Something I did wish the film did was have the three daughters have more agency in the movie. Like they could’ve had some stuff about Margo struggling to fit into her new school and maybe her and Poppy forming a friendship or something Maybe have something about Anges struggling with being in Edith’s shadow and trying to become her own person. Maybe have something about her standing up to the karate instructor and beating him in a fight or something
@@bhaveshghanta369 Ok, yeah, Rise of Gru got decent reviews, but lower then the first 2 Despicable Me films. This one has basically got similar reviews as Despicable Me 3 and the first Minions movie.
@@monicadelgado5296I don’t think that’s what the original comment was saying. I think he meant more like it’s just a kids movie obviously it’s not gonna be very complex or thought provoking
It was a very weird movie lol. The plot was all over the place. You think the plot would go one way to tell that story but then gets distracted and goes off to tell another story and then the two stories link up in a very clunky way. The one review about the note cards hit the nail on the head with that comment. It’s a mess. But I will say, i took my daughter and she really liked it. And there are some very heartwarming moments. But ultimately it’s forgettable in a couple hours.
Regardless of quality, they'll keep making these movies till they stop making money. Whoop de doo. I wonder if this franchise will ever go the way of Ice Age.
I haven't even seen the 3rd film, just 1, 2, & the Minions movie. Illumination movies aren't terrible, but just don't have any heavy impact for them to be memorable like DreamWorks & Pixar movies.😕
It was the one with the brother who wanted to become a villain like him, so gru uses him to help steal the diamond back from the 1980s ridden villain Balvazaar Brat. I quite liked it actually I think y’all are slandering it 😢
and as someone who just watched it, its a lot of fun, great movie and they fit a lot of story in 1 hour in a half, the villain is pretty good and the ending is great
I did love the first Despicable Me. After that they have been enjoyable but they all kind of blend together. This one will do well, but I am not motivated to see it in the theater.
I saw Despicable Me 4 earlier today and I thought it was good. I think it's better than Despicable Me 3. Despicable Me 4 is not the best in the series but I think it's better than the third.
The stories were always terrible. Gru and the Minions were always the selling point. Despicable Me 2 was the last time my mom took me to a movie twice on the same day that she actually wanted to see. Also, why do you have a guy who doesn't actually see movies on a movie show? A favor? In-Law? Lost bet? His "I didn't do my homework" vibe is getting old.
Poppy Prescott was the strongest character in the movie and legit the only minions that got a laugh from me were the three that stood with Gru, the other ones especially the mega minions could have burned in a volcano and I wouldnt have cared. The movie is stronger without them. Imagine getting more time with the girls or gru if you cut like half of the minions bs or hell getting more with the villain despite how gross he was. At least we could have gotten more of a chance for him to grow on us. Sofias character was forgettable and the cockroaches with human teeth will haunt my dreams for the foreseeable future. Thanks illumination I hate it.
Everything that you being just a viewer think this movie could have done to be better, is an improvement to what they as studio and writters offer us and ended up givin to the audience, and thats sad, not because we cant be creative but because they suppousedly study to bring quality products

@@dannysanchez9919actually if you’ve seen Despicable Me 4, it doesn’t have fart jokes. No part of the movie uses it surprisingly. But that’s only one joke that ends up being kind of somewhat similar.
This is a franchise that quite frankly ran out of steam a long time ago, I’m a fan of the first 2 Despicable Me movies but that’s it, and the second one came out in 2013, meaning that this franchise hasn’t made a good movie in 11 years, I mean when your franchise hasn’t been good for over a decade and it’s still going what reason do I have to believe that this new one will be good? It looks like it’s just there to deliver the same tired Minions slapstick humor that your 5 year kids or 65 year old grandma find amusing and that’s it, only this time they seem to be chasing the current superhero trend by having that be part of it, I just have like no interest in this franchise anymore, whenever I see a new one coming out I just kinda shrug and go “Whatever” now
I agree with that sentiment. I really don’t understand how people say rise of gru was one of the better installments. I personally didn’t like it at all.
@@randomguy6695To be fair, they probably didn't mean it was good necessarily, more like less irritating than the other sequels. Ofc, that depends on who you talk to though.

People seriously need to stop praising illumination. I can’t wait to see Moana 2 wreck this film. Just like how it’ll easily wreck Megamind 2 by a long shot.
Kids aren't going to care and they're the ones that are going to drive the box office.
Despicable Me 4 is going to make tons of money since most families are going to theaters due to family movies.

Once again a big divide between Critic and Audience score with currently 53% critic score and 90% audience score.

The reviews are pretty much in line with most of the franchise. Only the first two Despicable Me movies got genuinely good reviews.
