  • A more detailed look at the air braking system, in particular with this video at the quick release valve.
    QRV's are fitted to an air braking system to speed up the release of air, as it takes longer for air to escape a system than it does to put it in there. The main applications for quick release valves are in the service line to speed up the release of the service brakes, and in the secondary circuit to speed up the application of the park/secondary brakes. With a similar purpose to the air brake relay, the QRV is just there to speed up the release of compressed air from the braking system.
    For a bit more background before watching this video, take a look at our "introduction to air brakes" • Air Brakes - An Introd...

    You explain the valves very well. I think the world needs you to do more videos my man. I need a good video to show the operation of an anti compounding valve and another for an inversion valve. I’ve found nothing good yet.

    "Hello and welcome back....." Just like a video watched yesterday. But your previous video was from 4 years ago. I find it kind of funny. But the video content is 100% good.

    I showed my instructor at my school your videos (as I just finished my suspension, steering, and brakes class) and I'm pretty sure a few other students have subscribed too! The visualizations are awesome and really help me grasp it all. Thank you!

    I am a first year HGV technician apprentice. I can tell you, you have put to shame my training provider's half-ass attempt at explaining this topic. Keep up the good work, a video on trailer control valves would clear up a bit more confusion too. Also just a quick question, is the difference between relay valves and quick release valves just that relay valves are used for long vehicles like truck and trailers, plus the fact that they have their own air tank? they seem to both serve the same function, i.e. minimising brake lag...
    Thanks again!

    Fantastic video! I hope that you can make more of these animations becuase they are very easy to understand!
    I am currently under education as a truck mechanic, and these air brakes system and valves are not always easy to understand, especialy when the books i am given, and the teacher cant explain it so i understand it.
    Would you ever considermaking a video on the trailer control valve?
    Thank you!

    So what if the exhaust is constantly coming out, or it's stuck in the off position once I release my brakes, does that mean the entire valve is bad? Or is there a way to bypass just to get to the shop

    Whats the difference from the relay and quick release and are both installed on a tractor, and if so, why?

  • @kwunmeichan8013
    @kwunmeichan8013 2 года назад +2

    My textbook says that quick release valves are only installed at the delivery line to the front wheels. Is it correct?

    • @EducationalMechanics
      @EducationalMechanics  2 года назад +1

      In a way yes. As the front wheels are close to the drivers controls, you wouldn’t need a relay to speed up application, so you can just use a QRV on its own to speed up the air release. (It takes longer to release air than it does to charge air).

    • @dailittle6980
      @dailittle6980 2 месяца назад

      The air above the diaphragm exits from the front foot valve. This means that you effectively have two exhaust ports, to speed up the exhausting process

    Yes air brake courses are horrible. They just parrot what the dmv book says. Makes it difficult to understand really how air brakes work.
