  • On June 29th we were in St. John’s Newfoundland for program number 1,044, and our guest was none other than Canada’s last living Father of Confederation, the Honourable Joseph R. Smallwood, who signed the document as Newfoundland joined Canada in 1949.

He ruined the country. Not a Newfoundlander alive who doesn’t curse his name.

He sure knew how to swing words but ray guy bless his heart had a few things to say about him..I'd like to know what joey was doin for the couple of yrs in new York city...to me ,although i like the idea of canada but if only we had gone like iceland I think we wud have had a fishing industry non-pareil like our neighbours over there..
I think for the newfies to have been manipulated as we read in ,don't tell the newfoundlanders, and if true as I believe it is then we missed the boat.
Was there a conspiracy??I think so..
History is made by the secret plans of those hiding behind the money brokers..
Thanks though for this piece..joey didn't like to have people like Harold Horwood around..I even believe he had guards with guns in case of trouble..
Long live the idea of free newfoundland
