Thanks so much for making the video. I made it yesterday right after watching your video. The kids were so excited. My daughter put the rice, eggs, veggies, and meat the way you did it. :D
It's so cute that you wonder about the shopkeepers from your favorite childhood shops. Sometimes we don't think about the people we met in passing who contributed to our childhoods. Now I wish my favorite candy store was still open. D:
I love all the dishes you make, but the part that makes you special, is that you share with us a little bit of you! Not only cooking, but.. you! I hope I get to meet you one day! You have fans in Mexico :D
Thanks for the recipe!! I was thinking how to cook some chicken for my little daughter, I'll try this tomorrow. Looks delicious! Once I ate an icecream from an asian supermarket, it was shaped like a fish, thin cookie outside and inside was vanilla icecream and azuki bean inside. So so good~
Funny, In Canada, Floats are made from slush (cruched ice with flavoring, usually fruity flavors) topped with soft ice cream. now i am craving one. (great bento video, will try!).
omg! thank you so much runny-san, I had this bento all the time at my university when I studied abroad, but I never took the time to find out what it was named. I know, I guess you think I should have just read the label but it was always kind of a side dish to the main part of the bento which was usually katsu or something.
My fave ice cream flavor is pralines and cream, so good. But when I was a kid I was obsessed with a brand called otter pops. Which are diff flavored ices.
Awesome bro!!! great and awesome soboro!!! want to try this!! looks so great!! and awesome your talk about the childhood!! hopr your doing great runny take care!!!! XD!!!
Hi Runny, ahh this maybe a stupid question but when you cook with chopsticks are they like a special type just for cooking for example are they thicker then normal chopsticks or longer? Or are they just the everyday run of the mill chopsticks?
Hi.. im a japanese food lover, I went in japan last may 14-19 and I ate my favorite japanese food. All I can say its d best and authentic.. I just want to ask what is this dressing that you put in d cabbage? Like side dishes when u eat tonkatsu or karaage.. im so curious about this dressing and im having a hard time checking it.. pls response. Thanks.
Looks good! I think Gari Gari Kun has become more popular these days because it releases new strange flavours. Last year they had Spaghetti Napolitan and I think before that it was Cream Stew with potato chunks... very strange, but people want to try them
Can I substitute sake with cooking sake or is cooking sake another name for mirin? I am a little confused. Loving your channel by the way and greetings from Australia!
beardedbard You can use mirin only. Cooking sake is cooking sake and mirin is kinda sweet cooking sake. They both work similar like umami and kokumi.... etc There are 4 type '' Sake(beverage), Sake (cooking sake), Mirin (sweet cooking sake), Mirin flavored sake (sweet cooking fake-sake)....More to confuse lol
Does the sake & Mirin give that much flavour? It seems like there's not much going on as far as complexity goes. I guess it's just supposed to be a very simple taste?
GiraffeSweaters Really? I actually went to the grocery store just a little while ago and the shopkeeper there also told me they were called runner beans. Weird...
Corinn Heathers Yeah, I'm an idiot, haha. I went back to the grocery store and asked the shopkeeper, and he laughed at me for mistaking beans and peas! They do look rather similar, though...
xplodax A little, yeah, but you can tell them apart fairly easily. Snow peas are really very flat and have very small "peas" inside the pods; you're mostly after the pods. Runner beans are snap beans (or green beans outside the American South), not peas. Sugar snap peas (let's make this even more confusing!) are kind of like fatter snow peas.
What's the camera do you use to film? wow so clear! it looks live haha. the pea's look like sugar snap pea's! your videos are great keep up the good work. =)
This is so easy! I am taking your suggestion and making pork soboro to take to my boyfriend at work. Also, I LOVE kakigori, but it is hard to find in the US T^T Thanks for this tutorial! I really like the Blah Blah time because I find it easy to listen to you and it REALLY helps me with my listening practice n.n It's like two lessons in one!
For like 3-4 months, Super Cup had a flavor called Caramel Cookie, and it was amazing! I used to get it all the time. Then, all of a sudden, they stopped having it and I looked everywhere to find it. I ended up finding some still left in one shop, and I bought a whole bunch of them. I slowly ate them from then on, but I eventually ran out. I wish they'd bring that back. That was the best ice cream ever. Though, taking it off the market meant that I wasn't in the mood for ice cream as much. haha So, maybe that's a good thing, as eating ice cream all the time is bad for your health.
Aizakku27 Oh... ok.. I thought Super Cup is a brand or something.. we had it here too in all type of brand. I don't eat those :) I like ice cream from the truck or burger king :)
Super Cup is a brand of those little individual sized cups of ice cream. There are no ice cream trucks in Japan (that I know of), and no Burger Kings in Kyushu, which is the large island I live on. We do have Baskin Robbins and Cold Stone Creamery though, so there are options. But, the ice cream cones, ice cream bars, etc. available at supermarkets are probably the cheaper and more convenient option for most people here.

Was I the only one that kept re watching the beginning 😂😂😂
Abdulrahman Majash I don't know which kind Runny uses, but you can never go completely wrong with Kikkoman. It's more expensive than some other brands, but if you buy the big bottles you usually save money compared to the little ones.
Thanks so much for making the video. I made it yesterday right after watching your video. The kids were so excited. My daughter put the rice, eggs, veggies, and meat the way you did it. :D

Ah yes, kinusaya, haha. I used to laugh hysterically as a child when that word was brought up. They're called runner beans in English...I think!
GiraffeSweaters Really? I actually went to the grocery store just a little while ago and the shopkeeper there also told me they were called runner beans. Weird...
Might be a UK thing? I remember my grandparents used to grow them and called them that.
xplodax runner beans are different than snow peas.
Corinn Heathers Yeah, I'm an idiot, haha. I went back to the grocery store and asked the shopkeeper, and he laughed at me for mistaking beans and peas! They do look rather similar, though...

Runny do you still receive packaged goodies from your fans? I remember you used to make videos about it.
I'm here In dubai I don't know where I can find mirin and sake. what will I do for alternative

Aizakku27
I love caramel flavor as well! My favorite caramel ice cream is Haagen Dasz' one :)
Aizakku27 What is Super Cup brand and where was it from?
Lin Kieu Super Cup are small cups of ice cream, basically just an individual serving. It's available all over Japan.
Aizakku27 Oh... ok.. I thought Super Cup is a brand or something.. we had it here too in all type of brand. I don't eat those :) I like ice cream from the truck or burger king :)

Dear runny, may i ask you how old you are?
Is there a specific kind of soy sauce you use?
Abdulrahman Majash I don't know which kind Runny uses, but you can never go completely wrong with Kikkoman. It's more expensive than some other brands, but if you buy the big bottles you usually save money compared to the little ones.
+Tarinob Kikkoman soy sauce is gross :p I use San-J Tamari sauce :p
