamed to toolbox theory and was replaced as a main theme but you can still find it in the ost. But if you ask me this song is 10 times better as a main theme.
Personally it starts out as a bit horrors', depressing but starting at 0:30 it starts to feel like I'm trying to fight against it, to turn the tide against the darkness. Little hope remains but its still there and when the Germans and Japanese start having trouble keeping themselves together that's when I know that there is still a chance for brighter tomorrow.
And there's still hope left in the world. The OFN, for all it's flaws, truly are trying their very best to right the wrongs of history by opposing the Germans and the Japanese.
Well, they are different in a way. Man in the high castle depicts of a total Axis Victory, which means the entire world under Japan and Germany, while TNO is while also a full axis victory, it isn't a total axis victory. Though at the same time in my opinion, I just don't find TNO scary at all. I find novels like 1984 or Fahrenheit 451 to me more dystopian and more scary than TNO, but thats just me I guess.
Really does fit the theme of "threat of cold war-induced nuclear annihilation meets the horrifying might of a victorious nazi germany in ww2" a lot better than burgundian lullaby which seems far more appropriate for just burgundy specifically
