Looping always has been a luxury strategy and appends are endgame content. Complaining that everyone doesn’t just have access to it with minimal effort is entitled to no end. You don’t need to busted loop no one is forcing, you just play the game

Next year is way too late. What if this makes some whales go NP6++ just to complete their servant? Lasengle would need to implement something lackluster so their whales feel like they didn't just throw away their money.

If they just fixed how awful servant coins were I dont think many would mind, but the fact that you need 8 copies of an ssr is insane. Lets not even talk about 4 star servants. Coins were already annoying enough for them and now its worse.

At this point they need to fix they rate ups fgo rates been ahh for years, now 8 copies is much & dealing with the horrible pity system, & for God sake why they tie it with bond leveling that's horrible it takes a long time to reach 10 but 15!? No they lose it.
This change is disgusting with no extra coin changes as well. I can not describe how disappointed I am and sad for everyone who has gone as far as to pull NP6+ to max out their servants for completionism purposes or otherwise. We don’t even get so much as the chance to choose these above the other appends we perhaps wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. NP8 Bond 15 to max out an SSR, let’s go guys!
The problem is for people that already spent their servant coins for 3 appends have no choice beside going to NP8. Imagine dedicating time for your favourite servant only to be betrayed by lasagna like this.

So this is why they broke the "in case of emergency, here is Summer Eresh" glass: to distract the playerbase from the greediest move they've ever pulled off. I play NA and whale occasionally, but this is too much. I won't be spending any more money until they fix this. if $$$ is the only language they know, the players need to send a message that this kind of behavior is not OK.
Voting with your dollar is a myth. When companies reach a critical mass in capital, they can literally afford to ignore backlash through ad campaigns and slapping more useless bells and whistles on their shit products. Especially companies like Lasagna, who purposefully created a clientele of casual whales and gambling addicts.

Gachas make a _lot_ of their profit from microtransactions and thus are much more vulnerable to collective voting with wallets than the majority of modern games.

Especially after the Arcueid banner past (as a NP5 Arcueid from my ani quartz (didn't spend on the banner still kinda in shock from that) owner I now feel like I've been stabbed specifically because they don't have any future sighted banners currently to get the 3 extra copies I'd need to max them out(albeit I'm not planning on getting their Append 1-3 because I was wanting to try and get my 1st level 120 servant The problem here is that this blind sided all JP players who already got max appends(we now have 2 years notice at least), because there is no way to change their decision (there really should be (such as a crystal of parallel possibilities which allows you to move one appends unlocked status and level to another append slot but are super rare to encounter)
Literally makes it mandatory now for so many servants before you weren't really punished for it but now every single unit in the game has their power increased dramatically by this and can't do things servants with this does it's bot like the other appends which were just small bonuses beside arguably append 2 but append 5 outclassed it In every regard cause what the actual fuck everyone is fucked over by this change

@@reishiki8682 Except the game told you to after you get a servant to 120 max append. As there were no further uses, the game put the coins at the top of the list and recommended burning them. The game literaly told you to burn their coins bc they had no other use anymore.
They won't fix this. As long as there're players that are willing to spend on a servant. I've seen a lot of jp players on twitter that roll for more than 10 copies of an ssr
I hope people in JP give them enough hell after Eresh hype falls down they will have to implement that "emergency button" coin fix they probably have in the back pocket in case of backlash.
Or this just ends up as another Aesc, the outside JP players causing all sorts of noise while JP players were universally accepting of Aesc, as proo of her being the most grailed Servant to 120.

Heck, my Tamamo is actually extremely powerful with this append because now, she speeds up everyone else while she herself becomes a legitimate solo Servant in her own right.

Seeing as how they refused to address servant coins at all, but have instead chosen to make the issue worse, this is definitely never getting fixed. This feels like something they threw in to milk as much cash from people before EoS. In no way does it make sense to implement something like this without fixing the underlying system it operates on (servant coins) unless they have no intention of fixing it to being with. There's no way a company is genuinely that incompetent to not realize why this change is nothing short of awful for veteran players, which are the overwhelming majority of the game's players at this point, 9 years into the game's life. What the actual fuck.
I think the most disgusting thing about this change (aside from it being a greedy as shit move and no way to get more Coins aside from rolling) is the fact that LAST YEAR they told people they can just burn their extra coins on Grail Casting if you already have everything unlocked that you want.
Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if they added a coin system upgrade for the 30M Download campaign: it's long overdue by now and they have added big QOL updates on previous milestones (25M was the Bronze Sapling system). My guess is, they're waiting on the campaign until after Summer, to make sure everyone feels obliged to roll as much as possible on the Summer banners and Eresh. It's a shame the implementation is so scummy, because the 5th append is actually good in a vacuum: but with the current requirements it's just too much

You know the coins they give for welfare servants? You know how they give you so many that not only you can unlock all the append skills, but also grail them up to level 120? Well, after unlocking the append skills, I spent the remaining coins to buy a couple of holy grails. Fuck me, I guess.
I literally screamed in pain when I saw the two appends, and from there, this anni went down the drain for me. I'm a f2p player, and I was happy that I got Arc NP2 back in 2022. It's nothing impressive, but at least, if I got her to BOND 12, I could 120 her. I was happy that anni was around the corner because I was planning on taking advantage of the exp boost to level her (and also Astrea and Welfare Shiki) to 120. But now, especially with Arc, I regret not expending those coins on her biggest buff. It is genuinely a great idea that could have been implemented with Class Score (you only need to farm), but they decided to execute it in the WORST possible way. Congratulations, Lasengle. I didn't think you could make coins even more (Moon)cancer. But hey, according to some (braindead) players, it's my fault for not rolling more copies. And at least it is Arcueid, if it were Draco, this would be even worse.
Similar position. My Arcueid rolls went well under average copies/quartz and I had enough to make her work (np3), so I stopped at my stopping point to be able to have a solid shot at Summer Skadi. I am not sure that is enough to get her to 120 _and_ an append, though, and she has not had a rate-up in 2 years.
Here's a non-exhaustive list of changes that'd make this update more tolerable (I'm not asking for all of them, just one would be good enough): -Reduce SC (servant coins) cost for appends -Lower pity threshold -Make pity not a one-time thing -Increase the amount of SC a copy gives you (Honnestly I'd even take just bumping up the amount for limited and story locked SSRs, the same way it is for lower rarities) -Add "unassigned" SC you can get through different ways (buy at rare prism shop, at event shop, reward for CQs etc), even just 10 at a time would be decent. -Add some kind of reverse Grail Casting where you can trade a Grail or a Lore for SC of a particular servant
Goddamn these are all such great ideas for changes that’ll never be implemented. The one I think think that’d be really plausible imo is they increase the coins you get from copies just 30 extra coins 90-120 would help a lot man what a frustrating change. Benefit of hindsight tho as an NA player knowing about this 2 years ahead of time guess I’ll have to be careful from now on.

The issue with increasing SC's given or reducing the cost for appends is that lasengle risks pissing off every player who has already whaled to get enough SC to max their servant
They would still make them far too limited and expensive. The only fix is to get rid of the servant coin system which obviously isnt happening. This used to be my favorite gacha game but it just keeps getting worse.
I would prefer they just dropped Servant specific coins, switched to having a univerasal currency that can be farmed through a daily like QP, Embers, Skill Gems, etc. There's no justifiable reason for them to have skill progression loxked behind the gacha, especially for SR and SSR Servants that can't be acquired in large numbers without paying.
Constellation is atleast bit better with the pity. By F2P standards, you can guarantee c1 in 5.5 months, and that is assuming all hard pity(90th pull). It is the scam weapon banner that's atrocious. I just spent 1290SQs+70tix to get the 2nd copy of Sibuki and failed. I'm too tired grinding now. It's like a big hole on the bottom of a sinking ship.
@@thornszk even wishing in general, if I hit pity in Hoyo games is all normal no hard feelings, if I hit pity in FGO I probably will ditch the game for 6 months before coming back.
Constellations in Genshin are at least not mandatory and at most they provide a pleasant QoL that you can live without or compensate for by knowing how to play, while you have Servants in FGO that practically need NP Levels and Append Skills like Mana Charge to work properly.
When I saw the 2 new append skills, I thought, "Oh, That means we're also getting more ways to get coins along with it right? RIGHT?! *RIGHT?!?!?!?!* ", FUCKING NOPE
I was so excited a few months ago to finally max out my Ishtar by getting her to NP6 so I could get her last anti-ruler append even though, gameplay-wise it’s basically got no use. Now I feel like I wasted my time unlocking it because not only is she no longer fully maxed out, I also could’ve used those coins on something actually useful. Insanely frustrating choice by Lasengle.
Something this big would be solved if they created a certain method where you can change your appends to experiment which is ideal, cuz the 3 appends fit for the np5 structure, adding 2 more without touching ANYTHING ELSE without any backdoors is an ABSOLUTE BLUNDER

There are so many ways they could improve the servant coin system and they just don’t do any of them. Not to mention this change makes it literally impossible to completely max out welfare servants because the coins purchase-able for them in event shops plus bond 15 doesn’t even get you close to what you need.
They really should've add a Coin shop in the game and like uses Prisms to buy so we don't have to waste time doing Gacha just to get these Append skill same case how they made a shop specifically for Servant mats
They need similar system like Elephs from Blue Archive where they can make Servant coins farmable outside of Evocation shop (which is only limited to welfares)
yeah honestly i think this is something they need to do, i can see that they might not want to do it so that they can wring out more money from whales, but i think they could at least do something in the middle, where they its similar to the fou paws where you can do it but it takes a long time, that way whales still might get impatient and buy a ton, and f2ps can still match them by being patient. I'd still prefer if they were more generous though

Put simply, this is the kind of change that could be justified overnight if they merely cut the number of coins needed down by something like 20 per append, and handed them back retroactively. It would mean 60 coins back, and 40 fewer coins needed post change, so it would effectively return the state of the game to "np6, bond 15 required", which would do wonders for their image. The prblem here, is that they clearly *didn't* think this through, and thus gain no points with the players for doing this.
The bigger problem here is that they could desing new servants with this new append in mind, so new buster servants going forward only loop with this unlocked instead of being a nice bonus
I wish they'd at least let you refund appends. It just feels like shit when you unlock a useless append because there was no other reason to hold on to the coins. I was holding on to them since they were unlocked on NA in the off chance they updated Appends but just used them recently so it feels extra bad.
Imo whats the worst thing is if you already spent all your coins and then there is no way to unlock the CD append, because that thing is really strong and its very impactful, also who knows if that servant you want will get rate up or not any time sooner, so you're just stuck, i really feel bad for people who complete everything 100%

This update also depends massively on banners for servants being available. And given that some servants go 18 months or longer without a banner, the charitable reading is that they're going to massively increase availability of servants via banners. The more likely outcome is that older favorites will get the odd banner once a year, and anyone whose favorite servant doesn't match Lasengle's expectations is going to have to wait 2-4 years for another banner to get more servant coins.
This is not on Kanou but mostly on Nasu. He's the one blocking improvements to Gacha Rates etc because he wants it to feel "special" when you get a servant you want. If it were up to Kanou I think we would be in a very different place. Plus they need to hire more people to work on the game for Animation Updates etc

I think the most outrageous thing is that by this point people would have used their coins for other appends, and those appends are crucial for those Servants, like how Arcueid basically needs 5th append to be a great Buster farmer. Same for someone like Summer BB, she can also farm with Double Koyan and Oberon now since her skill 2 can now be doubled. And many Quick and Buster Servants would really like that crit append but can't get it because you unlocked extra attack boost or something
They didn't refund or cut grail costs when they raised the max level despite it purely existing for wasting players time/resources and making people roll for servant coins. I dont see them doing it here either unfortunately. FGO just keeps getting greedier and people keep whaling anyways. We need a fast, F2P, and not timegated way to farm servant coins. They keep adding timegated upgrade systems like pawprints and I'm sick of of having hundreds of servants(increasing every year) I'll never have close to max. They promised a way to farm servant coins years ago and never did it. Servant coins and everything associated with them is a blatant cash grab they keep making worse. Edit: Well I'm happy to be proven wrong. They didn't fix anything but refunds and free grails are nice for people in JP. Still need them to fix the coin system though.

I don't even feel like spending on any of GSSR banner/Choose your own GSSR banner because of this updates. It's like a buff that only 0.1% of the players gets to enjoy. FK, even mihoyo in all of their greediness has lowered the peak value within multiple copy systems from the fifth copy (C4, e.g: Ayaka) to third copy (C2 e.g: Raiden) to encourage people to spend, this new append skill is going to screw over even dolphin/light spender, this is just straight BS. Fuck you Lasengle. Done ranting.

I'm not a whale, but I did intend to go for a completely maxed out Barghest and Huyan Zhuo eventually. It felt doable before but now I'm just staring down this bottomless pit that hungers for SQ.
FGO has always been a gacha that, despite the rates and mediocre pity system, provided comfort for players as a game that didn't demand players roll for multiple copies of a similar servant--although NP upgrades were substantial for farming, you could get away with low NP levels with the right supports. The coin system, upon its implementation, was always a bit controversial with how it moved the game from being less F2P friendly in that regard, but because coins were only worthwhile for Append #2 and grailing past 100 (which isn't something most of us will do on the regular), the system was generally regarded as *fine* as it at least opened up farming for more servants. Fast forward to today, we get this change that is extremely tone-deaf, given it was not paired with a much needed change to the coin system. Not only that, there was no sign that the Append system would be updated, so players who thought they rolled enough for a limited servant, used their coins to complete a servant, or decided to hold off getting more copies after getting enough to grail and/or get Append 2 got blindsided. What's astonishing about this addition is that it's so incompetent that Lasengle can't even benefit from it. My goal for this Anni was to grail Alice to 120--I have her at NP3 and Bond 11, so I was prepared to make this journey. However, I now have to hold off on doing so if I wish to get Append 5. This sucks on my end, but I can't even bend over for Lasengle to tear into my ass and bank account because Alice is a collab limited character who won't see a rateup for God knows how long (As she could be as rare as Miyu was at some point). Append skills *should* be a needed addition that loosens up what is normally strict farming setups. The problem is that coins are so poorly implemented that they push FGO towards the nature of Hoyo games, where getting Eidolons/Constellations provide such a large benefit...except those games at least have a manageable pity system. I don't want there to be anything as severe as threats, but I hope JP bros really hammer into Lasengle about this: as Appends stand, nobody stands to benefit, yet they effectively put players off from investing into their favorite servants as DW had always intended for us to do.
Think that's more on the perfectionists causing a stir. If a whale is more pragmatic they'll most likely have spare coins for their favorites. Like c'mon, would you bother getting append 1 for non-solo Servants "for the sake of self-proclaimed perfection" when there's no actual benefit? This is just like the Aesc fiasco where the "supposed outrage" was actually non-JP players blowing smoke. That's like admitting "you used up all coins for all appends beyond the one they actually get a benefit from" as a flex.
I get that and all but let's be real here. How many do you think even wants to be a completionist? The wide majority mostly spend money to get that one copy. This has always been more of a whale thing and while it sucks and i agree they should give us more coins... it is hardly the end of the world. It's just two new appends and only 2 out of 5 are truly useful. Any more than that is like getting an 8th copy of a genshin character. Completing a character is a choice that you make... I don't think it's an appropriate reaction to not seeing 10/10/10/10/10 across the board. Unlike genshin, FGO doesn't give you the idea to spend money for another copy. Pity is still 900sq and hardly anyone would want to do that 8 times. A completed character could net you a high end PC and while I'm not one to tell you where to spend your money, it's absolutely crazy how some people react over what is essentially a choice to spend more money. | And trust me, this is hardly as greedy as genshin is. 7 copies at a 100 or 200 pulls where each 100 pull would cost you 200 dollars.... that would be at worst 2800 dollars. With the added consensus that you can get the next character guaranteed after 100. That is not the same as "oh character guaranteed at 300 btw good luck. High enough that nobody except for a whale would even entertain the idea of spending.... around 600 dollars for one copy.... let alone 8 of them. Like who is stupid enough to potentially spend 4800 dollars on a png just so you can see that waifu maxed out across the board? That's Like a Kawasaki Ninja inside of one png. Again yes I do agree that they should fix the coin system and such but again, this reaction to it is just insane to me.
@arrexu01 That's the thing, though, in cases like myself, I'm not even looking to complete Alice. Currently, I have her 2nd Append and at level 106 with a goal of getting her to 120. As it stands now, if I want her 5th Append, I'm going to have to wait for either of the above, as grinding past bond 10 is a lengthy process, especially when you won't always be able to have a servant with a 5 star cost tied to you 24/7. To answer your question: enough people are negatively impacted by this. I, and most others, aren't throwing fits--at the moment, I'm trying out Eresh and enjoying the anniversary for what it is. With that being said, even if *most* players aren't the type to maximize their farming efficiency or completely max their servants, doing so is a big part of FGO because, let's be honest, what else besides story do we have to look forward to?
@reishiki8682 I'm not necessarily a completionist myself--in fact, I'm more of a minimalist where I pick/choose where and when I use my resources. Yet I'm very much affected by this because Alice, a character I've been looking forward to since I first began FGO and had planned on making large investments since her release, is now a project that I have to put to the side until I farm out bonds 11+ with. Mind you, FGO has always been a game where the devs really encouraged players to invest into servants that they love most--that's the entire point of grailing and gold fou'ing servants. Creating a system that punishes certain players for not rolling past NP5 (without us having any prior knowledge of this system) is baffling, especially when, as mentioned, Lasengle has no way to make money off me when I may not be able to roll for Alice again until the next blue moon.

In fact, you only see whales doing it, I’m absolutely fine with a lvl 100 jalter and saving my coins until i can spend it on the only two useful append skills. Not everyone needs to max out a character, especially when there’s nothing you can’t beat in this game as long as you have one copy of castoria and a dedicated dps. Even then castoria just makes it faster and easier.
I always ignored level 120 and appends since I'm not a whale, but now I see that doing anything with an SSR went from requiring me to spend he GDP of a small sized country to the GDP of a medium sized country. Yeah, thanks for the amazing update. And don't get me started on SRs.
The more I look at FGO JP, the more I feel like dropping the game after the end of LB7. Every other friends who played with me since NA release have since quit playing and I am the only one left still playing, everything new feels alien to me and this just feels like the final nail to the coffin for me. Lets hope lasagna fix this soon.

This new exploitation of the player will just lead to repetitive grinding and artificial difficulty spikes, not designed for leisurely enjoyment but for monetary extraction. I'm sorry but even as a huge whale I need to say that this is the most obvious cash grab in the FGO history, absolutely discussing. Especially since they didn't change the coins system.
Bruh if they are making these types of changes so late in the game they should AT LEAST make a coin refund system. All my np1 SSRs will never get to use that busted ass append skill because I already unlocked their 2nd one. Sadly, as you said they just hate F2P in general and servant coins were a mistake. After all is the same company that won't allow a simple discounted daily summon for f2p, nor allow f2p to roll on gssr banners. I have a np3 morgan that as a f2p i had to save for almost 2 years because the rates are garbage, now i just have to watch as i can't use her servant coins in a better way cause i already used them.
Im just pissed because i managed to get NP5 Arcueid without buying SQ For the banner and this feels targeted at me specifically because i wasnt going to spend on appends to at least get level 120 but now ot feels like i have no choice but to recalculate my coin estimates to make sure i have enough coins to get append 5 the moment it releases because its priority has just immediately overwriten 120. This change is so greedy that this is the first time I've genuinely felt like ite better to quit the game no matter how much I enjoy the story it cant be worth it for this (if append 4+5 were unlocked with Conditions, Materials, QP System then id be fine but for especially units like Arcueid who has no other banners effectively combined with the Gatcha rates this feels horribly evil. If i we're to implement it if put append four behind Bond 10 + append 1-3 unlocked for the conditions, and for the material if you really want it to hurt like servant coins Multiple holy grails, A lantern of Chaldeas or Lores(3* and below get just a lore as the material whilst 5 stars could potentially require one of each item). And for append 5 it has the extra requirement of Potentially NP2 if you still want to be an AH About it, Append 4 unlocked, and id put it behind bond 12/13(basically reinforcing bonding requirements).
What sux is the no refund for the appends we unlocked. No one saw this coming. Many used their coins on “anti-whatever” append just for completeness sake. Kicks whales in the nuts too and those people keep the lights on. Greedy af but part of me likes how it gives so many buster units more life. Like saber Ibuki
I think it's OUTRAGEOUS for 2 reasons: 1st, anyone who spent coins on the first or third append because that was the best thing to do cannot get the new appends now even though it might be a better choice 2nd, with grail casting, the devs told us "you wont need more coins so just burn everything you dont need". Granted, a lot of people might have played safe and kept the coins, but it's still a VERY shitty move. The only good thing i can see in this is the fact people gonna complain so fucking much that we'll most likely get a fix to the coin system. Even if it's just 5 blank coins a day, that would at least allow people to level up their favourite servant's appends. Or they find a better way. But i think they gonna loose A LOT of profit until they fix this shit.

After spending around 1500 quartz f2p and getting Np5 ERESH. I'm glad I waited for this so I know what to spend my coins on before getting her to 120. Still this entire coin thing is so scummy and messed up and even though I don't mind saving up for best girl again but it still just messed up and they should really find a way to implement it and make it better correctly.
PGR has a similar system to coins but they have a entire endgame mode where you can buy them, why can't fgo do something like that. OR at the very least give us a new gameplay feature? 9 years with no real endgame activity is crazy.

I can not describe how disappointed I am and sad for everyone who has gone as far as to pull NP6+ to max out their servants for completionism purposes or otherwise. The problem here is that this blind sided all JP players who already got max appends(we now have 2 years notice at least), because there is no way to change their decision (there really should be (such as a crystal of parallel possibilities which allows you to move one appends unlocked status and level to another append slot but are super rare to encounter)

Seeing as how they refused to address servant coins at all, but have instead chosen to make the issue worse, this is definitely never getting fixed. This feels like something they threw in to milk as much cash from people before EoS. In no way does it make sense to implement something like this without fixing the underlying system it operates on (servant coins) unless they have no intention of fixing it to being with. There's no way a company is genuinely that incompetent to not realize why this change is nothing short of awful for veteran players, which are the overwhelming majority of the game's players at this point, 9 years into the game's life.

Grail Casting needs to have some sort of alternate currency, burning coins on it just seems so wasteful

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if they added a coin system upgrade for the 30M Download campaign: it's long overdue by now and they have added big QOL updates on previous milestones (25M was the Bronze Sapling system). My guess is, they're waiting on the campaign until after Summer, to make sure everyone feels obliged to roll as much as possible on the Summer banners and Eresh.
It's a shame the implementation is so scummy, because the 5th append is actually good in a vacuum: but with the current requirements it's just too much

I literally screamed in pain when I saw the two appends, and from there, this anni went down the drain for me.
I'm a f2p player, and I was happy that I got Arc NP2 back in 2022. It's nothing impressive, but at least, if I got her to BOND 12, I could 120 her. I was happy that anni was around the corner because I was planning on taking advantage of the exp boost to level her (and also Astrea and Welfare Shiki) to 120. But now, especially with Arc, I regret not expending those coins on her biggest buff.
It is genuinely a great idea that could have been implemented with Class Score (you only need to farm), but they decided to execute it in the WORST possible way. Congratulations, Lasengle. I didn't think you could make coins even more (Moon)cancer.
But hey, according to some (braindead) players, it's my fault for not rolling more copies. And at least it is Arcueid, if it were Draco, this would be even worse.
Similar position. My Arcueid rolls went well under average copies/quartz and I had enough to make her work (np3), so I stopped at my stopping point to be able to have a solid shot at Summer Skadi.
I am not sure that is enough to get her to 120 _and_ an append, though, and she has not had a rate-up in 2 years.
Here's a non-exhaustive list of changes that'd make this update more tolerable (I'm not asking for all of them, just one would be good enough):
-Reduce SC (servant coins) cost for appends
-Lower pity threshold
-Make pity not a one-time thing
-Increase the amount of SC a copy gives you (Honnestly I'd even take just bumping up the amount for limited and story locked SSRs, the same way it is for lower rarities)
-Add "unassigned" SC you can get through different ways (buy at rare prism shop, at event shop, reward for CQs etc), even just 10 at a time would be decent.
-Add some kind of reverse Grail Casting where you can trade a Grail or a Lore for SC of a particular servant
Goddamn these are all such great ideas for changes that’ll never be implemented.
The one I think think that’d be really plausible imo is they increase the coins you get from copies just 30 extra coins 90-120 would help a lot man what a frustrating change.
Benefit of hindsight tho as an NA player knowing about this 2 years ahead of time guess I’ll have to be careful from now on.

The issue with increasing SC's given or reducing the cost for appends is that lasengle risks pissing off every player who has already whaled to get enough SC to max their servant
They actually did update the pity system so that it can be triggered more than once on the same banner. It's still 330 rolls per pity though.
Some characters don't even get their banners rerun for a very long time.

This used to be my favorite gacha game but it just keeps getting worse.
I would prefer they just dropped Servant specific coins, switched to having a univerasal currency that can be farmed through a daily like QP, Embers, Skill Gems, etc. There's no justifiable reason for them to have skill progression loxked behind the gacha, especially for SR and SSR Servants that can't be acquired in large numbers without paying.

Constellation is atleast bit better with the pity. By F2P standards, you can guarantee c1 in 5.5 months, and that is assuming all hard pity(90th pull). It is the scam weapon banner that's atrocious.
I just spent 1290SQs+70tix to get the 2nd copy of Sibuki and failed. I'm too tired grinding now. It's like a big hole on the bottom of a sinking ship.

Constellations in Genshin are at least not mandatory and at most they provide a pleasant QoL that you can live without or compensate for by knowing how to play, while you have Servants in FGO that practically need NP Levels and Append Skills like Mana Charge to work properly.

I was so excited a few months ago to finally max out my Ishtar by getting her to NP6 so I could get her last anti-ruler append even though, gameplay-wise it’s basically got no use. Now I feel like I wasted my time unlocking it because not only is she no longer fully maxed out, I also could’ve used those coins on something actually useful. Insanely frustrating choice by Lasengle.
Something this big would be solved if they created a certain method where you can change your appends to experiment which is ideal, cuz the 3 appends fit for the np5 structure, adding 2 more without touching ANYTHING ELSE without any backdoors is an ABSOLUTE BLUNDER

yeah honestly i think this is something they need to do, i can see that they might not want to do it so that they can wring out more money from whales, but i think they could at least do something in the middle, where they its similar to the fou paws where you can do it but it takes a long time, that way whales still might get impatient and buy a ton, and f2ps can still match them by being patient. I'd still prefer if they were more generous though

Put simply, this is the kind of change that could be justified overnight if they merely cut the number of coins needed down by something like 20 per append, and handed them back retroactively. It would mean 60 coins back, and 40 fewer coins needed post change, so it would effectively return the state of the game to "np6, bond 15 required", which would do wonders for their image.
The prblem here, is that they clearly *didn't* think this through, and thus gain no points with the players for doing this.
The bigger problem here is that they could desing new servants with this new append in mind, so new buster servants going forward only loop with this unlocked instead of being a nice bonus

This update also depends massively on banners for servants being available. And given that some servants go 18 months or longer without a banner, the charitable reading is that they're going to massively increase availability of servants via banners. The more likely outcome is that older favorites will get the odd banner once a year, and anyone whose favorite servant doesn't match Lasengle's expectations is going to have to wait 2-4 years for another banner to get more servant coins.
Kanou Yoshiki has actually made the game worse than DW ever could holy shit
This is not on Kanou but mostly on Nasu. He's the one blocking improvements to Gacha Rates etc because he wants it to feel "special" when you get a servant you want. If it were up to Kanou I think we would be in a very different place. Plus they need to hire more people to work on the game for Animation Updates etc

The most annoying part is most of us have used coins on the servants we liked already for 120 and np gauge
I think the most outrageous thing is that by this point people would have used their coins for other appends, and those appends are crucial for those Servants, like how Arcueid basically needs 5th append to be a great Buster farmer. Same for someone like Summer BB, she can also farm with Double Koyan and Oberon now since her skill 2 can now be doubled. And many Quick and Buster Servants would really like that crit append but can't get it because you unlocked extra attack boost or something
They HAVE to half the coin cost to append and refund, and that fixes it.

They didn't refund or cut grail costs when they raised the max level despite it purely existing for wasting players time/resources and making people roll for servant coins. I dont see them doing it here either unfortunately. FGO just keeps getting greedier and people keep whaling anyways.
We need a fast, F2P, and not timegated way to farm servant coins. They keep adding timegated upgrade systems like pawprints and I'm sick of of having hundreds of servants(increasing every year) I'll never have close to max. They promised a way to farm servant coins years ago and never did it. Servant coins and everything associated with them is a blatant cash grab they keep making worse.
Edit: Well I'm happy to be proven wrong. They didn't fix anything but refunds and free grails are nice for people in JP. Still need them to fix the coin system though.

I don't even feel like spending on any of GSSR banner/Choose your own GSSR banner because of this updates. It's like a buff that only 0.1% of the players gets to enjoy. FK, even mihoyo in all of their greediness has lowered the peak value within multiple copy systems from the fifth copy (C4, e.g: Ayaka) to third copy (C2 e.g: Raiden) to encourage people to spend, this new append skill is going to screw over even dolphin/light spender, this is just straight BS.

I'm not a whale, but I did intend to go for a completely maxed out Barghest and Huyan Zhuo eventually. It felt doable before but now I'm just staring down this bottomless pit that hungers for SQ.
FGO has always been a gacha that, despite the rates and mediocre pity system, provided comfort for players as a game that didn't demand players roll for multiple copies of a similar servant--although NP upgrades were substantial for farming, you could get away with low NP levels with the right supports.
The coin system, upon its implementation, was always a bit controversial with how it moved the game from being less F2P friendly in that regard, but because coins were only worthwhile for Append #2 and grailing past 100 (which isn't something most of us will do on the regular), the system was generally regarded as *fine* as it at least opened up farming for more servants.
Fast forward to today, we get this change that is extremely tone-deaf, given it was not paired with a much needed change to the coin system. Not only that, there was no sign that the Append system would be updated, so players who thought they rolled enough for a limited servant, used their coins to complete a servant, or decided to hold off getting more copies after getting enough to grail and/or get Append 2 got blindsided.
What's astonishing about this addition is that it's so incompetent that Lasengle can't even benefit from it. My goal for this Anni was to grail Alice to 120--I have her at NP3 and Bond 11, so I was prepared to make this journey. However, I now have to hold off on doing so if I wish to get Append 5. This sucks on my end, but I can't even bend over for Lasengle to tear into my ass and bank account because Alice is a collab limited character who won't see a rateup for God knows how long (As she could be as rare as Miyu was at some point).
Append skills *should* be a needed addition that loosens up what is normally strict farming setups. The problem is that coins are so poorly implemented that they push FGO towards the nature of Hoyo games, where getting Eidolons/Constellations provide such a large benefit...except those games at least have a manageable pity system.
I don't want there to be anything as severe as threats, but I hope JP bros really hammer into Lasengle about this: as Appends stand, nobody stands to benefit, yet they effectively put players off from investing into their favorite servants as DW had always intended for us to do.
Think that's more on the perfectionists causing a stir. If a whale is more pragmatic they'll most likely have spare coins for their favorites. Like c'mon, would you bother getting append 1 for non-solo Servants "for the sake of self-proclaimed perfection" when there's no actual benefit? This is just like the Aesc fiasco where the "supposed outrage" was actually non-JP players blowing smoke. That's like admitting "you used up all coins for all appends beyond the one they actually get a benefit from" as a flex.
I get that and all but let's be real here. How many do you think even wants to be a completionist? The wide majority mostly spend money to get that one copy. This has always been more of a whale thing and while it sucks and i agree they should give us more coins... it is hardly the end of the world. It's just two new appends and only 2 out of 5 are truly useful. Any more than that is like getting an 8th copy of a genshin character.
Completing a character is a choice that you make... I don't think it's an appropriate reaction to not seeing 10/10/10/10/10 across the board.
Unlike genshin, FGO doesn't give you the idea to spend money for another copy. Pity is still 900sq and hardly anyone would want to do that 8 times. A completed character could net you a high end PC and while I'm not one to tell you where to spend your money, it's absolutely crazy how some people react over what is essentially a choice to spend more money. |
And trust me, this is hardly as greedy as genshin is. 7 copies at a 100 or 200 pulls where each 100 pull would cost you 200 dollars.... that would be at worst 2800 dollars. With the added consensus that you can get the next character guaranteed after 100.
That is not the same as "oh character guaranteed at 300 btw good luck. High enough that nobody except for a whale would even entertain the idea of spending.... around 600 dollars for one copy.... let alone 8 of them. Like who is stupid enough to potentially spend 4800 dollars on a png just so you can see that waifu maxed out across the board? That's Like a Kawasaki Ninja inside of one png.
Again yes I do agree that they should fix the coin system and such but again, this reaction to it is just insane to me.
@arrexu01 That's the thing, though, in cases like myself, I'm not even looking to complete Alice. Currently, I have her 2nd Append and at level 106 with a goal of getting her to 120. As it stands now, if I want her 5th Append, I'm going to have to wait for either of the above, as grinding past bond 10 is a lengthy process, especially when you won't always be able to have a servant with a 5 star cost tied to you 24/7.
To answer your question: enough people are negatively impacted by this. I, and most others, aren't throwing fits--at the moment, I'm trying out Eresh and enjoying the anniversary for what it is. With that being said, even if *most* players aren't the type to maximize their farming efficiency or completely max their servants, doing so is a big part of FGO because, let's be honest, what else besides story do we have to look forward to?
@reishiki8682 I'm not necessarily a completionist myself--in fact, I'm more of a minimalist where I pick/choose where and when I use my resources. Yet I'm very much affected by this because Alice, a character I've been looking forward to since I first began FGO and had planned on making large investments since her release, is now a project that I have to put to the side until I farm out bonds 11+ with.
Mind you, FGO has always been a game where the devs really encouraged players to invest into servants that they love most--that's the entire point of grailing and gold fou'ing servants. Creating a system that punishes certain players for not rolling past NP5 (without us having any prior knowledge of this system) is baffling, especially when, as mentioned, Lasengle has no way to make money off me when I may not be able to roll for Alice again until the next blue moon.

This lvl 120 thing has always been more of a whale thing since the beginning of its conception. In fact, you only see whales doing it, I’m absolutely fine with a lvl 100 jalter and saving my coins until i can spend it on the only two useful append skills.
Not everyone needs to max out a character, especially when there’s nothing you can’t beat in this game as long as you have one copy of castoria and a dedicated dps.
Even then castoria just makes it faster and easier.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that people will still continue to play and spend money on this game.
I always ignored level 120 and appends since I'm not a whale, but now I see that doing anything with an SSR went from requiring me to spend he GDP of a small sized country to the GDP of a medium sized country. Yeah, thanks for the amazing update.

The more I look at FGO JP, the more I feel like dropping the game after the end of LB7. Every other friends who played with me since NA release have since quit playing and I am the only one left still playing, everything new feels alien to me and this just feels like the final nail to the coffin for me. Lets hope lasagna fix this soon.

They saw that other gacha games were successfully baiting players into getting more than five copies of the same character, so they figured, as Fate/Grand Order, which had helped popularize the mechanic of enhancing a character's power by spending for multiple copies, why not take that a step further? It’s not just the whales, but the entire oceanic life as a whole, deciding whether or not to take this new bait for power. This approach not only exploits players' current spending habits but also further prioritizes revenue over creating a balanced, engaging, and mentally stimulating gameplay experience. This new exploitation of the player will just lead to repetitive grinding and artificial difficulty spikes, not designed for leisurely enjoyment but for monetary extraction. Instead of applauding those who amass excessive power and wealth through such means, we should be booing-not out of jealousy or hate, but out of a genuine desire to promote healthier habits and ethical standards, both as developers and players.
I'm sorry but even as a huge whale I need to say that this is the most obvious cash grab in the FGO history, absolutely discussing. Especially since they didn't change the coins system.

Sadly, as you said they just hate F2P in general and servant coins were a mistake. After all is the same company that won't allow a simple discounted daily summon for f2p, nor allow f2p to roll on gssr banners. I have a np3 morgan that as a f2p i had to save for almost 2 years because the rates are garbage, now i just have to watch as i can't use her servant coins in a better way cause i already used them.

Im just pissed because i managed to get NP5 Arcueid without buying SQ For the banner and this feels targeted at me specifically because i wasnt going to spend on appends to at least get level 120 but now ot feels like i have no choice but to recalculate my coin estimates to make sure i have enough coins to get append 5 the moment it releases because its priority has just immediately overwriten 120.
This change is so greedy that this is the first time I've genuinely felt like ite better to quit the game no matter how much I enjoy the story it cant be worth it for this (if append 4+5 were unlocked with Conditions, Materials, QP System then id be fine but for especially units like Arcueid who has no other banners effectively combined with the Gatcha rates this feels horribly evil.
If i we're to implement it if put append four behind Bond 10 + append 1-3 unlocked for the conditions, and for the material if you really want it to hurt like servant coins Multiple holy grails, A lantern of Chaldeas or Lores(3* and below get just a lore as the material whilst 5 stars could potentially require one of each item).
And for append 5 it has the extra requirement of Potentially NP2 if you still want to be an AH About it,
Append 4 unlocked, and id put it behind bond 12/13(basically reinforcing bonding requirements).

What sux is the no refund for the appends we unlocked. No one saw this coming. Many used their coins on “anti-whatever” append just for completeness sake. I think it's OUTRAGEOUS for 2 reasons:
1st, anyone who spent coins on the first or third append because that was the best thing to do cannot get the new appends now even though it might be a better choice
2nd, with grail casting, the devs told us "you wont need more coins so just burn everything you dont need". Granted, a lot of people might have played safe and kept the coins, but it's still a VERY shitty move.
The only good thing i can see in this is the fact people gonna complain so fucking much that we'll most likely get a fix to the coin system. Even if it's just 5 blank coins a day, that would at least allow people to level up their favourite servant's appends. Or they find a better way. But i think they gonna loose A LOT of profit until they fix this shit.
They might lose profit but they're probably counting on extreme completely new FOMO for this anniversary. They will take their sweet time to address this, one brief apology and back on track as nothing ever happened. Unless JP bros really get furious and be smart in not whaling to send a message.

After spending around 1500 quartz f2p and getting Np5 ERESH. I'm glad I waited for this so I know what to spend my coins on before getting her to 120. Still this entire coin thing is so scummy and messed up and even though I don't mind saving up for best girl again but it still just messed up and they should really find a way to implement it and make it better correctly.

PGR has a similar system to coins but they have a entire endgame mode where you can buy them, why can't fgo do something like that. OR at the very least give us a new gameplay feature? 9 years with no real endgame activity is crazy.

I stopped at np3 Arc because that was enough for 120 and I still wanted Summer Servants... I would need a minimum of 1 more copy for both 120 and her cooldown append. _And she has not gotten another rate-up in over 2 years at this point._

I just got my first NP5 SSR as a F2P - Arcueid :D and grailed her to 120. And now I get such pleasant surprise news... ) Arc stocks just went up the most out of all Buster farmers imo
