Hey great video, have an international TD-6- 61 series . I pulled the motor, but I’m having a hard time finding the rear main seal. This one has the rubber seal. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Its not one of the best jobs to do on a crawler, the clutches on this one are stuck solid so need a full overhaul, will be making another video soon when I remove them
How did you get that brake pivot pin out of your TD6? Did you have to heat up the casing around it? Did you cut notches in the pin to pry against? I'm trying to replace the brakes in a T6. Thanks for the videos!
It slid out easier than than I though it would both sides, on my CAT933G I had to use a slide hammer. Heat and release oil I have used in the past . Parts for these are getting hard to come by now
I can’t get the lining out yet. On mine I removed the cap screw and am trying to drive out the brake pivot pin underneath. It is moving. The problem is the pin hits some square tubing that won’t let it come out. It looks like some type of torsion suspension or just frame. Do you have to jack up the dozer to get clearance for the pin?
Good view of clutch drums on a td6. Is is possible to install the 3 brake bands from the top and pull the back two through the brake inspection under the tractor? Would like to know if brakes can be installed without removing the brake lever
You have got to remove the pivot pin, there is a pug in the side of the casing, remove the plug, remove the pin bolt and the shaft slides clear through the hole the plig came out of enabling the removal of the bands. Its a tight fit as the lever inside the casing just about enough room to remove it. The split pins in the brake band pins are a pain. Mine was seised solid. Released by heat. Put the machine over a pit or track it up on blocks to make easier access on the lower cover. Yo may have to split the bands, two out the top and one out the bottom. As I said, mine was seised and a right pain to remove. Good luck. I may make a video on the bands showing more detail
I’m working on mine and I cannot get the rear brake band out up or down without removing the large lower pivot pin. If they made 1/2” more clearance it would just come out. The problem is when I try to drive out that large pen it is hitting that piece of the frame and I can’t get it out of the way. I’m probably going to have to jack up the crawler and hope for clearance for the pin. Did you run into this?
The brake bands are the same, slight difference in the band pin split pin arrangement, the UK ones have a split pin at each end and the USA ones have one in in the middle. The steering clutches look the same. I have used BTD plates in this TD 6, fits ok. Not a lot of difference between the two, but the engines are not the same .
Both the TD-6 & BTD-6 were sold here in Australia. Everyone knows about the different engine designs but people are genuinely unaware of the other design differences. Thanks for posting all these videos about it here.
Great video. Thanks for posting. I have a 1948 TD6. I use to pull a international disk.

Thanks James it looks like some serious work

Do you have any videos of how to properly adjust the new brake bands and how to set them up

I jacked mine up a bit
Can you tell me how to overcome a crowded main clutch lever that keeps hitting against the linkage?

Hi James,
Can you get new plates made? I’m just about to strip my 125b as one side takes a bit of freeing off
Steve

I assume this is American built TD-6. How what differences, if any, were there in the British built BTD-6 brakes and transmission?
